The Nook Chophouse - Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
Open Friday/Saturday all winter long. Open daily for dinner service over the Holidays from December 20 - January 4, 2020.
Baby bok choy had sand in it that hurt two of my molars.
We were celebrating a 40th wedding anniversary, had told the hostess before we were seated, they couldn’t care less.
Fabulous experience. The only thing better than the food was the service. Can’t wait for our next visit to JPL.
The food was really good. We had to wait a long time for our main courses but Tim was really great and provided some wine while we waited.
We came here with another couple for Valentine’s Day. The service was incredibly slow. It took over 3 hours. The food was great however. Unless the service changes, I don’t think I would come back. We had much better service in the lounge
Everything was so fresh, the service was excellent. I’m very happy with my sisters visit and to be treated so well. Thank you!
The best Tomahawk rib eye I’ve ever had!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a lovely place for dinner if you’re willing to drop some money. The food was delicious & they’re very accommodating to dietary restrictions. The food itself while still overpriced is worth it. The wine however is astronomically priced for what it is. Skip on the alcohol here! The waiter was so kind & helpful. Great experience overall
We went here for my wife’s birthday and were not disappointed. We had a plan to order the Cowboy Ribeye for two and we were not disappointed. It was carved in front of us at the table and we enjoyed it with a nice bottle of wine.
The Ribeye does come with two sides so we ordered the Brussel Sprouts and the Cheddar Potato Gratin. We would next time probably go with the Potato Pure and the Grill Asparagus. There was no room for an Appetizer or Dessert but with a steak that good there were not necessary.
Well done The Nook until we meet again.
Way over priced for what you get. We both had different cuts of beef. Tasteful but thin and a bit tough, even the tenderloin. Bread was okay, not great. Of the sides, the mashed Yukon Gold potatoes were the best.
My little guy ordered the chicken noodle soup and it came with a 12 inch long piece of black hair!! Completely disgusting!! And he found it AFTER a few spoonfuls! And the "compensation" for that?? He got his $5 soup and $5 drink for free......big whoop. I was expecting at least half off the entire meal....w/o having to ask for it.
For a restaurant that charges those kind of prices in a place like JPL this is COMPLETELY unacceptable. Ive never found a hair in my Mcds food and i go there a lot. Been to the moose nook once in 5 yrs and this happens. WONT be going back nor recommending it to anyone.
And now that i think about it i shudder to think where they got his replacement soup from?? Same pot as the one with the hair probably! Should have ordered him something else in hindsight.
Wonderful meal and experience!
Service and food was excellent. However I felt that the seating could have been a bit more intimate
Sorry to write this as I don’t recall ever having given such low rankings before but believe it is justified. Our server was full of himself and more interested in chatting with pretty girls at other tables or impressing those he thought would tip well (Julian I think?) ... despite his poor service , I tipped reasonably well . The good was horrible! True I set the bar high as I expected a lot from this establishment, but I honestly couldn’t find a bar low enough for which they could meet . We are a blue collar couple ( fireman and RMT) that has raised six kids so this was to be a treat for us ! Bread and French onion soup was good . Shrimp cocktail was obviously old and previously frozen as the meat was fleshy and shrimp was tasteless , accompanied cocktail sauce wasn’t much better . Treated myself to an ‘aged’ rib eye because the marbling gives this cut a melt in your mouth tenderness quality ... the marbling in the steak I got was hard grisel throughout ! Ordered medium rare and it’s cooking level varied from medium rare to medium well thought out the steak and a lot of the preferable fat was burnt . Ordered peppercorn sauce and despite my objections that I got au jus to the girl who brought our food it us ( same mistake table next to us) I got our waiter to look at it and he brought an additional side ‘ just in case’ which obviously was to cover for the original mistake , but even the correct sauce was horrid : no peppercorns, tremendously fatty and Luke warm at best . Dessert was chocolate cake that I could of easily bought as the local Safeway , had zero qualities of being freshly made onsite which is what you would expect. My wife’s meal was simply no better. Like I said this was to be an extravagant treat for us and it left me wishing we had just gone into town for pizza . I have prepared much better steaks of better quality on my own BBQ . I think that the level of care that is being put into service and meal prep needs to be reviewed
Excellent food and service. So good we went back a second night. Would recommend it to any meat lover, less so for my vegetarian friends.
