   Food was ok, not what I was really expecting, could have been better. Table of 4 and I don't think any of us were knocked out by our entrees. Pricey but I expected that. Service was good, bartender was exceptional while we waited for a table.

   They gave us the worst cprner pf the bar when I was truing to book from weeks… and the food was not up to standard. On top the they were letting peopel coming to the bar ans stand creating an ambience pf a rustical restaurant instead of fine dining

    Their food is always delicious. The one disappointment was the dessert. It was only just ok. The price of $17 is too high for that small dessert that lacked a wow factor and that was short on flavor and appearance. Everything else we had was really good.

    The tuna tartare was an excellent appetizer. I had the elk tenderloin and my wife had the filet. Both were excellent! The flourless wam chocolate cake was a tasty gluten free dessert. Ambiance and service were top notch too! We will definitely be back next year!

    We’ve been coming to the National for the past couple years and while it’s still one of the best places in telluride, the quality of the food has gone down quite a bit. The last time we came here our dishes lacked flavor. This time the steaks were over cooked and many dishes at our table lacked flavor. They still have good cocktails and an excellent wine list but we were pretty disappointed over all.

    We used to love coming to the National. Food and service were always awesome. Our visit this time was a massive disappointment. The food was OK. The service was bad. We made a reservation 2 months in advance and they could only seat us at the bar. An hour and a half into our dinner, while we still had food and full drinks, the hostess came over and unapologetically told us we needed to get up as there was another reservation for the bar. While we were waiting to get our tab, ($500 mind you) she came back and says “you are welcome to stand with your drinks”. It was appalling. Especially when you have dined somewhere and tipped exceptionally for 5 years. O well. Might I suggest Kazahana?!

    Your review does not give an option on the noise level of too loud, which it is every time. Also. the linguini with clams-the clams were like rubber. The waiter acknowledged the matter and made an adjustment on the bill, but preparation of the clams was poor.

    National is simply an outstanding restaurant and experience. Everyone is friendly - hostess was outstanding, the waiter was friendly but trying nicely for us to go fast so they could turn the table.     I want to say this was the most horrible experience so that no one else would go LOL but obviously this is THE best restaurant that I have experienced from craft cocktails to impeccable cuisine this will always be a definite when visiting Telluride.     Great experience. Steve was our server, and the recommendations were perfect. We started with the crab cake, agave carrots, and a blue cheese/garlic flat bread. It was nice to see a Belle Pente pinot as a by-the-glass choice. There was no room for dessert, unfortunately, as we were stuffed by the Kobe ribeye, linguini and clams, duck, and trout dishes. We all tasted each others meals, and they all came away with a thumbs up. Would definitely come back when we re-ski Telluride.

    What an amazing dinner. First time here and pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent, with very knowledgeable staff. All the food was delicious…started with the crab cake and Brussel sprouts appetizers, both were some of the best I’ve ever had. Extensive wine list with fairly reasonable pricing. Will definitely make this a regular stop when we come to Telluride!

    Our evening at The National couldn't have been better. The food was delicious. The service was outstanding and our waiter was very attentive without being in our face. When I inquired about the glass of wine that I had ordered, he immediately asked if I would like him to replace it with another selection. The interior of the restaurant is very attractive. So try to get a reservation and enjoy an wonderful evening.
