The North Hero House Inn & Restaurant
We had a great time celebrating St Patricks Day at NH house. We loved hearing Ed play Irish tunes on the piano and accordion. Service was excellent. We sat at a table in the bar area and there was a fun group of people in that part of the restaurant.
The big draw was fried perch, and it was GRAND!! The waitstaff are wonderful, pleasant, and present just enough. They do not hover!
We ate in the dining room. The colors are so restful, and the art work is beautifully displayed. The lights over the pictures are subtle, and they bring out the colors. I love the white linens; really special.
Thanks for a lovely evening.
When we were looking for restaurants in Burlington, VT, this place kept popping up! We made the decision to try it even though it was a 45-minute drive away from where we were staying. It was well worth it!! We happened to go there during the weekend of North Hero’s Great Ice. There was outdoor activities, including a frozen pond for ice skating, a chili taste-off, a pick-up hockey game, and the best general store that had everything in it. The restaurant was the perfect end to an already amazing day. We were able to dine in the covered porch area, which offered a spectacular view of Lake Champlain. We planned the dinner to watch the sunset. In addition to their very reasonably priced menu, a three course prix fixe menu was an incredible deal! The Caesar salad was fresh and the clam chowder was flavorful. The prime rib was enormous and juicy, the pasta bolognese was well prepared and delicious! Despite being beyond full we still ate through an ice cream sundae (with locally made ice cream) and a rich, moist chocolate cake! We are looking forward to our next trip to Burlington and to coming back to North Hero Hotel!
The winter citrus salad was fabulous. My husband loved the oysters and the frogs legs - very nicely priced, too. I had the scallops, which were very good, but i was not a fan of how the brussel sprouts and potatoes were cooked, so that was a little disappointing. Nice dessert and drink choices.
Excellent food, service, atmosphere a must go! I would reccomend The North Hero House to anyone!
We've been there 3 times and it's been fantastic every time. We don't go out much but this is now our number one choice within 10 miles of home.
Took some friends there to kick off the holidays. We had a great time and the food was delicious as usual. Great job. Thanks Walt for providing this spot for the locals to enjoy in the "off season."
I love eating at the North Hero House, great food, wonderful staff, lovely atmosphere. Its a nice treat having a fine dining restaurant on the islands so close to our lake house. The food is great! Overall 5 stars.
The pianist was great! A nice addition to a cold Saturday in December.
A friendly greeting and a nice table. New offerings on the menu which
Were delicious! I had the very best crab cakes and my husband had the scallops.
A very nice evening.
Asked for a quiet table for two to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated next to an 8 top which quickly filled with noisy diners. Very disappointing. Food was very good. Table service excellent. Hostess in charge of reservations indifferent.
The nachos added to the menu are fantastic!
Not your typical nacho !!
Thoroughly enjoyed the Thanksgiving Feast. Excellent food all around. Friendly staff. A very comfortable place for a family meal. We will dine with you again!
We went for our anniversary in rain and snow conditions. Wondered why we chose to drive 40+ minutes on such a bad night. When we arrived we heard piano music and found it was live not canned. Great music, wonderful food & great ambience! The trip was certainly worth while.
Going back for Thanksgiving...
The North Hero House never fails to please. We stopped in on a cold night and found the usual warm, comfortable and quiet atmosphere along with great food and great service. The mushroom pasta dish and Pasta Bolognese were both delicious and well prepared. Our waitress, Beckie, was friendly and very attentive, as always. We always come back for the complete dining experience and value.
Absolutely delish! Crab cakes are the best we have ever experienced, fish and chips, best ever as well as chicken piccata and pork chop. Service was prompt and great attention to details. We loved dinner at this inn and would return in a heartbeat.
We have been to North Hero house before. It’s great for my husband and me as a couple but also nice to bring our son to celebrate his birthday. It is late fall but the colors are still pretty. We were on the porch and the sun was shining between the clouds, on the water and trees in the distance. It was beautiful! The waitstaff are so nice, the menu is varied, the entrees are fabulous (scallops to die for!) and the desserts - wow! We tried 3 different ones and they were scrumptious (lemon blackberry cake, apple crisp a la mode and maple pecan cake with cinnamon cream cheese frosting). It’s a nice drive to North Hero! We highly recommend it!
All was really good...until the end....the dessert took forever..think they forgot about it...they compt it, but it would have been perfect otherwise.
Introduced friends to one of our favorite restaurants. They loved it.
We really enjoyed dinner on the front porch - quiet and romantic with beautiful views of Lake Champlain.
We dine there every summer. Best described as American haute cuisine. Beautiful house on the waterfront. The food is excellent, and the wine list is very good. The service is impeccable. Will definitely keep going back.
