Fantastic service and beautiful presentation!
Food and cocktails were delicious, as usual. Hostess tried to seat 2 of us between larger family parties & some foresight for a table in an area of smaller parties would have set a better tone to start the nigh, as the place had plenty of available tables. Also, the waiter did not seem to be organized & seem to have been apologetic each time he came the table. Next time, we’ll just stay in the bar area.
Lovely outside dining!
The food and the service were A+
Great salads and tacos. Service was exceptional
Coffee was WAY overpriced
Excellent food and service. Great table.
Birthday for friend
Excellent food, service and ambiance!
Beautiful rustic restaurant, great service and food.
We sat at the bar for some drinks and appitizers. It was our 1st time here, but we are moving to Scottsdale, and we wanted to check out the area. Matt made a killer margarita and some great suggestions for appetizers. We had a fun time, enjoyed the food - duck tacos and fish tacos; both very good and not too large of a serving. We will be back. Matt and his colleague made our visit really fun.
Went for restaurant week
Creative menu but the food arrived cold and food service was exceptionally slow
Restaurant was nearly empty yet dinner took 2and a half hours
What a pleasant surprise. I expected good Latin fare as I had in Old Town for lunch years ago. What I got was two of f the best seafood dishes I have had anywhere. Miso glazed halibut for my date and seared scallops for me. Will be going back soon.
Service was terrible. Portions are beyond small but very delicious in taste. Street corns flavor was delicious but the portion was the size for a toddler at best. Table side guacamole was again delicious, but portions are ridiculously small.
We ate during Arizona Dining Week. Everything we had was exceptional. Would go back on another trip to scottsdale.
Best and most creative food and service our entire trip to Scottsdale only regret is we went on our last night or we would’ve been back many times during our visit. Food was outstanding but the service from Sarah and Catherine was the best of the whole week, and would be hard to beat. They had extreme knowledge of the menu wine list and cocktails. Wonderful personalities and we’re on top of everything. They glided through the room like ballerinas on a mission. No pun intended. I will go back just for them even if the food wasn’t great.
Food was bland. Left most of and left. Very disappointing since we love the mission in old town
There at 6 pm for restaurant week. Food very good. Service very good, but took a long time for food to come out. Server apologized and said they had a large party upstairs and full because of restaurant week. While waiting for food, all of a sudden, the music got very loud, to where conversation was too difficult. We asked if they could turn down the music volume some and was told the owner likes it that way which was our only disappointment with the restaurant that the owner really didn't care about the comfort of his/her guests.
Our party of 4 was greeted with "we, hope it is alright that you only have until 7:30pm to complete your meal" meaning that we should time ourselves with relenting the table. Our reservation was for 6pm and we were on time.
Never, have I had a host state such a time constraint for eating.
I responded "no" it is not alright for our group to feel the pressure to finish dining in 1 1/2 hrs, seat us somewhere, that, that is not a problem " As, the night went on it was clear that there were tables never occupied, so "what was the problem?"
Our table was in a position that caused the guacamole presentation table to hit my chair 3 times as it went table to table.
On the positive side - our server, Collin, was very attentive.
Let me start out by saying the Food was delicious! I took my wife out for her birthday this past weekend and decided to try out the AZ Restaurant week menu , which was also our first time in the restaurant. Everything was amazing other than our waiter. He was horrible. It took us 4 times to try and get a restaurant week menu until we just decided to look for it on our phones. Service took forever for our server to get back to us. They also left our used plates on our table even after our meals were brought to us and hardly had any space on the table for them. So that made an amazing place for ambiance and delicous food seem like a bad experience.
Nice evening with friends
We enjoyed our "Restaurant Week Dinners" with a couple of suggestions for future --
We tried the Blue Corn Quesadilla and the Pollo Prensudo for appetizer -- both were excellent!
I had the Alaskan Halibut. The fish was good but had a spicy crust that became overwhelming along with the sauce in the dish which ruined the green beans. I had to stop eating -- too spicy.
My husband had the Prime Rib -- enjoyed it very much.
