The New York Restaurant
Always a huge fan of this restaurant. However impressed with the new decor. I loved the look before they remodeled. This time for some reason all of the food came out cold.
Always interesting food, good choices of craft beer and drinks. Service is great and friendly.
Great restaurant. Great ambiance good service and very nice decor! Food was very good and prepared perfectly!
Had a wonderful post Valentines day "Date night". Instant seating, very upbeat/helpful server, the food was wonderful. It was a little crowded, and the noise level was a little higher then we would have preferred. The dinning area is next to the bar area, so the noise was mainly from the bar. All in all a very nice higher end restaurant.
What a hidden gem.
After years of coming to Windham mountain and eating in town we decided to take a 10 minute detour off the route headed toward Windham and drove into the town of Catskill. Adorable town with quaint shops and a wonderful Restaurant. We even came back the next day for Lunch.
Great food great service. Will definitely come back
We love coming to the New York Restaurant because the food is always great, the ambiance is nice, and the wait staff are super polite and friendly. Overall amazing, thank you!
Good food. Excellent service. Cute place except the tables are too close together making it hard to have a private conversation.
The New York Restaurant is simply amazing. The staff and atmosphere make you feel like you’re in a home away from home. The food is incredible. We tried a variety of items and every bit was was better than the last. I highly recommend the New York restaurant (and the Bigos, pierogis, and homemade kielbasa)
We've been to New York restaurant many times and have never been disappointed.
We were very excited to try New York while on vacation in nearby Hudson - particularly because they had vegan-friendly options for one member of our party. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the crowd and energy, and felt that we had stumbled on something really special. Things got off to a good start (despite a very wobbly, slanting table) with the welcome we received, the answers to our questions about vegan-friendly options, and our friendly server. The drinks and (vegan) pirogi came right away, and were great! However, over 45 minutes later, we still had not received our entrees. After several requests, our server brought out one of the two meals ... but the salad was missing its seitan. It took another few minutes for the second entree to arrive, and this one was also missing something. The vegetable pot-pie (a special that evening), came out as a bowl of (tasty) roasted vegetables in sauce ... with no pie crust or pastry! At this point, the Manager came over with the missing seitan and apologized for the mistake. He said that there was a communication breakdown with the kitchen about seitan being on the menu. When I asked about my missing pot-pie crust, he said they had left off the crust because it was not vegan. However, I am not the vegan one in the party and I was very much looking forward to my pie with crust. The server, in her efforts to meet our needs, assumed that we were both vegan. In the end, the manager brought me a large rectangle of puff pastry (slightly burnt, but delicious) to go with my vegetables. We were comped for our cocktails and for the pirogi. OVERALL, we were very happy with the quality of the food and the atmosphere, but disappointed with the over-45 minute wait for our meals (that came out wrong). We would come back, and hope they can resolve the issues with timing and miscommunication.
Had been once before and wanted to take family in town. Coincided with their renovation reopening.
Unique menu items and hard to limit what we were not able to try.
Although not a vegetarian, I highly recommend the ragout on polenta.
We had an enjoyable and delicious dinner! Thank you to our waitress for laughing along with us and adding to our wonderful family celebration!
Terrible service. Waited far too long for lunch. Very clear restaurant was understaffed. They should have denied more customers until those seated got their food
My husband and I have been to The New York Restaurant several times and love it for its atmosphere, beer selection, food (especially the cauliflower wings!!!) and service. It's a cozy, unpretentious spot for a romantic dinner, but it's good fun for groups too. We took our two boys with us for the first time this past weekend, and ran into our first disappointing experience which fell on my youngest. The kielbasa on the kids menu wasn't the same as the the kielbasa on the regular menu. My 10 year-old, who is a kielbasa fan, said it tasted weird and my husband said it tasted "old." But the biggest disappointment for our 10 year-old was that they were somehow out of the potato and onion pierogies (in a Polish restaurant at 6 p.m. on a Saturday?). He was really looking forward to those, and he wasn't interested in trying the truffle, spinach or sweet potato and kale versions.
My husband and I will be back, but probably without the kids.