Fabulous meal with my husband. Service was great and the food was awesome.
Delicious joint birthday dinner! Lovely meal and ambiance.
We had a wonderful birthday dinner service, food, ambiance and food all excellent!!
The crab cakes were great but not worth $6 a piece. For $12, I would have expected at least 4 crab cakes but only got 2. The greens with it were wilted and the Caesar salad did not look overly fresh. I have eaten there before and this was the least favorite meal that I have had there. Overall, disappointed.
Our two friends were our guests for the evening, and they had never been to NHH. They were greatly impressed!
Always a pleasant meal and excellent wait staff, good variety well prepared and served good beer and wine selection. My favorite dish, clam chowder with a delicate smoked pepper hint, I believe I could survive very well on just this one item, Its that good! Worth the trip just to try it, fish and chips are pretty good too.
Such a lovely place, and this may be the state’s BEST waterfront restaurant. We had an eggplant appetizer and steak this time, and we have tried nearly every entree in the past. Always excellent. The service is unfailingly friendly and professional. Great food, carefully prepared. Nothing complicated, just delicious plates at very reasonable prices. The porch is a great place to dine with an amazing view across Lake Champlain, and the interior dining room (and small bar area) are dressed up, beautifully decorated. We drive an hour each way, but an evening here is always worth it!
This is one of our favorites. Coming to area from quite a visit on a getaway, it made our anniversary dinner even more special, when our son found out we were going there and called ahead and paid for it.
Our meal tasted fabulous, I highly recommend the seared scallop dish. I have Crohn's disease and they accommodated my dietary needs by allowing me to switching out a few of the items that came with my dish to fit my restrictions. Everyone said there meals where excellent which included the pork lion dinner, as well as the salmon dinner. Our server Lorie was outstanding. However, one waitress was rather rude but one bad apple would not stop us from returning again. Other than that everything was great the atmosphere was super relaxing and the views of the lake were great. Really the only thing I thought could be adjusted is how close the tables were next to each other out on the porch it felt a little cramped especially when you have two big guys with you but even that would not stop us from going again. I have already referred a friend from out of town who has lunch reservations for this Thursday. Thank you for a fantastic meal and evening. Again I can't say enough positive things about our server Lorie. We'll be back for sure.
Picture perfect evening overlooking the water and mountains- the food exceeded expectations and it was perfect for our small party celebrating my husband’s birthday-
This is one of the best restaurants in the area. Excellent food, service and views!
Great Service, great view, great food. Enjoyed the meal.
Very disappointed by our first visit. We were expecting to have a romantic anniversary dinner overlooking Lake Champlain. We were seated on a porch overlooking the lake but it was so stuffy and so noisy we couldn't even converse in a normal tone of voice. The server was friendly but service overall was very slow. The food varied. My husband had a pork dish which was outstanding but I had a pasta Bolognese that was so-so--couldn't decide if the sauce lacked flavor or that there was just so little of it that it was spread too thinly over the pasta causing it to taste bland. Overall, this seems to be more of a local gathering spot than a place to celebrate a special event.
Such a lovely spot! And great food and service as well. The menu is not overwhelming - just the right amount of options, both lite fare and not, nice focus on local and in-season ingredients. Beckie, our server, was attentive and personable. The tabe by the window, with a fabulous view of Lake Champlain was just the icing on the cake.
Got Two other couples to go with us because we truly enjoyed it the last time.
I have already sent a review ..do not know where it went ...but I hope you received it.
Everything was great but the fish on top of the french fries made the fish very soggy and wet on the bottom.
Please put it separately from the french fries on the plate...not piled in a bowl.
Fish is supposed to have crispy batter and it didn’t...there was 6 of us and we all felt the same way.
Erin our waitress was a real “Gem”. She is a true asset to the restaurant👍😊
We arrived by boat a little late and the hostess was very pleasant and understanding. There were 4 of us and we had a great seat on the front porch with a beautiful view of the lake. The prime rib Shepard's pie was excellent.
Fantastic service, excellent food and a wonderful view! Can't ask for much more.
Solid overall experience. We dined with 4 kids and they were very accommodating.
Food was great. Server was responsive and friendly. Menu integrates seasonal foods. Good kids menu.
Limited wine list - more offerings would be ideal. I had trouble finding a bottle for kore than $40 on the list. Great if you’re on a budget, but I’d happily spend more on a nice bottle.
Overall, very happy. We will come again.
Excellent food and service as always. A bit too noisy out on he porch.
Not the first time we had dinner at North House over the years. Great entrées but as for the main course, was a bit disappointed, mixing scallops with beans was not a good choise, in my view. This said, we will definitively go back to North Hero as it has been one of our favorite summer spot.
