The Neely House
Beautiful restaurant. Steaks were fantastic. Loved it.
First time for a group of 7. The food was excellent , presentation great, ambiance and service superb. Highly recommend
We had a party of ten, there was only one other table in the room we were in. We did not eat appetizers, although several sounded delicious. We tried several different entrees. The food was well presented, the portions were ample, everyone enjoyed their drinks and finished their meals. We were celebrating a birthday and left for dessert and coffee at home, otherwise we would have tried the desserts. The Neely House is a beautiful restoration. We will definitely go back. This would be a good place for private parties.
The interior of the Neely House has been beautifully decorated, the taste of the food was perfect, and the service is the absolute best! The only two things I could fault is that breakfast the sausage, while delicious, was was the toughest sausage I have ever had to deal with. I have been to Neely multiple times, and have always found this issue with the sausage. The only other thing I noted is the table size is quite cramped, for the table settings. The restaurant is a wonderful dining experience, and I would definitely recommend it. I will be back.
This was our first visit.
The ambiance was nice. The menu was limited. The portions were small and disappointing for the purchase price. If you’re offering crab cakes on the menu for breakfast, it would be nice to have a nice size crab cake when serving eggs Benedict. Not a small silver dollar size crab cake. The sourdough bread was so hard to eat let alone cut with a butter knife. Consider serving the crab cake eggs Benedict with a homemade English muffin toasted on the lighter side.
I’ve had much better tasting crab than what was served to us. The optional sides were not listed on the menu nor did the waitress mention them while taking our order and we would have liked to try the homemade bacon. We only knew about the bacon when another customer was served bacon then we knew it was available.
Suggestion: it was stated that Mr. Neely had famous peach trees.
It would have been nice to offer either peach pie or peach cobbler on the menu since he was known for his peach trees. It would have been a nice touch in remembrance of him.
Ordered the chicken for brunch and it was dry and way over cooked. When I would go to cut a piece off it would crumble.
This was a valentine's dinner with my wife and it could not have been better. Everything about the meal and the ambiance were exceptional. The server was professional, knowledgeable and helpful. We had a nice table for two and had a delightful experience. We will definitely be back and recommend Neely House to our friends.
It was our first time to visit and we really enjoyed our Valentine's Day date at Neely House. We will return sometime when we can try items from the normal menu. My only critique is that I thought maybe they tried a little too hard to have fancy items for the special menu and our server couldn't explain the dishes. If the idea is to be Muncie's fine dining experience, I would expect the servers to have tasted the food and be schooled by the chef on the entrees in particular. Overall the food was good and we enjoyed the experience.
Helen our sever was fantastic! Lovely place great flavor and value.
It’s a favorite!
Went to the Neely House to celebrate Valentine's Day. The food was wonderful and the service was excellent.
We love coming to the Neely House on special occasions at this point in time because it has so much more to offer than most other places in Muncie. Even though it was Valentines Day there were plenty of staff to care for patrons and the food was also outstanding. Just be prepared for the bill as it is expensive but worth it.
The feast begins with the eyes: From the expertly renovated home and gardens to the elegantly-done interior design, the beautifully presented food, and the soft music, we found our entire experience reflected the proprietor's desire to celebrate an appreciation of love, beauty and food. Such a balance of flavor and texture in every dish on the 4-course special Valentine's Day menu! Gluten-free options were available for each course, and the chef was also happy to accommodate other dietary requests. I especially enjoyed the appetizer of tender goat meat alongside a raisin sauce, perfectly sautéed matchstick vegetables and sweet potato purée. Hands down the best restaurant in Muncie!
Beautiful old home! Delicious and unique food. We went for brunch on a very cold Sunday morning and sat on the second floor. The service was a little slow and we were a little cold. But we still enjoyed Neely house and overall had a very positive experience .
We loved it. The food was wonderful and the ambiance is spectacular. You can really feel all the care and love that has gone into the restoration.
Not in hurry to return
We had the lamb. It was fantastic. Wonderful sourdough bread. Fabulous coffee. Our server was the epitome of what a server should be ~ competent and educated, great understated sense of humor. We were in town for another family event. We bought a $100 gift certificate for our family hosts.
Best place for Brunch in Muncie. Great menu choices.
Fabulous setting - the house has a wonderful history, which our server shared with us. The wine list is outstanding. The food was thoughtfully prepared and presented. Disappointed that I didn’t save room for dessert. Will definitely return and look forward to this summer when we can dine outside.
