The NoMad Restaurant - LA
An inviting space for dining throughout the day and evening, The NoMad’s sunlit, casually-elegant restaurant and bar are on the ground floor of the hotel. It sits beneath the building’s original, 1920s blue and gold Italianate ceiling which has been meticulously restored to its full grandeur. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served in the space, with the Giannini Bar connected for a pre- or post-meal drink.

Gorgeous building and space. Excellent food. Have to see the restroom space downstairs, amazing.
Loved the vibe in the restaurant / hotel. Enjoyed the food and the drinks were amazing.
My friend was impressed with architecture, decor, food, rooftop and overall. She comes to downtown LA frequently but never heard about NoMad. My other visitor last month said the same..... I am happy I could introduce them to this experience. Will bring here my other guests in the future.
The restaurant is elegant if you're looking for an experience, but the food was nothing exceptional. Now that I've tried it, I doubt I'll return. If you need specifics, the cavatelli was so salty as to be almost inedible, the beef, which had great flavor, was to be served medium rare, but it was quite rare - seemed almost as if it was just seared then sliced. Not a problem, but not what we were told to expect. The fried sunchoke appetizer was not crispy, but soggy. The fries were good, but this is not a place you go to for the fries. The cauliflower hummus was nice, but the portion was quite small and since everyone rejected the sunchokes it wasn't enough for 4 people to share. The desserts were nothing exciting. The chocolate banana pudding was fine and the milk and honey dessert was overly sweet for me, although the others at my table liked it very much. Service was excellent and the setting is lovely.
Great renovation on the hotel, and reviving the glamour of the place. The area has a lot of homeless people... far more than I remember. The place was very poorly lit (for ambiance?). The gift shop offered items that were rather crass (but being passed as "art", and were crazy expensive). The dining area was nice and cozy, but were probably mistaken for make out alley by some diners. (Picture Danny de Vito with a blonde who thinks she's sexy but is not). I was there with my family for a late lunch - it was embarrassing. They had a $25 PF menu. Food was good in general. No tablecloths and they give you the entire silverware tray to serve yourself. The service does not go with the ambiance and the prices. Overall, the place was a bit confused with what it's trying to be... I would not call this place classy or glamorous. It's more je ne sais quoi.
For Thanksgiving, we made our favorite- Reservations! We love NoMad, it’s got a great vibe and beautiful decor We’d been before for breakfast and knew service and food were solid. Turkey day was no different. We all had French Onion soup as a starter, and then mixed it up with turkey or the short rib as entree. All were cooked to perfection, and well spiced. Shared sides of stuffing, gravy, and cranberries tied it all together. Our server Jo was friendly, very knowledgeable, and kept everything flowing.
We had a great dinner and a great time.
We went to celebrate Thanksgiving with the pre-fix dinner. Overall the food was good except the turkey was under cooked in my opinion, and rubbery. The mashed potatoes were rather skimpy, just about 3 tablespoons! Who only eats that much mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving? As for starters, the French Onion soup cheese top was burned so got that awful charred taste at first. However, the ambience is amazing and top notch service. I would go again to try their regular menus.
We went for thanksgiving and the food, the location, the service, far exceeding any expectations I had. They did things to cranberry sauce, stuffing, and turkey I never thought possible. The flavors were so unexpected, diverse and delicious! The cranberry sauce had orange and vanilla flavors and the turkey was such a surprise with the pulled and moist dark meat on the inside of the plate. The cocktail menu was varied and overwhelming and our choices were so full bodied, creative and on point. The dinner rolls were brioche people! The ambiance was amazing and felt like we were in a 1920s movie. The service was perfection and it felt so cozy and comfortable.
This is the place to be! Very elegant, romantic, quiet, great food, great service. It seems like you are transformed in a different world! The ambiance is superb.
Hi Jovi! We're so happy you've enjoyed your time with us. Please let me know if you need assistance with future reservations! Best, Simone
Food was good and venue was lovely but the service was soooooo stiff and borderline stuffy.
We had to wait longer than expected for our Mains and I felt the Uni Tray was overpriced. The cavatelli was undercooked and too salty. We were there for our anniversary and was less than a great experience.
From start to finish it was top notch.
Fantastic! First, thank you for having valet parking!
From the moment we arrived we had excellent service! My idea of excellent service anyway: plenty of space and not constant asking how everything is, time to sit for a moment and look over menu's, cocktail service with plenty of time to enjoy and chat, ambiance was finely detailed without being over the top, tables are not packed together so tight you can hear people on both ends, to be honest it felt like we were sitting in a very nice library but w talking allowed.
Bank vault downstairs is a cool entry to bathrooms.
Food was the star of the show! WOW! I recommend sharing everything so all people get a small taste of a lot of different food combinations. Save room for dessert! Order a "literal candy bar" to take home. You will be glad you did the next day.
I will be back!!!
