Exceptional personal service, not over done, the food was exquisite, the surroundings are elegant
Beautifully plated and even better tasting masterpieces with one of the best wine lists in town!
Great experience all the way around... unusual and delicious cocktails, excellent food and attentive service. Highly recommend!
Food was exceptional. After the unique salads, we had the local trout and braised lamb, which were both excellent. The sommelier helped us select a great bottle of wine for our meal.
With two of the best chefs in Telluride, The National is not to be missed! Experienced and friendly staff, intimate atmosphere is almost urban-like..cozy and modern at the same time. The menu isoutstanding and creative. Our family loved the rock shrimp appetizer and the mains were impeccably prepared. We can't wait to go back!
The food and atmosphere was great; however, our reservation had us waiting longer than normal to be seated. During that wait, we had no where to stand except beside the bar where I felt I was constantly in the waiters’ way. The service was good, but I felt our waiter could have been a little more knowledgeable on the recipes and portions. I would say we ordered too much because we got the impression our portions were going to be small based off what the waiter said.
Great food, cocktails, and atmosphere. A definite must if you are in Telluride
We ordered Colorado golden trout as main course and pastrami short rib. The trout was crispy and delicious. The pastrami short rib surprisingly exceeded our expectations, tender and flavorful.
Beautiful building great food although out of a few things that we wanted to try Bar service was great table service was very good but a little inexperienced but I sure time will work that out.
The National is a fantastic addition to Telluride. Already have another reservation for later this week with friends.
Love love love ...best restuarant in telluride in my humble opinion ...first descent is the perfect cocktail after big mountain day...wakes up the mouth w just the right amount of heat w Habanero salt on half the rim so you can control how amped you want the flavor kick to be ...the flatbread w butternut squash purée ...fig and arugula w goat cheese was divine ...cauliflower vegan soup a delight ...hubby had trout ..he's a Fishman and likes a simple preparation ...food is clean ...palette dynamics are there ...couldn't stop raving ..I had scallops w grapefruit fennel and black lentils ..the flavor combo kept on giving ...so good we came back and repeated the same dinner later in the week ...vegan Dessert selection could be broadened ...vibe was great ...
Family spring break night out. Great evening with good ambiance in an original Telluride brick interior with modern twist. W shared elicious food - shrimp appetizer crunchy with a sweet flair, pear salad flavorful and crisp, fresh trout was delicious, and duck was mouthwatering! Unfortunately, no room for dessert! First time here, we will plan to be back!
Scallops were amazing. Lamb would have been better bone in with sauce. But very good. Just not enough Elsa ice for gnocchi it was served with. Deserts were divine. Banana pudding and bread pudding were five stars.
Fun place, great atmosphere and wonderful food. We had the scallops, the branzino, the trout, and the lamb. All wonderful. The winelist is extensive and reasonably priced. The sommelier is fabulous. Great meal!
Best meal I have had in months - fresh, creative and delicious. Every plate was great from the popcorn shrimp/calamari to the branzino. I can’t stop thinking the tangy brussel sprouts. Wish I lived in Telluride - I would be a regular! Ambiance, staff and service also top notch.
Great new addition to Telluride. Everything was delicious and the service was great.
It was my Birthday and always have high expectations for my dinner and everything from the app to dessert exceeded my expectations!! Delicious!
They need to work on their service. Waiter thought it was incredible that the porterhouse for 2 portions should be cut by the kitchen-a simple request-not a shocker like it seemed to him. Salads were all served to the wrong patrons. Food is very good
Family in town. Everything was excellent
Everything was delicious!
Overall evening was fun. The ambience has a very cool vibe and overall the food was good. The thing that was very offputting was the table service around the fish entree prepared for 2. In particular, the 2 people at outtable of6 who were sharing We’re not seated near one another and they asked if the fish could be filleted so they could more easily share. The staff responded that they are not equipped to do so. If they aren’t equipped how are we supposed to be equipped?
Awesome ford and service. Wish they had one domestic beer like Coors lite, but otherwise a great addition to Telluride’s restaurant repertoire.
We came for our last night of vacation. The excellent online reviews drew us. We were terribly disappointed.
From the moment we walked in, the vibe was unfriendly.
We arrived around 15 minutes early on a Monday night planning to have a cocktail at the bar first. The hostess quickly informed us out table wasn’t ready and seemed unhappy when we said we’d gladly stand by the bar. It took a while the bartender’s attention; the cocktails were pricy and extremely mediocre.
The appetizer my son and partner ordered came out long before my salad appetizer. The $95 steak my son and partner shared was seasoned with a strange Mexican spice that made it less than enjoyable. It also came with no sides. They ordered potatoes and had to get 2 sides of potatoes as the sides were so small. My trout was fairly tasteless and overly buttery. The chocolate dessert cake arrived partially frozen.
Needless to say this was not a standout dinning experience.
a great addition to Telluride. Wonderful service, good wines, great food.
WE LOVE THE NATIONAL! Apparently a new restaurant in Telluride -- we went 2 out of our 3 nights in town we loved it so much! Amazing food, very awesome staff!
Neither food nor service were a distraction on my date night, and that’s unusual these days. A little glitch here or there, a delay, an ambiguous comment from the staff, an overlooked side dish, anything can throw off a romantic evening. But last night everything went absolutely smoothly at this restaurant . The food actually exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth coming back.
One of the dishes we ordered had a sauce that tasted a bit off. As I have previously been a server, I appreciated how the manager and server went above and beyond to correct it and make sure we were still happy with the meal/experience. All the other food and drinks were fantastic!
Great food and ambiance
Amazing food, service, and environment! Will not hesitate to return!
Service was slow and spotty, as in 20 mins between courses, 20 mins for cocktails, etc. food was spot on!
An excellent addition to the Telluride dinning scene.
We had a great dinner! Cocktails were amazing-Mountain Shrine highly recommended(get it with vodka if you’re not a gin fan). We started with two apps: the shrimp & the short rib. Both were very good. Two of us split the porterhouse, and the other had the filet. Both were cooked to perfection.
We ended with the bread pudding-a great end to a fabulous meal
Can’t wait to come back next time we are in Telluride
Our best restaurant experience in Telluride for the week! Service was so friendly, informative, and efficient. The great service with the ultra-cool look of The National added to the over-the-top delicious food and beverage possibilities. Our party of 4 was so delighted with this experience, the “yummy every bite and sip joy”, the staff’s kindness and attention to us, and the vibe of the place, especially to celebrate our last night in town on Valentines Day. Much appreciation to The National!!
This is our new favorite restaurant in Telluride. Hands-down amazing food, excellent staff, beautiful space. It's the new happening place in town!
Not a place to take kids. No high chairs. No children menu. However, they were exceptionally courteous to us when we went there with a 4 year old and a 1 year old. It just would have been nice to know that in advance.
Great experience. maybe the best restaurant in Telluride?
you should try it1
The food, cocktails and atmosphere is beyond spectacular at the National!
Great food, ambiant and service. I will go again on my next trip to Telluride. Try the Shrimp, Scallops and Tuna.
Great new restaurant in Telluride! Love the atmosphere, service was very good, menu has so many things - wanted to try them all! We split the whole Branzino and it was one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had. Highly recommend The National!!!