I have been wanting to try The Neely House for quite some time. I had to run to Muncie from Indy of an evening, and decided to make a reservation. Everything was great! The young man who served us was attentive. Cocktails were creative and tasty, crab cake appetizer was small, but the heirloom tomatoes and sauces that went with them were great. Asparagus bisque was tasty--could have used some fresh cracked black pepper, but I used the table pepper. Duck breast was really creative with the sweet potatoes, cooked perfectly. It was eerily quiet in the room we were seated in, possibly some louder music or background noise would have been helpful. I'm sure on a busier night that is not a problem. This isn't cheap eats--but Muncie needed another fine(r) dining establishment and I'm exited for the future of this place!
Neely House has to be a top ten restaurant for the state of Indiana!
Yummy. Amazing wait staff service and choices for dinner
New Years Eve!
I brought my best friend. This is the first time she has been there. She LOVED the experience.
Lovely brunch with delicious food / drinks in a gorgeous house.
The waiter was excellent but our food came way too early. We didn’t have time to eat our soup. We had anticipated a leisurely meal.
First time visiting The Neely House this month and overall it was a really great experience! I will definitely be back on another special occasion. Muncie is lucky to have The Neely House in town.
Muncie’s best restaurant , hands down. A little pricey but well worth it
Excellent brunch menu - something for everyone, and the food is presented well, and tastes great. We will be back
Dinner at the Neely House was a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays. It was a delight.
If you like history, architect, fine dining, and ambiance then this is a perfect place for you and a nice blend of all 4. Very enjoyable evening with wonderful wine and appetizers.
Indoor or outdoor seating available. Wonderful choice whether you are looking for a cozy dinner for 2, dinner with friends or entertaining out of town guest or family for a special evening.
Extremely pleasant dining experience. The shellfish chowder was great. All the food was very good. Our server was fine, but I’ve had better.
Foods was wonderful. The Cardinal cocktail was great and the French press coffee is my favorite.
Service and food was superb, quite a nice place for a meal.
We attended brunch on a Sunday. Promptly met and seated . The Neely house is beautifully restored and presents a wonderful experience for dinning. We had a great waitress who was helpful in understanding the menu. Food was served in a very reasonable amount of time and everyone enjoyed their meals. They serve a good cup of coffee and our cups were kept filled. If I was to have a small complaint would be toast is not included in the meal and had to be purchased ala cart and felt one piece was a bit unusual. I would also say this is a very small complaint and was over all happy with the experience and will go back again.
Disappointment. Lamb was severely undercooked, even after it was sent back and reheated. Hair in biscuit and salad dressing. Limited menu with several items not a available. Inadequate parking. Not worth the money spent.
Eating brunch at The Neely House was a very elegant experience. The restaurant has a beautiful interior with a formal feel, but very welcoming. I had the Salmon Plate consisting of sashimi-style smoked salmon served cold, along with baby spinach, sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, red onions, capers, and an herb cream cheese. It came with an everything bagel but no side dish. For a side I had the Sweet Potato Home Fries which was unique in that it had both sweet potatoes and red potatoes along with carmelized onions. While the salmon plate was very good, I'd have to say the home fries were my favorite and they were delicious! They were very flavorful with a little spicy kick! For drinks I had the Pineapple Ginger Mojito and coffee. The mojito was very smooth and flavorful with plenty of mint. The coffee was a smooth blend and very good. For dessert I got the Bread Pudding to go. It was topped with raspberry, lemon and creme sauces and had poppy seeds throughout. While the bread pudding was very good, I felt like it did not need the poppy seeds and the dessert could have stood on it's own without them. Service was exceptional! John, my server, was very personable and constantly checking to see if I needed anything else including coffee and water refills. He provided a detailed description of the food I ordered so I would know what to expect. I couldn't have asked for a better server! A thank you to the Owner and Manager of The Neely House for providing a place to have a wonderful and memorable dining experience!
Very good food and the chef made my dinner without two ingredients! I don’t eat bacon-cheese . It was quiet and service was good too. Highly recommend
I fell in love with the elegance that was displayed in the personal touch by everyone when we walked in the front door
We took some old friends to Neely House for brunch. Their reaction: Wow! We all loved the experience. The food, drink, and service was top notch. And the coffee! I'd go there just to enjoy coffee and a little bite or dessert. We'll definitely go again, and have promised our friends a return visit for their visit next year.
Food was good, just wasn’t hot.
