Great place for dinner in the heart of Old Scottsdale. Never a bad meal and the Margaritas are the best.
Wonderful Mexican restaurant that’s decorated really cool. Fish tacos were great. The table size guacamole was the best I ever had. Worth the trip.
Lamb tacos were amazing! My wife and I shared them and it was more than enough.
The Mission is ok to take out of towners to.
Not very comfortable, overpriced, stuffed like sardines.
Once or twice a year is enough.
They could do a much better job accommodation wise.
would not recommend. Much more fun & reasonable restaurants.
The pork shoulder tacos for two are fantastic!! Be warned though, the tortillas are very small so if you are looking for big tacos this is not the thing to order. Margaritas were great as well. Table side guacamole was delicious but the woman making it was very crabby and sour. Overall would go back
We celebrated my husband's birthday here. The whole experience was fabulous! We both agreed that it was one of the best meals we have ever had and the service was top notch. We will definitely be back!
Lovely decor, amazing food, and great server. Will be coming back here again next year.
Next time in the Scottsdale area, we'll make sure we go here again. We came for the guacamole and margaritas. We'll be coming back for the pork, duck and everything else. Maybe next time we'll save room for dessert. Everything was simply outstanding. We sat outside on the patio, which was lovely. Inside looked quaint and romantic. Our server was super friendly and energetic. The table side guacamole is a must. We shared a salad, which they split on 2 plates. I had mole duck confit tacos which were amazing! There are 3 per order and look small at first but they are full of flavor and tons of meat. The street corn was recommended as a side, which they took off the cob for me. It was sweet and spicy at the same time. My wife had the scallops, which were very creative and delicious. Our server suggested getting extra bread to soak up the sauce.
Bottom line, if you even thinking about coming here, do it! You will not be disappointed. Our only disappointment was not finding this place our first night. Had we done so, we wouldn't have come back the next night, it was that good.
The food was truly magnificent. Service was very good and it was a pleasure to meet the owner who walked around the restaurant making everything was just so.
Be aware that the inside seating (we were in the middle back) is very dark. Had to use our phones to see the menu. Also, we were a little annoyed when we asked if we could sit in the front patio and they told us a large party had the whole thing reserved. As we left after our meal, there were a few scattered tables seated and a large group table that was still empty. Cleary they could have seared us there.
Great food and ambiance!
Would highly recommend you add this to your dinning experience. The selection was very flavorful. The lamb tacos for two and the pork belly appetizers. Outstanding! The only thing I had a problem was the low lighting in the restaurant. Yes I’m a little wiser in my age and had to use my cell phone to read the menu. But don’t let that stop you for taking on the Delicious flavors. Will return to try other selections on their menu.
We had heard great reviews about this restaurant and were excited to try it. It took us 3 days to get in and got a later time slot (830pm). Overall, it was very disappointing. It was very dark (almost couldn’t see our food dark) very noisy and the food was sub par. I had chicken tacos and my colleague had steak tacos. The dishes can with three mini tortillas. The chicken was fatty and neither dish was very good. The churros were good. The server, while very friendly, seemed to want to rush us out to prepare for the next group of guests. Overrated!
I love this place and always have a great experience here. The service here is fantastic.
Went for a birthday dinner and it was wonderful. They were very accommodating for a quieter table in the corner. The duck confit is spectacular. I hope you’ll consider adding some Mexican wines to the wine list....the value and quality of their wines are excellent and would compliment the inventive menu. Special thanks to Angel who went above and beyond to craft a more traditional Arnold Palmer.
Amazing service by Amanda. Delicious food. Such a wonderful night
Amazing food- great place. Most visit while in Phoenix area.
The food was excellent. The only problem was with the hostess staff. They wanted to sit us in the worst seat even though they were not busy. They only allowed us to have one menu for two people.
I am from the Midwest and have never experienced Southwestern foods with such a variety of flavors. My husband and I kept ordering more just so we could taste. When we explained to our waiter that we had little knowledge of the menu, he guided us in our selections. Best meal we had on this trip
Excellent. Not to be missed.
It was a little loud, as we were seated just a few inches from the table next to us. Other than that, everything was wonderful. The food, the drinks, the service, the prices.... Amazing!
