The Monocle is the closest restaurant to the Capitol building, United States Senate and Union Station. Established in 1960, The Monocle is not only known as a Washington institution, but also for its fine American cuisine-served by a professional and friendly team of servers. You can always count on being served great crab-cakes, grilled fresh fish, prime steaks and chops, while enjoying the powerful political scenery. The private Federal Room is a Washington classic for private parties. The Wine Room is a cozy room for your intimate private birthday dinner of six to ten. Cheers!

    Nick was so kind when I was lost and running late for my reservation. He took care of me and my son. Everything was perfect. Food was great and Nick shared some history and visited which was appreciated. He sat us in the Speakers Booth which was also cool.

    We enjoyed the salmon with leeks and special of the day Halibut. Both were delicious and accompanied by fresh vegetables. Very fair prices. Our waiter was charming and enhanced our dining experience.

    Wonderful experience from the moment we stepped. We were greeted by John at the door and seated right away (had a reservation). The waiter was attentive and prompt. John visited our table and spoke about the pictured guests and made conversation with my 15 year old son. Highly recommend and will be part of our itinerary for future D.C. visits. Oh, and food: 5 stars!