The chef was very inflexible about substitutions even though I have a serious allergy. The inflexibility was super harsh and he wouldn’t let me put another side with my meal unless I ordered it on the side. The branzino was tiny and super expensive, they literally took one fish split it in half and gave half to me and half to my husband and then charged us an arm and a leg for each. We eat out at fancy restaurants all of the time and don’t mind an expensive meal but when it’s coupled with super small portions and a bad attitude from the chef it’s really disappointing. The one positive thing is that the restaurant is gorgeous and they did an amazing job of restoring it. It might be worth going for the decor and ambience but definitely not the food!
The room and decor are beautiful. The food was very good. The service was great. We'd definitely go back.
Beautiful presentation
Great food, great service
Amazing restaurant with beautiful people, delicious food, pricey but great quality, and unforgettable vibe and interior design.
Wonderful atmosphere. Great service.
The decor is fabulous and the music was charming! Stellar experience overall
16$ burger was small. If a burger and a slider had a a baby it would be this. No fries on the side either. All you get for 16$ is a burger. Pass.
Beautiful restaurant, great food and awesome vibes. 10 for 10 would recommend
Outstanding food, beautiful location, great service
The hostess was lovely. But our waitress seemed confused, annoyed and unpolished, but nice. It was a drag to not be able to order a small ceasar. Only a large entree size. That's pretty basic. And the kitchen was not accomodating. We had to continuously ask for iced tea over and over again. Again, pretty basic. Perhaps a little light music playing in the background would be nice. Pretty dining room! Thanks.
went for breakfast and both service and food were poor. The best item on their menu is the pancakes. If I had to bet they were short people both in the dining room and kitchen.
Great service. Food was aesthetically pleasing as well as delicious.
lovely location, good service, very bad menu, needs to be updated, there was nothing any of our party really wanted to eat.
The fried chicken was removed from the menu! I was a bit disappointed, but the service was amazing. The ambience and restaurant is unlike anywhere else in LA. Wish the food was a bit better though! For the price, it was a little disappointing..
Birthday celebration service and food didn’t disappoint i will recommend to friends who attend the music Center to have dinner at Nomad
Ambiance is amazing- service was a little slow but this was due to servers goal to achieve excellence.
The menu is small but fabulous. Excellent food. The waiters weren't great about checking in and they seemed mentally "checked out," but not rude in any way. Worth a meal!
The food was very nice. However being located in the hotel lobby it has a nice vibe but more of a lobby bar than a restaurant
Beautiful interior. Delicious food. Central location in downtown
Best dish was the Nomad chicken. In general, the food was excellent. The lighting was so low, it was hard to see the food, not to mention the menus. The service was surprisingly slow and incomplete. Although my cousin and I were amongst the first to be seated, almost everyone in our area had orders taken before us. I had to wave my credit card in the air to get our bill, the table was never wiped, our water was never refilled. I suppose there were not enough servers for the number of tables, but in a first-class restaurant, I've seldom encountered this kind of non-attentive, slow service.
Great experience at NoMad - perfect lunch in a cool setting (old Bank of Italy building that’s been converted to a hotel / restaurant). Service was solid, food very good and a fun atmosphere. Recommend if you’re looking for something special in downtown LA.
Venue is beautiful. Food is always good. Service was incredible slow and when i was ready to order our server just walked away from us. She just set our wine glasses down and walked away.
It took forever for us to order and for us to get our wine...they should leave the bottle at our table if they’re short staffed.
Great food except for overdressed , soggy salad and radishes almost inedibly soaked in vinegar on main dish . But desserts delicious and steak and mashed potatoes to die for . Service super slow though
The Nomad is a lovely hotel. This restaurant is situated in the middle of the first floor. While lovely, the food was plain, the menu limited, the flavor missing and the vegetables notably out of season. The prices, for what was offered, were exorbitant and I don’t mind paying for good food. A two egg breakfast which consisted of two fried eggs, two plain pieces of toast (no butter or jelly), two slices of tomato, 3 slices of avocado and some leaves thrown on the plate without dressing was $30. In addition, the restaurant tacks on a 4 percent charge for “health insurance” for their employees.... a ploy to guilt patrons which inevitably comes out of the employees tip money. Anyone who had their head on straight would include their health care in the prices instead of adding this BS excuse to charge more. I am fairly certain the employees see a drop in their tips because it seems to be included already in the check. I would NOT recommend this restaurant.
This place is amazing , food quality was great, we had the squash Cavatelli, the Steak and the charred calamari all of them great, and to close our dinner we had the Honey and Milk dessert and the Mango bread pudding ,exquisitely done, cappuccino was also great, and the cocktails The Palomas well done. Love this place surrounded by historic building, this place used to be The Bank Of Italy.
I’ve been here several times. Food and drink are excellent though pricey. Service has generally been good but I had to ask a couple of times for iced tea I ordered with the original order and didn’t get it until I had finished eating my meal. Ambiance is lovely.
