The Milling Room

Coffee was very strong and the almond milk broke apart. Other than that the food was good.
I’ve read and heard good things about the Milling Room. We decided to try it this weekend for brunch, mostly at my urging.
We could not believe how mediocre the food was. There were 4 of us. One person liked his food (the waffle), the other three of us had the same comment, “bland and boring”. The price was similar to most brunches on the uws, that was not the issue. We went at 1:15 on Sunday, it was pretty empty.
Service was fine, our waitresses was efficient, but not much personality. Our experience felt rushed (we were there for no more than an hour) and truthfully we had no desire to linger.
Overall, none of us of us would go back.
It was a lovely evening- though the service was a bit uneven. Food was delicious, ambiance is lovely- was a tiny bit louder than we thought it would be but we could hear each other talk. I would recommend and I would come back.
Good food, attentive service, all the staff are very pleasant
Overall food was good, not amazing.
The ambiance of the place is stunning, and that was the main reason we went to The Milling Room, it’s hard to find places in NYC with natural sunlight. During our visit we had the brunch menu, my boyfriend had the eggs Benedict with gavlax (smoked salmon) and I had the chicken salad sandwich, the gravlax was a bit fishy and the chicken salad sandwich was ok, the fingerling potatoes were very tasty. So overall the food was ok. Not sure if I’ll be back for brunch, maybe I’ll try the dinner next time.
Good place for brunch and spacious layout. Accommodating for babies/toddlers with high chairs and nice changing area.
The space was really cute and filled with great natural light. The food was good overall but a bit more expensive than other places and it wasn't THAT much better than other places in NYC. The food and drinks were just average but priced a bit high for that. But overall it was a nice experience and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
Food was good and the ambiance is great. Our server left after we received our first course and we were left stranded for half of the meal.
Loved the cocktail bar and the cocktails. Good service even though it was crowded. Dinner was delicious. Menu is unique and we all loved our very different meals.
Went for Vday. Pre-fixe only 85$. Put in back room, asked to be switched to beautiful main room. First fourse was very good but absolutely tiny. Secondand third delicious. Fourth course (dessert) sub-par: torte was dry and sorbet was watery and chunky.
Cool place but pre-fixe was a mistake.
I very interesting restaurant with an arrangement into an open space that is inviting. The market salad is outstanding. Even though the place slowly filled up, the noise level was kept to a minimum due to the very high skylight.
Most of the food was great (with the exception of one dish which was actively bad). However the service was not good. We waiting almost 40 minutes in between courses and ended up taking dessert to go because it was almost a 3 hour dinner. I’ve been before and it wasn’t like that so may have been a fluke.
Amazing spot for business brunch! Highly recommend :)
Very pretty and great for large parties too. I highly recommend.
The food was good and staff pleasant
Great neighborhood restaurant. Lovely setting, great menu, delicious well-prepared dishes, yummy cocktails!
The space is beautiful and the food was creative and fresh and delicious. It's a big space, but still feels intimate and has lots of separate areas and decorations to make for more private dining sections. The food was fresh and interesting and service was attentive and fast without making me feel rushed.
We were quite disappointed by the food, the burrata was salty, the cacio pepe was not cooked through and we had to send it back to the kitchen - we have never done that before....my halibut was good but the mushroom side dish was bland. Really hope they spend the time making improvements to the food.
One of my go to places for both business and personal occasions. Staff always accommodating. Exciting menu. Great ambiance
Went there for brunch. Very cool space with good ambiance. Service was very attentive. My only middling feedback was that the food was ok. Certainly not bad but just ok. Mt wife had the same opinion. Glad I saw the space but no impelling reason to go back. Also has a "Grade Pending" so personally I would want that resolved before i returned to any restaurant.
Amazing food and great attention to detail...from the flavors, to portion size, and presentation. Staff was attentive and friendly at just the right amount of each. The bar feels intimate; the dining-room could be a bit more cozy but it has great decor and lighting.
We went for our daughter's graduation celebration. It was a beautiful place and spacious for New York City. Service was top notch and food was simple but extremely tasty. Would recommend to anyone.
Great service, very friendly. They treated us to complimentary bubbles because we were celebrating my mom's retirement. Lovely experience.
FANTASTIC MEAL. It will be a staple in my NY rotation!
Beautiful room, great food and good service. A very warm ambiance!
This place was largely mediocre and unoriginal. And the problem is, the price didn’t reflect the service or the quality of the food.
The space is beautiful, for sure. But the food was cold where it shouldn’t have been and lukewarm other times. Would definitely not go back
I’ve been here many times and love it and the food. Our waiter, this time, was more than a little officious and pretentious. He attempted to complicate the experience at every turn. All we wanted was a nice Sunday evening neighborhood dinner, which we eventually got.
The service is exceptional at the milling room. Everyone is so accommodating and sincerely sweet. The food is phenomenal! And the atmosphere is perfectly NYC. Hidden upper West Side gem. My favorite nyc restaurant.
Beautiful setting; excellent food; professional waiter (yet very friendly and informative). We'll be back when we come to NYC for the next trip!
I love the space. The food was fresh and well prepared. It was our first time there and will return again. It was dinner before the opera so for us it was a good location and just a quick Uber away
We really enjoyed our first meal here! The space is beautiful, service was good and the meal was delicious. We also loved the Ventian Merlot on the menu, something we recently discovered in Venice.
The noise level was great too but it was early, so will be interesting to see if it gets noisy when busier.
Look forward to going back soon.
Interesting room - hadn't been there under this incarnation - with good food and fine service.
As stated above, the entire experience at Milling Room was superb. The staff were warm and welcoming, professional, and efficient. The food was amazing. The room is beautiful. The birthday dessert given the person celebrating was an extra surprise and delightful!
Used to be one of my favorite places, the food was good, the room is very large and can be noisy, the sommelier never came back for suggestion, so i picked my own wine.
The specials are tricky, because it is noisy and they are not written, it is hard to understand what is inside and they do not give you the price
Entertaining friends from out of time
My date and I loved this place. Service was excellent. Food was delicious.
The space is great but it’s too expensive for the lackluster food and service.
The vibe is awesome. Great light, cool decor, hip overall feeling.
Service was awful. Server came right over but we had just been seated and needed a minute. 15-20 minutes later... we had to flag someone over to place order. Food took a while... and we were not checked in with. We flagged someone down for an order of toast since food was taking a while and they delivered it on table without butter or jam. We needed to flag someone down yet again...
food was good, the mocktails were delicious but the lack of service even with plenty of servers and the place not full really compromised our overall experience.
