One of my favorite places to go for special occasions! Exquisite food, great ambiance and service - an elevated dining experience but also cool and comfortable.

Overpriced, uncomfortable and very slow - hard to say much more
Go elsewhere - there are a lot of better options for a nice meal in NYC

One of my favorite restaurants, and my companion ,who was here for first time, also loved it all.
i began with delicious salmon crudo-almost always have something like this here as appetizer and its great-very delicate and tasty. My companion loved the arugula salad -maybe a special. We both loved the trout special-came with good puréed lentils.Shared an excellent molten cake dessert-the wine was also excellent, as was the service.
We came early, as it can get very noisy here after eight oclock...

It is TOO TOO noisy, but otherwise it's wonderful. Go with people you don't want to talk to or people you see and talk to all the time.

The space and decor are lovely, the service easy is and not too fussy. In general the prices are a little high. My berkshire pork chop was excellent. It was however very disappointing that a very ordinary glass of wine was $17.00

Unfortunately, there was a problem with the air conditioning system when we were seated at our table. After mentioning it twice to our server, and witnessing other patrons complain, I asked for the manager who told us that they had to keep the system running in order to fix it. Ten minutes later the air was still very cold, and I threatened to leave. At that point, and after complaining several times, they moved us to another table. The food was okay, but just okay. There was no offer of compensation for freezing us in any form at all.
We won’t be back.

On a dreary, rainy Mother's Day, the Milling Room's industrial design, featuring an arched skylight stretching the length of the spacious dining room and a large arrangement of forsythia shoots, created a bright and inviting space. My family was originally seated along the banquette in the back near the fireplace. Slightly out of the fray, it was a little more intimate than the center of the dining room that seated the bulk of the Mother's Day crowd. As we reviewed our menus, several drops of water fell from the skylight (it was pouring outside). A table opened up in the center of the dining room, and the staff quickly and seamlessly reseated us. While a little noisier, it was not too bothersome. The food was very good. My omelette was one of the best I've ever had -- a nice blend of cheese, herbs and egg, cooked perfectly. The fingerling potatoes lived up to the hype they received in reviews online. They were crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Everyone was happy with their selection. The price was what we expect to pay for a nice dining experience in Manhattan, though not something we can do every weekend. We entered the restaurant a little cranky, damp and tired. We left happy, full and looking forward to our next meal at The Milling Room.

The food is...fine. It's pricey for what it is. The space is lovely. I find it weird that they don't have any kids options for food. I mean, you are on the UWS, have a huge space and even have a bathroom with changing tables!

At this point, no recommendation--not until we try them again. We've been return customers for a long time, bringing friends and family. This visit was shockingly disappointing, with food coming 40 minutes after we ordered. It was cold, and no one ever came by to ask if everything was satisfactory. We were polite and did not make a fuss. When they next came by, with the bill, after everything was finished, they said they were sorry about that--but didn't even so much as offer a dessert or reduce the bill. I can't imagine what has happened to the restaurant for all that to have occurred. We will go one more time to see if it was just a terrible confluence of issues or it's a pattern--and will review again then.

Modestly disappointed this time. Food was not prepared well (salad overdressed, too much pepper, greens were bitter)(fish over cooked, preparation too precious, weird yogurt sauce, inedible bamboo shoot accompaniment). Service great. Room is comfortable and airy.

Ambiance is always wonderful & the great drinks help. Food is as good as it gets on the UWS and the only thing unreasonable price-wise on the menu is the $9 surcharge for 3 small anchovies added to your salad. 🤨 Putting that aside, a dinner at The Milling Room is always a treat.

Loved the open feel and setting of The Milling Room. Food was well prepared and beautifully presented. Service was attentive without being intrusive and we never felt rushed to finish our meal, which made for a lovely and leisurely dining experience. Really enjoyed the tuna tartare special, the cacio and pepe pasta dish and the rhubarb and wildberry cobbler.

We had a nice meal at The Milling Room. Atmosphere is nice, and service is attentive. However, they need to do a better job in offering options to people with allergies; at least when it comes to dairy. The options were very limited if you needed something dairy free. I think there were one or two entree options at most that could be made this way. In today's day and age, I think that is unacceptable. You need to have a few options that are simply grilled. Most restaurants are engaged and accomodating when it comes to this. Otherwise, the food was good, and we had a nice meal.

Poor quality of the food. Steak was terrible, marinated and slimy, completely missed doneness level. Pork chop was burnt to black coal level. Very disappointing food. Among the other meals cannot even remember what was good.

The worst pasta I’ve ever had in Manhattan. That said my colleague had the steak which was pretty good, and the wine list and ambiance was also pretty good. While I won’t be back, if you go you’ll probably enjoy it so long as you stay away from the pasta. Let the ingredients and not their cooking do most of the legwork.