We had the Pumpkin Bread Pudding - very tasty anad we ate it all. We also ordered the Guatemalan Chocolate Pastilla. The Chocolate was fabulous (I'm a chocolate lover), but the "vanilla" ice cream was sooooo spicy, it hurt my throat. Not the vanilla flavor I'm familiar with.
Our server was wonderful, the pace of the meal was good (not so fast you have to rush). We worked around the foods served knowing that some of the dishes were new and the restaurant is trying new things.
My only other thought -- when we arrived our hostess told us that our table was reserved an hour and a half later and they needed it then. I couldn't stop looking at my watch throughout the meal -- afraid we were taking too long. I have never had anyone tell us that when we arrived at a restaurant... It made our time a little uncomfortable.
wonderful restaurant menu. Great cocktails and service.
Though we showed up early (5:30) the food coming out was VERY slow. Our waiter (Brian) was very nice but never acknowledge that the food took a long time, nor apologized for it. The food, once delivered, as good.
Very attractive restaurant with good food and service, but very noisy.
The manager seated our family and then generously allowed us to move outside due to the extraordinarily loud music. After a significantly long wait, our server finally greeted us and we requested that we place our order since we had been waiting for such a long time. He discouraged us, saying that it was very busy and would take an extra long time to get food out. He then said I probably couldn’t eat anything because I am gluten free. He again told us that it would be a very long wait. In the middle of placing our order he said,”I’m going to go help another table”. 20 minutes later the first of 4 dishes arrived. The next 2 dishes came out 15 minutes later with cheese covering the tacos (we requested no cheese on any dishes). The server argued, saying we didn’thim no cheese. After 2 frustrating conversations with
Todd was wonderful and knowledgeable. Food was fantastic, margaritas were out of this world.
Th food was amazing and the cocktails taste great while having a kick! The service is exceptional. Our go to! Our server Krista is the best!
We really enjoy The Mission's Sunday Brunch! Every dish we try is amazing! We will be back again soon.
Server rushed out all items, and was not concerned enough to ask; do you want your appetizer, and your main course to come out at the same time. Service is inattentive, and not concerned with individual experiences. I love the Mission in Old Town Scottsdale, this location is not the same. I’ve been here two times in the last two weeks, and regretted both. I do not want to pay a high cost of dining to be rushed in and out of the dining venue, or receive subpar service from a waiter that acts like your the late night table at an Applebee’s, which he just wants to get out of the way and go home. Would not go to this location again unless it is the only option. No idea how disparities in management can vary so greatly, you might as well give this location a different name than the old town location, you could call it “trendy fake mission, that tries to pretend it’s a nightclub”, and maybe that’s just it, they want to serve drinks to techno music, just not good meals.
Service was slow. I think we had a new waiter. But they accommodated our large party change of time last minute. So that is good.
Great food, love eating here. However, it’s too dark and the music was so loud at one point we were yelling at each other and then a really loud song came on. Our waiter was on it and went to ask them to turn it down.
The Mission continues to be one of our favorite restaurants. It's hard to try something new when the previous selections have all been amazing! The intense flavors are a delight in every bite!
It was an overall disappointment. Table side guacamole was extremely bland. Server was extremely nice but lacked suggestions on sides. Skinny margaritas were too sweet. Our water glasses at empty majority of the meal. We brought out of town guests and was a big let down to see them after years over this meal.
It’s not a pleasant dining experience when you have to yell so your date can hear you. Way too loud (and why?). Got the halibut, a nice fish but overpowered by the thick gelatinous over seasoned sauce. Waitress was fantastic, very pleasant.
Absolutely delicious, unique and memorable food and cocktails but service was lacking. Would return to try again but have to rate high on food and low on service.
Always love dining at The Mission in Kierland - except for the noise! Food is great (table side guac is the best in town), and the service is attentive but not pushy. But the NOISE - it's very difficult to hear people talking. Downstairs is a real boom-boom room.
Hope that gets fixed one of these days....
Our waitress was very helpful & courteous in explaining the menu. Great service & food.
Awesome food and good energy
Food and service was fantastic!!!
Fabulous drinks with The Missionary house cocktail & the special Halibut was on point!
