The New York Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We had put in a last minute reservation for prime time Saturday night, and got the reservation. When we arrived they brought us to our table without delay. Food, delicious. Waitstaff, great. Wait time for food, perfect.
New York restaurant had great NYC feeling decor. Nice live music. Great beer selection.
I have been here several times and this place never disappoints. The food is always delicious. There are always such wonderful special dishes of the day that I find it difficult to choose which one to try but whatever I do get it is always flavorful and delicious. I keep going back for the food but the ambiance is also relaxing. I love the vibe of this place. Looking for a place to have just a drink and listen to a local band then head here on a Friday night. The only regret that you may have is while watching the food coming out you have not ordered dinner. I highly recommend going to this restaurant.
The feel of the place is great. The staff are helpful and engaging, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. People genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves and even when the place was packed, we could still carry on a conversation. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
This was not my first dining occasion here and it won’t be my last. There is a lot if energy going on here. Young people were waiting on the sidewalk to get in. The live music was good and not so loud that I couldn’t have a conversation. We came on a wine night special when a selection of good wines can be purchased by the bottle at a very good price. The menu selection focused on Polish dishes but had many other choices. The pierogies and stuffed cabbage are exemplary.
I heard about this gem from someone on the train- we are in Jewett, Greene County, about 30-40 minutes away...but I am a foodie so decided to try it out- and was it ever worth the drive!! It was appropriately hopping for a Saturday night- the décor is lovely, warm and inviting, over 40 lighting and very clean (my chair was a little wobbly but no biggie). The waitress was lovely and I just LOVED the cauliflower and brussels sprouts and the trout special- plus a nice Cote du Rhone. My husband went Polish with the pierogis and the (I can't spell) golabki. We even splurged on the canolis. You bet we'll be back, drive or no drive!
If you miss your grandmother's pierogi or golabki, this is the place for you. Or maybe you have been un-tempted (or disappointed) by Brussel sprout chips elsewhere -- here's your chance to like them. Even the evening's least successful dish -- tuna cucumber rolls -- was attractive and delicious; it was just a little complicated to deconstruct into bite-sized pieces. We have already planed a return visit.
Overall fantastic. Food was to die for and very generous portions. Two vegans in our party and they were delighted with the choices. Loved the ambiance and even though we were there at very busy dinner hour, service was attentive. Recommending to all my friends.
We had the Pierogi Platter with kielbasa which was great!!!!
Berry + Prosciutto Salad was good too (a little too much vinegar for my taste but good non-the-less).
My dad loved the Bigos (soup) too.
We were not very hungry and this was enough for the 3 of us.... (nice sized portions!)
The key lime pie was good but tiny.
I was told that New York is THE restaurant to go to in the town of Catskill, but frankly, I was underwhelmed. The live music (horns) was so loud that we chose to eat out on the sidewalk - not a great spot. Despite nice brioche toast, my BLT was poorly constructed with hunks of iceberg lettuce and burnt bacon. My companion's salad was adequate, but certainly nothing special. I saw a few unique Eastern European dishes on the menu, but they were not available at lunch; only dinner. Bummer. Service was offhand. Catskill needs more and better options.
We were driving through on our way to a music festival and stopped in for dinner. Was especially nice to chat with the musicians before we left. The food was very good and so was the wine our waitress recommended (it was on the table as an special offer and glad we bought it). I will definitely stop in again if in Catskill!
Wonderful new restaurant in Catskill. We will be back. Very "down to earth" to the extent that the service was a bit inexperienced. But the food more than made up for that minor issue.
Everything was homemade and delicious. The surroundings seem spacious and fun.
Food was good I will say that . However, the $5 charge for an additional plate was unacceptable to us , especially in our area of the Hudson Valley. No restaurant we've been to in this area has that policy, that's a NYC policy. No bread being offered was another negative. Too many tables too close to the traffic areas.
My husband and I wanted to try a new place for my 63rd birthday dinner and I had heard about you from a co-worker. Making the reservations on-line was easy. The table we were shown was a little too small (on the bar side) but when asked if we could have a larger table our waitress brought us to a larger table right away. The lighting was very low with small candles lit everywhere making the atmosphere very cozy. I tried the soup special (a sweet potato bisque) which was very good and we both had a soft pretzel as an appetizer and very good also, a crisp crust and very tender inside. We both chose Polish entrees and not only was the food very tasty but the portions were more than generous. Throughout the whole meal our waitress was very attentive and polite. It was a great dining experience and we will definitely be back and hopefully will have enough room for dessert next time. Thanks, New York Restaurant!!!
New York Restaurant does not disappoint! I love the Brussel sprout chips with parm and truffle oil and the Tuna Poke app. Special on the menu for Mother's day was the best ceviche I have ever had! The vibe is fun and cozy, the cocktails and wine list are great. Service is very friendly and super professional.
Pierogies and cali wings are also favorites of ours!
We have been to the restaurant several times. We normally all get the Cowboy Steak. We did again this time, however; my steak and my brother-in-law who asked for it cooked medium was well done and tough. My husband ordered medium and his was perfect but the cut of meat as well as ours was tough and seemed like not the same as they normally serve. We also ordered a special they had for appetizer - Chips, salsa and Quac... the salsa and Quac was way too small
for 4 people - even for two. Service is always good. We made a reservation and was seated right away....
We eat at New York Restaurant quite often. The food is reasonably priced and delicious! The bartender is excellent. They have clearly worked on improving their service and this this time it was particularly good. The pierogies and the Brussels sprout chips are incredible and highly recommended. There is always live music on the weekends and even though the venue is quite intimate, the music volume is kept at a reasonable level. A most enjoyable dining experience!
