The waitress was great and attentive. I got “the mix” cocktail and it was not good. When I asked for something else, the manger told the waitress that I would have to pay for the mix cocktail and whatever I substituted it with. I’ve never heard of a restaurant or bar doing that, especially when I only took one sip of the drink so it wasn’t like I was trying to get free drinks. Nonetheless, the catfish nuggets were really good and the waitress, who was clearly embarrassed by her managers response, brought me some juice to try to salvage my drink. Overall, it was a decent spot but won’t be returning.

It was an ok experience. I have been before once for an event but this the the first time I came for brunch. My only complaint was the table they tried to give us. The DJ table was literally on top of the table. So close that DJ wires would be touching my shoulder. I don’t want DJ equipment touching my plate. Why not have the DJ set up where that mini couch and those separators are. That space was empty. Just my two cents! They switched our table because we were about to leave. Other than that the food and service was good.

I visited The Mix for Father’s Day with my father and child and had a very unpleasant experience. I ordered food for each of us, but only my father’s meal was served. My child and I patiently waited over an hour and a half for our food— a breakfast sandwich and a side of eggs— just for it never to be delivered. Once I realized my father had nearly finished his meal and we still hadn’t received ours, I informed our waiter that the additional items ordered were no longer needed. At that point, she informed me that a manager would be over shortly to speak with me. She, as well as the hostess, was very pleasant and apologetic, but the manager was not. When he approached our table, I expressed to him immediately that I was irritated by the situation. To make matters worse, some of the prices reflected on the check were higher than the listed price of the item on the menu. At no point was anyone at the table being rude or disrespectful, yet the manager decided to take a moment of irritability as a personal attack and rather than listening to provide a solution to the problem at hand, he chose to dwell on the fact that a curse word was used in conversation— in no way, shape, or form directed towards him. He seemed to be expecting an argument rather than conflict resolution. He even as much as informed me that our meals were finally ready, but because I informed the waitress that I no longer wanted the items, he did not have them delivered to our table. The courteous resolution to the problem would have been to deliver the food since it was finally prepared and offer some form of discount, even if not 100%, for the inconvenience. Rather, he chose to leave a child hungry and walked away from the conversation. I had to call him back to the table just to get a clear answer to how he planned to handle the issue. I frequent The Mix often and always speak very highly of the establishment, but the way in which the manager handled this situation makes me never want to go back!

Too loud, AC wasn’t working on a 90° day. Service was slow.

This was my first time there. I’m a Dorchester local born and raised. The wait staff was very friendly but kept forgetting utensils, napkins, straws and completely forgot my friends order. There was a lot of people in the restaurant but it wasn’t full either. We wanted more rounds of drinks but infrequent visits to the table in our almost two hour dining experience made that more frustrating than it needed to be. The DJ was a 10/10 in the vibes department. The music though we were seated next to the DJ was really loud. I had the oxtail and grits which was a 10/10 imo I loved it. The dress could was interesting I was told I couldn’t where a sleeveless shirt/vest, I had blazer with me that matched my slacks so I was able to go in, while at the same time I saw people in full sweat suits. I was a little confused. I’d definitely go back for vibes alone or for like a nightcap.

Took a while to view the menu since there were no paper menus and we could only see the menu on our phone. Getting service inside is tough. Only one bar for a signal.

The food is seasoned!!!! Very good! The dj had a nice vibe-DJ Nyce. I was singing and eating. It wasn't crowded or loud. Everyone seemed to be in a chill mood. I had a nice time!

While I usually enjoy my meal at The Mix, last night tasted off. The Oxtails were extremely salty and, seemed to lack Worcestershire Sauce. My Grilled Chicken was burnt, I had to eat around it. We ordered to Margarita’s with sugar on the rim, only to receive our drinks in plastic cups; like, seriously? The chicken sliders, I ordered to go, came out in soggy bread. It’s like they just slapped ketchup, mayo snd and a pickle; my sliders also didn’t have any pikliz, as they used too. In addition, the includes gratuity, is cool, if the service matches; also, asking for an additional tip after securing payment, seems greedy. Moreover, I don’t mind paying for quality or, experience; however, plastic forks, one napkin per patron, plastic cups and, included gratuity don’t align for the value.
