Our server Taylor was spectacular. Please pass that along.
Loved it. Would recommend the duck.
Service was excellent and so was the food!
The food is amazing!
We won’t go there for dinner as it is way too loud.
The food and drink were very good. The waiter was very busy, so we felt we got neglected. Our order was not taken timely at all once he came right away and we weren’t ready. It was very hard to then get him back when we were ready. We should have had plenty of time to get to our next event, but we didn’t get to spend as much time at the botanical gardens as we would have liked to. Reservations were at 7:40. We had to rush to get out of there at 9:45. A bit ridiculous.
Food and service was excellent at the bar.
My only critic would be don’t ask me if I plan to finish dining in an hour and a half. Very insulting. I felt like your restaurant were waiting for more important people to arrive. And although we were done dining in the hour and a half; we did notice a bus load of people arriving. So, I was right, more important or shall I say a bigger check arrived. All in All, we had a great time but in the future please don’t ask your guests how long they will be staying. Thank You.
One of the best meal I had ever had. My family concurs. The huge cross behind the main bar somewhat puzzling.
Excelent food, authentic and tasty. Restaurant was a bit noisy so better for celebrations not for dates. Good service, but could be a bit better.
Appetizers were excellent, mains... meh
Love their food - still a bit dark.
Great service for our lunch on the patio, and very dog-friendly. Food was outstanding - best table side guacamole in town. Our server was great - attentive and never made us feel rushed.
We had a party of 3. We shared what we ordered and everything was delicious! We will be back!
The table side guacemole is a must order! Our server (wish I could remember his name - Justin? ) provided excellent service!
We've eaten at the Mission several times - the food is excellent and the service is normally very good. Tonight we took several out-of-town friends to dinner here, and the service was awful. Our waiter forgot to key in one of the orders. We asked about the status several times. Half-way through our meal, we had to go to the manager - even he didn't apologize, only made excuses. Our friend finally received his meal just as the rest of us were finishing. They did take the charge off the bill, but never apologized. Sad.
Our first visit was wonderful. Gil the GM was so friendly and informative on the restaurant. The food was excellent French pressed coffee was the best. We will definitely make this one of our regular stops for dinning.
Ok noisy food to greasy for my taste.
We had been to the Old Town location and found it to be too loud for comfort. This was better, also going later (7:45 pm) seemed to work. The place really emptied out after 8 pm.
Outstanding service to go along with a splendid meal. Margaritas are the best in AZ!
Restaurant is very nice and food very good. This was my second visit to The Mission at Kierland. My only complaint was that they charged me $7.50 for a teacup size of coffee. I had the brussel sprout tacos for dinner and the pumpkin bread pudding for desert and they were very good.
Our bartender/server for dinner on New Years Eve was fantastic. He was energetic, knowledgeable and fun. Highly recommend this place.
We had 4:30 dinner reservations and had a HORRIBLE experience. First, they notified us we couldn't even order off dinner menu and it wasn't even a lunch menu, it was a Bar menu. 2nd. They put 5 at a table of 10 and the entire restaurant was empty - we asked to get moved and got a hard time. hostess told us they 'could' move us but that we couldn't move any chairs and had to use one from outside (AND IT WAS RAINING) - so we left at is. Horrible customer services.
The table side guac is a must. Very good meal.
Food was excellent. They sent us two free desserts 😘
Great food and service
Our new favorite place!
Meh - not worth the price
We were seated at a table upstairs in the corner by the exit and the guacamole cart. We asked for a different vacant table nearby and our server argued that the table was reserved for the evening. As it turned out, that table and four other empty tables around us had dirty dishes on them for the first 45 minutes of our experience despite our repeated requests that they please be cleaned. The server informed us the cleaning crew were too busy to clean the tables because they were too busy making the table-side guacamole. I found it disgusting that the cleaning crew was preparing food. The table we requested was never seated with other patrons. We sat down at 8pm and didn’t get any food until 9:15. A fine dining establishment, so not a big deal but notable. The guacamole cart struck my chair every time it passed. I ordered a 38$ filet medium well (I know, the horror!) and the server said it would still be pink and so I upped it to well done and it came out practically still mooing. I asked that It be cooked some more and 20 minutes later it came back still rare. The server asked and I said please just take it back and off the bill as my family were well finished with dinner. She argued with me and said they could flash fry it or nuke it. Really? Just what I want is a microwaved, 38$ filet mignon. When she figured out through another server that we were regulars, she radically changed her attitude when it came time for the tip. The manager did come out and inquire about the meat temp, but the evening was ruined at this point.
Before the wife and I had kids, the Mission in Old Town Scottsdale was one of our favorite restaurants. We recently visited the Kierland location to rekindle our relationship with the food we once loved. Regrettably, we never got past drinks at the bar. After on hostess told us our table was ready, another one gave it away as we were closing out our bar tab. They offered us an alternate table in the bowels of the restaurant overlooking a parking lot. We politely declined. After an uncomfortable back-and-forth with a manager who denied what the hostess expressly admitted (they gave away the table), they offered us another option directly across from the front door. Had the manager been even remotely pleasant, we’d have just taken our seats and ordered. But she insisted on continuing the argument (“we didn’t give away the table, in fact we seated your early”). In decades of dining out, I’ve never seen anyone try so hard to pick a fight with a customer. It felt so much like a Bravo reality show, I kept looking around for cameras. Finally, after another minute or two of scolding from the obviously-disgruntled worked, my wife looked at me, I nodded in understanding, and we walked out. I’d like to say someone tried to stop us or apologize, but if I said that, I’d be lying. We won’t go back. There are too many other choices in that area, several of which are within easy walking distance of the Mission. We ended up eating at Dominick’s. The service was night and day better.
A birthday celebration
This was very disappointing given my previous experience with the original location in old town. The server was good and communicated the 30 minutes it took to get our appetizer and the fact that the entree we wanted was sold out, and then our entrees took so long we had to take it to go. They did comp our drinks, but our Christmas dinner was essentially ruined. Also, large bones were in the salmon when we actually ate it and about other entree was a severely over-seasoned duck taco. I will not go here again. The building is beautiful and the music is good. Just go to the bar...
My husband and I decided to eat out this Christmas since we would be home alone. Our dining experience started with our hostess who was very welcoming. She took us to our seats and made sure our seating arrangement was to our liking. The restaurant was very busy that night. Luckily we sat upstairs outside which was much quieter than inside. Our server Ryan was on top of it. He never missed a beat and we felt very at home for having Christmas dinner away from home.
The food was flavorful and exceeded our expectations. We had the table side guacamole which is an absolute must. We ended our dinner with the pumpkin bread pudding. So glad this was Ryan’s recommendation. It topped off our meal.
The restaurant was surprisingly very busy for Christmas evening but we could not tell given the quality of food and exceptional service.
Thank you Mission Restaurant and staff for ending our Christmas Evening on high note.
Excellent service. Good food.
We went for a traditional Christmas Eve dinner and it didn’t disappoint! Food was amazing as always and the pineapple martini is spot on!
Had high expectations but the price you pay for the amount of food you actually get left me disappointed. Ambiance is fine but food was pretty plain.
Polly was a great server and made my bday special New menu items since my last visit... everything was delicious
Great food, some of the best gourmet tacos ever! Once again, service was horrendously slow. Most of lunch they had 1 server on, even as there more, we waited 25 minutes after clearing plates to get a bill. If you have 2 hours for a leisurely meal, it is great.
Excellent! Brought 3 girlfriends and we all 4 loved every bite and excellent service and knowledge of The Mission's food.
