Chef Geoffrey Zakarian brings his vision of a contemporary New York grand café to life at The National Bar & Dining Rooms. Housed in the same 1927 Emery Roth-designed building as The Benjamin Hotel, The National's all-occasion modern bistro offerings satiate guests from breakfast through late night. Modeled after the celebrated grand cafés in Europe, The National is both residential and metropolitan in design and offers thoughtful details such as antiqued mirrors, a bronze spiral staircase, distressed peacock blue and chocolate leather banquettes, classic marble table tops, and black and white glazed-tile flooring.

Best steak ever!
Slim on gluten free options (for example, no gf substitute for the bread)
Expensive, but I guess that’s bc it’s New York

Returning this time for a Birthday because of such a great experience last time and they did not disappoint. Excellent food and staff accommodated special candle requests and staff added their own contribution with a Birthday song.

Service was excellent. Pork chop special and the pork tenderloin with peach BBQ sauce were tender and flavorful. The broccoli raab was tough and large stalks, could not cut with steak knife. The profiteroles with chocolate sauce were very yummy!!!!

Food delicious, good service, cozy place but... the wines are really overpriced. And when one at 15 per glass was not available, the waiter suggested a more expensive one, but charged it! It is not the customer who should pay the lack of availability!
