Contemporary American
Modern Diner. Global Fare. Delicious Fun. This is The Mockingbird. Led by talented culinary duo executive chef Brian Riggenbach and front-of-house extraordinaire Mikey Corona, The Mockingbird offers a menu of comfort classics with a global twist and an ambiance of art deco diner whimsy. Walls are covered in beautiful custom-made wallpaper, painted tin tiles on the ceiling, windows open to two patios as weather allows and a larger-than-life mirrored bird sculpture overlooking the dining room. And then there’s the food and drink! Munch on a Mockingburger or Mac N Cheese (aka Feeling Grate!) while sipping an Old-Fashioned-ish or a Punchin’ Bag (ask about it – they are famous!). We also love hosting group events! We have a private dining room, an upstairs dining room and an enclosed patio, all perfect for bridal showers and bachelorette parties plus business lunches and corporate dinners. Y’all come see us!

Horrible. We waited over 30 minutes for a server without acknowledgement. After inquiring twice about at least a drink order we decided to leave. When we informed the host, all we were told was “oh..sorry”. I’ve been to Mockingbird before. The lack of teamwork amongst servers is unacceptable for the type of restaurant. There is a clear “not my table, not my problem” mentality.

My spouse and I were excited to try this restaurant. We made a 4pm reservation for a Saturday a week prior and arrived at the designated time to the doors still locked. After entering, we were seated promptly at the back of the restaurant. At the time, we were the only guests in the restaurant that we could see. However, it took a very long time for a server to even take our order. I asked for ice; never got it so I asked again because we were served luke warm water that had been sitting on the table. It’s 98 degrees in Nashville, for Pete’s sake can we just get an ice water! As we waited for our food, we noticed many of the employees standing outside the kitchen area door smoking/conversing. Waitress had to check on our appetizers 2x and we still believe we were the only guests. Pimento cheese balls were ok, but the platter they were served on appeared to be dirty and glued together. Tater tots were covered in what tasted like canned chili and were cold. Entrees finally came after a long wait. Burger was ok. Chicken pot pie had maybe 2 small bite-size pieces of chicken in it. Just overall very disappointing experience. If you are looking for something comparable to a Waffle House, be my guest. We would never recommend!

Hello Rory Payne, we apologize that this was your experience with us. It sounds like we were not your cup of tea in ANY shape or form. However, we can guarantee you (and anyone else reading your review) we do not use canned chili. Thank you for giving us a shot, we wish you and yours the best.

We had the totchoes as an appetizer and they were fantastic. Entrees were great and the old fashion-ish was great. My wife left her sunglasses in the booth and the staff was nice enough to call us after we left to ask if we had left them. We will definitely be dining here again.

The Mockingbird is fantastic and personally, I think it has some of the best deserts in town. One note on reservations. There is only one 'high top' table and it is not situated in the best location. You are far better off sitting & eating at the bar vs. taking that table. The bar service is great and there is almost always a few seats available. So, if there are no reservations available at a time you want, take a chance and swing by to see if the bar is open.

Love this place. My only problem on this day was that 12th ave was closed and I had to go around and back a different way to get to the site. Not their fault, but definitely cramped my style a bit. Still, good food and great service.

The location is a distance outside of the Gulch where most envision—not much else around it except construction and Maneet Chauhan’s masala restaurant. Despite that it was worth the adventure. The inside is modern and beautiful and the food was very good.

We were so disappointed! I've seen Maneet Chauhan on many tv shows and expected more from one of her restaurants. Our entrees arrived before our appetizer and neither entree was very good. The duck in our dish wasn't hot and the skin was flabby, not rendered and crispy. The pasta dish was boring. When the appetizer did arrive--midway into our entrees--it was hot and tasty (the corndog dish). We declined dessert because our meal was so disappointing. Two highlights--our server was lovely and our cocktails were very good. Wouldn't recommend.

Loved the theme of the restaurant. My husband was very pleased with his dinner. I had the fish special. It was ok. The succotash was cold and not very appetizing and about 1/2 way through there was a flea that came out of my food. Unable to eat after that. Waitress was very good. Enjoyed the menu very clever. Desert was excellent.

Another glorious meal. Pork belly app is amazing. Ceviche is also glorious. My only (minor) complaint is the lack of a strong wine list. With food this good, there should be a wine list to support it.

My husband and I always prefer to visit restaurants in downtown Nashville on a Sunday night...quieter dining, fewer crowds, and easier parking. Mockingbird, however, is a restaurant I would go back to any night of the week. The variety of options and their preparation had more than enough choices for everyone in our party. Highly recommend ordering three small plates to share then sharing an entree...that way you can experience a range of flavors and not be so limited in your choices! LOVED the ceviche and the lamb chili over tater tots. The trout (fish of the day), pasta and braised beef ribs were all winners! Our out-of-town guests raved about it. Service was very good. We were catching up with friends, and the wait staff was attentive but not pushy. We will be back!

Absolutely love the whole vibe of this restaurant and the cute little plates are the perfect detail! The food is always awesome and the drinks a fun! I’m so glad our waitress suggested ordering two plates a sharing because the portions are so big! Two of us split the ‘Merica and the tater tots and had food to spare! Sooo delicious!

Returned to MB to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. Overall, enjoyed the experience again, though I would say it was not as seamless as our previous visit. Had to ask a second time for our drinks after waiting. Highly recommend Flock Yeah - so flavorful and well prepared. Fresh takes on comfort food are such a fun twist - can see the creativity in the kitchen. Burger not prepared as requested, but server did offer to remake and owner comped a dessert to apologize. Love this place and think it was just a one night hiccup - will definitely be back.

Had an incredible experience eating here. From cocktails and appetizers to dessert, all the food is packed with unexpected flavor combinations that spice up old favorite dishes. The serving staff are all so knowledgeable and friendly, and show a true love for the diner, so you know it's good. We expected the bill to be a lot more for this quality of place, so it was a pleasant surprise! $100 for a three-course meal with cocktails for two
