This was me and my friends first time at this place. The service is terrible even the host Michael which did not seem to have a clue what was going on. The restaurant is named Motown Bistro and the music was terrible. I guess it was Frank Sinatra night. I do not remember him being s part of Motown. Our food was not hot at all we ordered the New York Strip and it was the cheapest piece of meat I have eve tasted. The 18% gratuity is included no matter what. I see why because our waitress was all over the place and she probably wouldn't get any tips ever. So no this was my first and last time and one more thing there are no refills on fountain drinks...smh.
I really enjoyed my first time here. The food was delicious and our server was great. I will definitely be back.
Waitress was awesome... prices were reasonable... food was ok... I ordered Shrimp & Broccoli Alfredo, literally 1 piece of broccoli literally... 2 members of my party sent food back to be heated...overall food was tasty.
The service was very slow. Luckily, we weren’t in a rush. The server kept apologizing, so I’m not sure if this is common. The food was good. The music was good. My friend said her food was cold.
They were out of ingredients to even make serveral of the dishes we wanted to order, we asked for a manager, he came to the table and made nothing but excuses. One of the couples soup came out cold, the server keep forgetting to bring ordered items to the table, like my soup, salad and appetizers, both cold like the other couples, both couples bills where incorrect, this was a total debacle and by the way, this was our first visit, there will not be a second, horrible first impression, so sad.
Our party could clearly notice that our waitress was not having a good evening. Which her personal issues should never affect her performance. Very rude & not pleasant. And apparently we weren't the only table that noticed her unpleasant service. I loved the band but the sound was blaring. My Atlantic Salmon was great! My husband's Chicken Pasta Alfredo was terrible. It wasn't plentiful for the price & he mentioned that there were only 5 bite sized chicken pieces in his dish. The upholstery in the circular table needs to be repaired. Constructive criticism is the best. I hope someone listens.
Friday night has live jazz guitarist. Great music but a bit loud for my preference.
We really enjoyed ourselves and we look forward to seeing you again
Great food and pleasant music. Our server was very attentive and personable. Would definitely come back and dine in.
The worst experience I have had the Uber driver could not find the place neither could we. There was a loud jazz event next door the food was nothing to write about. And I’m really not this person this is my first review on any app but I felt this needed to be heard
Appetizers and drinks were good, but entrees were overpriced and lacked flavor. Service was nice but slow. Wasn’t a big deal because we enjoyed the band and vocalist. If I go again it will be only for the music and a burger. Do not go here thinking you will get a good steak or seafood meal. Sorry....this is a bar/club with bar/club food.
The dined here for the 1st time on a Friday night. The live entertainment was awesome. Our server was very attentive and we didn't have to ask for anything. The food was delicious, we had surf and turf and the cowboy steak. The drinks were strong, which is a plus for us. We will be back!
We truly enjoyed our dinner at Motown Bistro. The service provided by Iris was outstanding and the food was absolutely delicious. The jazz band added just the right ambience and was very good.
P.S. You must try the peach cobbler and the lobster thermidor. Don't miss an opportunity to dine at this fantastic restaurant.
Excellent meal and service. I'll definitely come back
Only on Tuesday my server johnathan was so great wonderful customer service he needs a higher pay he made our experience wonderful
Everything was great. The food was delicious, customer service was perfect. I will definitely be back in the future
Very nice restaurant, cozy, great food, drinks and music.
Shawn was nice she was trying to make sure that I was taking care of since they made my food wrong. But other than that I would go back it was a nice place to eat. And it was my first time and I did enjoy myself.
The food was amazing. The service was horrible. Waited 2 hours for entrees when the restaurant was less than 25% full. One order was wrong, and received an attitude from the ‘manager’ about the order that was incorrect. This was a special occasion for our group and the waiting and the attitude ruined the entire night.
I took my fiancé for his bday and I must say the environment was very warming.. Our waitress Shawn was amazing, we loved her energy with great conversation.
I really enjoyed the food and the decor. Our server was Shawn and she was awesome. She really made the experience great. Will definitely be back. I had the 18oz steak and it was delicious.
Great experience for me and the wife
The ambiance at the restaurant was amazing. The music selection was perfect. We came on a Tuesday night for crab night and it was truly delicious. My server was Iris.
I completely enjoyed my experience. However, it was very strange that the hostess felt the need to lie to me and my boyfriend. We made a reservation online and I requested a booth. When we got there, we were seated at a table. We ask the hostess about this and she explained that unless you came by earlier today, booths are for people with parties of 4 of more. Then for the next three hours, she proceeds to sit couples (parties of 2) in all the booth. There was not a single party larger than 2 that sat in the booths. I found that very rude to lie. If a booth wasn’t open for our reservation, just say so. Do not lie about your inability to keep a booth open for people with reservation.
