North Scottsdale’s heart beats to a Latin drum at The Mission at Kierland Commons where renowned Chef Matt Carter (Zinc Bistro and Fat Ox) brings a modern twist to Latin cuisine blending influences from Spain, Mexico, Central America, and South America.

Sip a signature margarita with unique flavors such as cucumber jalepeno or aguacate (yes, we said avocado) as you watch your Tableside Guacamole made to your taste from more than a dozen fresh ingredients.

Home made tortillas, sauces, and salsas are made fresh daily to accompany an assortment of meats and seafood prepared on a Plancha or a grill using pecan and mesquite wood that instills a rich flavor. Plus save room for dessert including our pumpkin bread pudding or espresso churros.

                                                                                                          Had friends visiting from so selected The Mission in Kierland as a close-by and fun atmosphere to take them to dinner. I was a little concerned parking might be an issue as it sometimes is in that location, but we had no issue and made our 6:30 reservation with time to spare. The music was on the energetic side so had to keep conversation a bit on the louder side in order to be heard well although we seemed to accomodate our voices - and hearing -- well as the evening went on. Our excellent server, Curtis, was helpful in providing information about menu selections, which we've truthfully found to be somewhat limited. However, we were satisfied with our choices of salmon and tacos and all enjoyed the dessert of churros.

I especially like the halibut. Everything has a unique twist at the mission Great margaritas too Don’t forget the bread pudding or churros and milkshake

                                                                                                          While the tableside Guacamole is always our favorite, some of the dishes we ordered seemed to be tasty yet skimpy, to be honest. The chicken dish I especially ordered was good yet when I asked if it was spicey, I was told it wasn't at all. Unfortunately, to my palate, it was a bit spicey for me. I ended up taking it in a box to bring home. Otherwise, the ambience and environment was enjoyable. Thank you.

                                                                                                          We were a party of 5 with one of the guests an elderly woman. We were seated upstairs outside. When we realized it was too cold for her and frankly us I went down to the 5 hostesses to ask if we could be moved indoors. At 6 pm there were 1/2 the tables still available. They came back to me with a reply that they were fully booked and it was not possible. I believed them as it was Cinco de Mayo and the menu is Mexican centric. Midway through our meal I looked over the railing to see the restaurant was only now 1/4 full! They were not booked at all. They just decided to deny us that as perhaps it was not convenient for them. The waiter also was overwhelmed and kept having to check with the chef about different questions regarding the menu. I would never recommend this place based on the staff alone. The food was quiet however.

                                                                                                          Great service and solid food for an anniversary dinner. Get the guac - it’s really good. Nice touch to provide a dessert on the house. We will be back next time we are in Scottsdale.

From the decor to the desserts, it makes for a great dining experience!! Table-side guacamole is a must. And ask for Mathew - top notch server in the Valley.
