Wonderful service! We were seated right away and service couldn’t have been better. Wine choices were plentiful and food was excellent. Desserts were delicious as well. The only negative would be that the butter that was served with the yummy complimentary bread was cold making it hard to spread. A small thing that many restaurants forget about! Overall though, a great evening out!
The server continued to walk past our table time and time again and we felt very rushed. We would have had dessert but the constant watching over our shoulders was too much. I had been here before and the service was similar but the food was better. If it were not so convenient to the Union Station, I wouldn't go back but I probably will.
Had dinner on a Wednesday. Not too crowded and had a nice meal. Service was great! We've been there before, but a long time ago. Glad to see the restaurant hasn't slipped - and will be back, sooner than "several years"
i WENT THERE BECAUSE IT WAS WALKING DISTANCE TO MY HOTEL; HAD NO IDEA IT WAS SO FREQUENTED BY MEMBERS OF CONGRESS.
Wonderful, quiant atmosphere in this old fashioned DC restaurant and bar. Excellent service too!
Convienient location for a good lunch. Great service.
Wonderful comfortable dining! Great linguine with seafood, oysters, Irish coffee - the way dining out should be, terrific waiters who really care about your happiness
The Monocle is expensive and somewhat noisy, but the food was Fantastic and worth a special occation. We had great service and would happily go back.
Amazing food, great service and awesome ambience..thanks.
Great food! Great atmosphere! Very reasonable prices! We were able to makes reservations the same day and parked right in front of the restaurant for 6:45 pm dinner. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend eating here.
We had wonderful service, reasonalbe prices, and well prepared food and drinks. This is the perfect place to bring business associates and friends. Nick is an amazing man who knows how to make patrons feel like they are at home.
Fine food, excellent service. It’s not a noisy place, but not really quiet either. A bit pricy, but worth it.
Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was excellent!
Always plan on a meal at The Monocle when visiting DC. Food is excellent and service is second to none.
Everything was excellent! Food, Staff! We enjoyed our special lunch times! Thank you!
Amazing meal and great service! First time in and will definitely be back
The Monocle is a classic; solid food professional environment; attentive but not overly "fake" friendly servers and enough space between tables to enable a functional business meeting.
This is the absolute BEST place to go for a business lunch while visiting Capitol Hill. A fixture on Capitol Hill for decades (the building falls under the control of the Architect of the Capitol but the restaurant is privately owned) that is well known to lawmakers and lobbyists alike. A restaurant located this close to the Capitol could easily try to coast on its proximity but they are consistently at the top of their game service-wise as well as with their cuisine. It can get expensive, but meals around Capitol Hill generally are unless you are eating in one of the congressional cafeterias. Overall, the Monocle is five stars/diamonds/aces/yahtzee...
Another great lunch at the Monocle and excellent food and service. The noise level was just right and easy to carry on a conversation. I highly recommend the Monocle!
Both the food, drinks and service were excellent! Went during DC Restaurant Week and their menu was very extensive. Plenty of choices for each course.
Fabulous old school DC!
The food was very good, but I think a little over priced. I would recommend as it’s a DC historical staple.
Excellent food and great service! I met an old friend at the Monocle for lunch and had a nice time and the noise level was low—we had no problem carrying on a conversation. I highly recommend the Monocle and never disappointed.
Wow, just wow. The history, the service, the food. Unique to DC only.
The Monocle is where you go if you want to impress your out of town guests, and/or if you want a very good filet mignon! When Congress is in session, there may be fundraisers upstairs or Members of Congress having lunch or dinner. You never know who you might see! The walls are covered with photos of current and former Members... very interesting WDC iconic restaurant! This evening was our last at the Monocle, as we are moving out of town. We'll miss John and Nick and their wonderful staff a LOT!
Good food, served promptly, by a kind waiter. A good spot for a nice meal.
Outstanding food, enjoyed every course,,,,, great location,,,,, historic building / lovely
A very consistent, excellent restaurant. Highly recommended. While those with me speak highly of the crab cakes, I felt I have had better. Absolutely tremendous liver and onions, if you like this dish. Excellent host and table service.
Always a great experience! And the bread is to die for!!
Wonderful place for a business lunch
Server were very good.
Excellent food and service, very professional, friendly, and accommodating staff. Will definitely return and highly recommend!
Servers were very professional
Excellent lunch, not overpriced for DC. Noisy and busy when we arrived but cleared out by 1345 when we could hear each other talk at last! Salads tasty and service excellent.
I was so impressed with the food, and with how accommodating wait staff was. New favorite restaurant in DC.
Really good food, above average service, all in a nice atmosphere.
Good place to meet close to train station. Good food and wonderful service
One of my favorite restaurants in DC and a Capitol Hill Classic