Great food fabulous service! We make this a destination every time we vacation in AZ
Everything was outstanding ! We enjoyed the food immensely ! The guacamole was fresh and delicious, the bone in steak was tasty and seasoned perfectly . We especially enjoyed the Clase Azul tequila flight! Mmmmm! We’ll be back !!
Overall very good thank you
This is a fabulous place... we choose to sit outside and loved it. Server was very knowledgeable and food was out of this world
This was one of, if not, the best meals I have have had in Scottsdale. It was unique & delicious. Service and ambiance were both amazing
We have enjoyed lunch at the Mission so took guests there for a dinner. Music was loud. Lighting so dark you needed flashlight to see the food. Food excellent, service very good
Would never go back for dinner, only lunch and eat outside
I couldn’t be more impressed by my overall experience at The Mission. Every aspect was superb, but let me start with the food.
The taste, quality, presentation, and choices were perfect. The salsa should not be missed. Best salsa I’ve ever had, hands down - and I’m a bit of a snob in that department. They also make the guacamole right at your table with fresh avocados and other ingredients if your choice. It was mouth-wateringly delicious.
The tacos aren’t to be missed. They are small, but filling... and the amount of flavors packed into these things is a small miracle. The mahi mahi tacos are excellent, but don’t skip the others. You can’t mix and match, so have everyone in your party order different flavors and mix them up when they come to your table. You won’t want to miss any of these pieces of perfection.
The service was world class. Great attitudes, smiles, and the right amount of attention to your table. Waters and drinks were always filled. Let the server be a part of your experience. You’ll be better off for it!
I’m visiting the area, but will be back often. I will be sure to visit The Mission on every trip to Scottsdale!
The food and service were great, but it really is very, very dark lighting. Everyone needed to use flashlights to read the menu and even look at their food before eating! The noise level including music was very loud. Otherwise, an enjoyable evening. I would return.
Initially excited to dine here, unfortunately the experience left my colleague and I non-plussed. The initial greeting and seating were prompt. All staff were pleasant but our server seemed uncomfortable despite knowing the contents of some menu items. At one point she removed a plate from the table that had been stacked and so left a smear of sauces on the table - there was no reason to clear the plate. The tostadas and other plates were quite good but the churros were a bit heavy to finish out the meal- my fault for choosing; not the chef or kitchen to be held accountable for that. The most off-putting part of this experience was being asked to leave our table after we had paid and were having a conversation for about 15 minutes. Apparently our two-top was seated in the midst of seating they wished for an incoming large party. Although the server was apologetic, it did not make up for being asked to move to the bar. I’ve never been to a restaurant recommended by Open Table where this happened. Typically a small party is seated in a space where such a move isn’t required. I believe the external seating would’ve been a better recommendation at arrival, as most parties in that space were small. Perhaps this experience just sits in stark contrast to the excellent service received at another establishment the night before - but I also worked in fine dining and city nightlife management for years and think that also colored my experience. A manager should have asked us to move and offered a complimentary beverage at the bar instead of a nervous server who had trouble communicating clearly. Staff training may be all that is needed to improve the experience for future customers. I wish the owners and staff well in that regard.
phenomenal service, atmosphere and food. always the best.
Fabulous cocktails, exquisite pork belly tacos, swoon worthy blood orange margaritas and a green chili duck dish that was sublime. 2nd time I've been there and I would go back again tomorrow!!
The food or always excellent and the staff is awesome!
Excellent service and food. The Duck Confit was great and plentiful.
This place is an Old Town gem. I've been both for brunch (which is also amazing) and dinner. They have a cool menu that makes it hard to choose! I took some friends who came in from Texas. They took shots of tequila after licking their really cool Himalayan rock salt wall! It was a fantastic evening. Thank you!
Great has could expect
Great place, would definitely visit again. They were very accommodating for my toddler and patient.
Visiting Scottsdale for holiday. From East Coast and West Coast. Favorite cuisine is Mexican .. loved this place! Inventive dishes, friendly staff and cozy AZ atmosphere .. great for family or a date. Will definitely return next time!
The food and drinks were amazing!
Amazing food and fabulous service! Loved every minute of it!
Best meal in Scottsdale
