My all time favorite place for business meals and meetings! Food and service is always consistent. Love it and highly recommended.
Te Service Is not a good opinión. he recomendad us more expensive menu
It was a special birthday and Chef Zarkarian offered his personal congratulations! It was amazing!! AND the best hamburgers (both beef and lamb) in NY
Food delicious, good service, cozy place but... the wines are really overpriced. And when one at 15 per glass was not available, the waiter suggested a more expensive one, but charged it! It is not the customer who should pay the lack of availability!
An inattentive, slow, and personality-free waiter can ruin the overall experience.
Nos encantó!!! Una cena realmente maravillosa.
Pasamos la noche buena en el restaurante. La comida nos gusto y el servicio fue muy bueno. Muy atentos. Gracias!
There's noting special to the place, that's why I found it expensive. Food was good.
Impeccable service, great atmosphere, food was to die for reasonably priced. Overall we had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend!
I find it hard to give this restaurant even 1 star for for quality and service on the night we went. I do hope this was just an off night for them as I’ve followed and liked the owner for many years, was referred by the concierge from our hotel nearby, and was happy to be able to get a last minute reservation for 4 the night we went during the busy week of Christmas. I ordered the sliders with pickled jalapeño to start.....they were so incredibly dry and tasteless I had to actually say something to our server and they were promptly taken away after two bites. I fully expected an adjustment to our bill or at the very least, a comment or option for an alternative from our waiter......none of which happened. The other 3 dishes arrived (lukewarm), nothing special, and certainly nothing that we feel would be worthy of a repeat visit. Overall, very disappointing considering a total bill for a family of 4 came to about 275.00....although that did include one bottle of wine, which was the only redeeming part of the meal. So many other great places in Midtown.....wrong choice, wrong night (hopefully)?!
Warm ambience and terrific food. The angry burger is a must!
Delicious! Food was incredible and the atmosphere was terrific.
The bartender was the best thing about this place. The host was disinterested. The front of the house was chaotic. Maybe it’s better when it isn’t Christmas in NYC. I’d give it another try.
Had a lovely time and the bottomless mimosas were very good.
Probably the worst dining experience I've had in the city. The waiter passed us up for about half an hour before I asked where our waiter was. Someone else took out order and after that we were left to rot at the table. It was horribly loud and needed a flashlight to see the menu. Never again.
The food was not as great as I expected.
Thank you for making my anniversary dinner so special! The complimentary dessert was so thoughtful!
We had a nice dinner. One of us had short ribs on our minds due to a previous review and unfortunately this was no longer on the menu. Filet was good and the chicken was as well. Brussel sprouts were yummy. Fries were disappointing (appears they don’t change the oil regularly). Our waiter was very pleasant and accommodating.
Went with our two friends from England for dinner a few nights ago and we were blown away with the attention from the manager and staff and the wonderful dinner we had. Everyone made sure we enjoyed our dinner and we did! Beautiful restaurant, great wine and atmosphere. Thanks Jonathan for all your help!
Solid food, good service, albeit pricey but it is midtown Manhattan
Had been here before and enjoyed it - was able to get a table durin. The Christmas season and now I know why. Simple dinner was 2.5 hours, service was totally inattentive, fat to few servers and they didn’t know what they were doing. Food was good when it arrived but service was incredibly poor. Assume this place will not be around long.
Though I’ve eaten and had events here before, they managed to both ignore me and make me feel unwelcome as a single diner. Quite disappointed.
We visit NYC 2-3 tines per tea and love having brunch at The National! Nice selection, pleasant staff and reasonably good value. I highly recommend it!!
Nice for brunch in mid-town area.
We had a great time at The National. We were disappointed when we arrived at 9:30 am and found they did not start brunch until 10! However, they graciously shifted our reservation and we returned to a great table and waiter. The food was excellent, service unhurried, and our mimosas stayed full. I would definitely come back when I am in this part of the city.
We ate here on a Saturday 10 am for breakfast and it was busy/holiday season. The waiter had a hard time keeping up - our coffee was slow to be refilled, cold, then the cream ran out. One cream curdled so we needed new cups. Our food took forever to come out and when it did, one dish was cold. They offered to heat it up or take it off the bill (I chose the latter as we were in a hurry). The food was really good, even cold, but the place was busy and there was a REALLY loud group at a big table behind us. They were not only loud voices, but also pounding on the table, sitting/standing, and it really made the whole experience unpleasant. We mentioned it to the manager on our way out, so not sure if there were any actions after we left (the noisy group was still going strong when we finished). I probably won't go back, there are many other places in the area to choose from.
Great Manhattan!! Had a great time catching up over dinner!
Food ok, service, not so much.
Good food, service was adequate
We had a great cousins get together! Service flexible and great. Food very good!!
Always great but really disappointed the chicken salad disappeared from the menu!!!!
If I could have given the service a negative number I would have. I made a reservation for 5 but 1 person had canceled. We were moved from our original table to a table in the bar. It was a business dinner planned well in advance. One of the ladies I was entertaining kept getting hit in the head by a gentleman at the bar (the table was a low table so it was right at elbow level with the patrons at the bar).
I went over to the maitre d' and explained the situation with a request to be moved to a different table but he refused rudely. After my prospective client got hit several more times, he agreed to move us.
The waiter was clearly stressed upon arrival and it took him over an hour to take our order. He never once checked on us or came to pour our wine and when I waived him down because we needed to order another bottle he told me I’d have to wait until he had time to come back instead of taking the order then.
I would absolutely never recommend this place or go back there. Someone needs to manage this place - the service is horrible. BTW the food was pretty decent and the prices are good so someone needs to get their act together.
Too noisy for sure
The only thing consistent at this restaurant is the terrible service, high volume noise level and mediocre food.
Love the food every time. Like other side of dining room best.
The fish was excellent, expertly done. The service was fair at best, making us feel a little rushed to order and without much hospitality considering the price tag. Cocktails were far more expensive than their taste suggested, and while the entrees were delicious, they were not satisfying. The ambiance is cold and dark, making it feel like a perfunctory experience.
First we were offered table next to the swinging kitchen door. No thanks. Then they forgot about us as we waited at the bar. Thirty minutes later we were seated. The drinks were good, the bartender very friendly but the food was not worth waiting for. Perhaps other meals are good here but the brunch was sub par.
Service was good;
food was good but not really amazing.
Their prices were quite high considering the breakfast items were nothing special. I expected something better from this place
Great time! Great food! Went there with our 9 & 2 year old. Very accommodating staff. A bit loud but seating arrangements separated enough so your individual table conversations go well. Nice bar with cocktail/dining table area. Additional dining area away from this is quieter and nicely spaced. Several very comfortable 4-5 place booths round out seating options.
The food and service are totally worth the reservation.