Price for crab legs went up but were delicious hot and fresh. Still worth it. No time limit. Mashed potatoes and corn were bland. Companion ordered crab stuffed salmon with veggies. Portion seemed small. I would go again to try different items. Server was good. They add gratuity to bill automatically regardless of number in party.
Went for the Crab leg special and was mislead by the price also ordered an appetizer spinach and artichoke dip and it was tasteless and took to long.
Service was great! Our waitress was very friendly. We came for the all-you-can-eat crab legs deal advertised online and the price was $15 more expensive than the price that was listed. They also set a timer for the amount of time you were allowed to stay for your reservation. This was much different than the special had been handled the previous week.
They don't tell you about the 18% gratuity until it's time pay.
The ambience, the food, and the live music were the best part of my experience. However, the service was poor, as I dealt with a waitress who abandoned our table! The food was either not available as on the menu, or took forever to arrive! I complained and did receive a $20 credit to come back. I'm just not sure if I will return any time soon.
First time at The Motown Bistro. Kudos to the Chef as food was impeccable and amazing. We enjoyed a whole lobster dinner and a crab stuffed salmon dinner. Every bite, down to the last was phenomenal. Our server was Daniel. She was very professional, prompt, very knowledgeable of the menu and provided service with a smile. My husband and I will be back very soon!
Salmon not all that good, lamb chops were amazing wings and fries were great as usual . Food comes out slow but hot when we get it each time. Lobster tails weren’t my fav at all very dry and dull tasting
I made a 8:30 reservation had to stand for 20 minutes never got seated or a damn glass of water while I wait. It was people who sat for 2 hrs and said they never got food. It was ridiculous never again . They need to have a better set up or more workers
When me and my date came there was no server around no host no one eating and a angry crowd thats telling the ppl standing waiting ( we been here 1hr 1/2 haven't received any services no water nothing that the second red flag. And for us to have a reservation @8 there was no were to sit.👎i have to give u guys a 1 🌟 due to this very disappointed
Horrible service, walked out after 1hr 30min no food , watched tables get served that arrived after our party of 4 ... it was all you can get crab night so there should of been no wait for use because other tables were getting rounds of refills of crab legs , of the 3 side salads they brought 1 was just that a salad no tomatoes no cumbers the waitress was notified and she promised a new salad ... when asked to speak to the manager he displayed a nonchalant matter and his exact words were "maybe yall just got lost in the sauce" ... at that moment we got out things and left , we had reservations for 2 days in a row crab leg night and lobster night of course we canceled the other reservations.
The service could be alot better. Very rude and judgemental when first approached by the server. He took our orders and disappeared for about a good 15 minutes. Never came back to update us on how long our meal was going to be or asked if we wanted more drinks. I have never been to a all you can eat and be timed as to how long you have to eat unlimited crab legs. As soon as ypu receive your plate you have exactly ONE HOUR to eat all the crab legs you can receive after you get your firat plate. The food was good. Service needs some adjusting.
Great Experience Food was Amazing. We will definitely visit again very soon.
2nd visit. Only thing better than the great food was the outstanding service! Excellent value. We have done dinner and brunch. Highly recommend both. The decor is the only question here. It is more of a neighborhood spot than a fine dining establishment. But a great neighborhood spot!
The overall experience was lackluster, the food was bland and cold, the waitress was not aware of the cocktail menu and the manager tried to justify the reason for adding a 18% gratuity to the bill without asking if we enjoyed our food and drinks. I believe in tipping but from start to finish the experience was an experience.
The food here is no frills but good. The Menu is sort of simple when compared to Detroit’s new restaurants. The interior is old and sort of dingy. Music was great. We waited an hour between appetizers and the main entree. Chef Kenny came out to introduce himself and show us around the bakery, event hall and Bert’s during the wait time.
I would definitely go back. Shawn , our waitress, was great.
The experience started well enough, with a wonderful jazz duo (go Marty!) playing at at perfect level. We were greeted warmly and seated at one of their booths. Although cozy, we found the seats uncomfortable, with the feeling like we were leaning forward when we sat back on the benches. Our attendant was friendly and mildly entertaining, and knew and described the dishes on the menu well. Our drink order took about 15 minutes, and was brought out piecemeal, and was incorrect. Our dinner orders came in a fairly timely fashion. The reviews of the food were mixed from fair to good. My clam chowder was tasty but tepid. My burger was good but not outstanding. The 18% "service charge" on our bill was a surprise considering we were a foursome. It's an ok restaurant that could be much better with a few tweaks. A piano bar would be nice...