This is our second time at the New York Restaurant in as many months. We were lucky to have Melissa as our server once again and she was fantastic: knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. We were seated right in front of the live music (guitar player) and it was just the right volume. The food, as it was last time, was excellent. We both opted for the Smoked Trout starter (a special of the day) and it was large enough for a meal, with homemade pickled cauliflower, carrots and onions. For my main course I opted for the Golubki (sp?) - two large cabbage leaves stuffed with rice and ground beef topped with a homemade tomato sauce and served over mashed potatoes. Needless to say after the starter I was only able to finish one and brought one home. Since we were there for a birthday we ordered the chocolate lava cake which was served with two very large scoops of ice cream drizzled with warm chocolate sauce (and a candle of course!). All in all an excellent meal - delicious food, wonderful service, great ambience and terrific value. Friends are coming to town for NYE and we're definitely planning to treat them to a meal at the New York Restaurant during their stay.
Never disappointed! Whether you are looking for Sunday jazz brunch or cozy dinner spot, this is the place. The food selection, whether you choose traditional Polish or American, is outstanding. The broccoli was so good even George HW Bush would have eaten it! The service is prompt, courteous, and attentive. The drinks are good, and the decor is wonderfully cozy.
My wife and I enjoyed our meal here. It has a special small town ambiance that we are not able to find in large cities we normally travel too. The food was great and we are definitely going to recommend to or family members that live in the area!
Second time here. Actually got same table. Service was good on a busy show night. We had several appetizers for dinner and it was great! Had chance to try more foods.
Great service and they had our table set up including high chair for our kid! Was very impressed!
Great stop for whenever I am in Catskill. The menu needs some updating - but always tasty. Love jazz on weekends
Outstanding in every way. A real neighborhood gem with an amazing selection that ranges from the familiar to the exotic. A perfect spot to dine before a show at one of Catskill's nearby theaters.
The food was OK but not amazing. Too much sauce on the cauliflower which therefore did not taste like cauliflower (and the sauce was too heavy on the vinegar).
The calamari were pretty dry and had no side dip or sauce to help.
BUT the biggest issue was how long it took to get our food.
Cozy on a chilly afternoon!
The food here was great, and it was the perfect lunch place on a blustery afternoon. We had a lovely window seat, perfect for people watching. Would definitely go again.
Haven’t had a bad experience yet!! The food is AMAZING and every member of the staff is top notch!!
One of my favorite restaurants in the area.
Will be back!
I discussed my issues with management. Two mistakes on the same plate.
Amazing dinner! Our server Melissa was fantastic. She helped guide us through the wonderful menu and pick delicious food. Drinks were great and reasonably priced. We live in nearby Hudson and The New York Restaurant will be on our favorites list! Highly recommended!
Wonderful appetizers and authentic Polish dishes. Definitely my new favorite restaurant.
Excellent restaurant with an emphasis on Polish Food. Service, Ambiance, and Food are excellent. Prices are a bit high for what you get but not out of line with other fine restaurants in the area. For example, we had spinach and cheese pierogis and a side of Polish Sausage. The sausage was a nice sized link but the pierogis I thought were a bit on the small side. Also occasionally they have Sauerkraut Pierogis as a special and I wish they were a regular menu item. My only other complaint is a slice of rye bread or pumpernickel would be nice while waiting for the main course. For my wife and I, it is THE restaurant to go to in Catskill.
We booked through Open Table and got a nice table towards the back with ample space. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable about all the bar drink options. The menu is a great mix of comfort food and creative twists on favorites. Prices are reasonable and the food was delicious. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. We enjoyed the experience and look forward to our next visit.
This has to be the 2nd or 3rd time here. Great food Cowboy Steak is a must. Brussels Sprouts are killer
We will be back and suggested it to another couple walking around Catskill after we left.
Great place for a casual dinner. The Polish specialties are excellent.
Good food and service. Lovely ambiance. Good value. A great addition to Catskill.
Awesome time, best waiter
Catskill had a stret fair and a portion of the crowd ended up at the restaurant at 6:00pm. They seemed unprepared for the early diners and service suffered.
Another enjoyable dinner at one of our favorite restaurants!
We both truly enjoyed the salad with ahi tuna ... superb!