Excellent food prepared very well. The server was attentive. Excellent place for a special occasion.
Food and service was excellent! We had fantastic seats right in front of the fireplace and the staff did everything they could to make everything perfect. We will be returning for sure.
God food, quite expensive, very small portions. I wouldn’t return.
We stayed at JPL this past weekend and decided to book our annual holiday dinner (paid for as a Christmas gift by my husband’s employer) at the Nook Chophouse. We were very much looking forward to our highly anticipated steak dinner at the Moose’s Nook. At $52 for a steak (without any sides) we were expecting the best of the best, but were very sadly disappointed. My very expensive tenderloin steak (which was ordered medium) came out looking like a tiny lump of coal and my husband’s was equally as sad looking. We really should have sent them back, but were hungry and didn’t want to wait for remakes, so decided to give the steaks the benefit of the doubt and attempt to enjoy them anyway. If we had been buying this meal ourselves we definitely would have asked for our money back. We are shocked that a restaurant charging this high of prices, and operating under the Fairmont label, would serve such lacking product.
We enjoyed the food in this special place!
Excellent experience for my wife’s 50th birthday! Wagyu Steak was melty lol my wife’s prime rib was better then the Kegs ....nice ambience seated right by the fire!
Good food, nice staff and friendly service. Found the restaurant ambience and decor pretty dated and was under the impression there was live music (from this site) we were disheartened to find out they do not have that.
Incredible service, incredible food, and a wonderful atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond in helping us celebrate our anniversary.
Faristo took great care of us. The food was delicious and definitely worth the visit. Try sitting in front of the fireplace, it's a great setting for a romantic (and meaty) dinner!
The experience we had at the Nook was extraordinary. The service was superb, the ambiance was perfect and the food was superb- nothing better exists! We were so pleased with our experience. Thank you all at the Nook!
Best dish was osso bucco with scallops which was outstanding!
Super amiable but professional staff. Marvelous Tomahawk steak. Lovely desserts. Pleasing room.
Best onion soup ever!
Menu décevant, service très bien , si c’est une des seules options plus haut de gamme a jasper, on a un problème
Celebrated our 40th anniversary at the Lodge, dinner was amazing.
My wife and I dined with reservations and we were seated on time. We didn’t see anyone to order for 20 minutes. We ordered appetizers without drinks, and entree’s at the same time. Appetizers came after 20 minutes. We waited 35 minutes for entree’s and then 35 minutes on the final check. I complained about the service to the person removing my plates, and low and behold the waiter appeared with a dessert menu, which I declined. He then said dessert was free. I declined. He then said could he wrap up some desserts, and I declined. He brought the check without apology but said he discounted the meal 50%. I said that wasn’t necessary. I didn’t want free food, I wanted good service. The food actually was excellent. I canceled my reservation for the next evening. I wouldn’t bother if I was you.
I have no problems paying $60 an entree for dinner, but it must be worth it. Unfortunately, our plates were not. The bisque, breads and desserts hit the mark.
Very slow! 45 minutes between salad and entree.
One of the best meals I have ever had. Delicious and creative, exceptional!!
Class act we were treated amazingly! Restaurant was a bit cold though but food was superb.
Try the tastes of SMORES dessert its decadent and delicious. Highly reccomend this restaurant as outstanding. YOU WILL LOVE THE STEAKS AND THE SMORES DESSERT!!!
The food was amazing! Our waiter was incredible, especially with helping my pregnant wife pick the right meal. We will for sure be back!
Leading off with for the price point, Nook did not deliver the value. Saying that, our meals were not horrible either. I commend Nook for making good on the poor quality of the meals. The service was great when present, and the staff friendly though very hurried. It was clear that staffing levels were too low. Our meals took a great deal of time to arrive, which contributed to the ultimate poor quality of the experience.
A perfect dinner. Don't miss the lamb rack, but everything we oredered was jus excellent! And a perfect service too.
Fantastic roast beef and lamb. Good selection of wine. Great service.
