The menu is pretty small but everything on it is SPECTACULAR. Good ambiance too.
The Milling Room was sorely missed and so happy to report they are open and back in business serving the best meal on the Upper West Side. The staff are attentive and from the perfectly seasoned octopus to the perfectly cooked NY Strip and Pork Chop, there were no disappointments. Run to the Milling Run!
We had brunch here to celebrate some June birthdays. Although we were not encouraged that getting seated outside would be easy, it actually was not a problem. Our reservation was for 11am and we had our pick of tables. Even when we left, there were tables available. The heat on Sunday, may have been part of the reason why, but we were find until near the end of our meal. The food is always wonderful here. I've only had dinner, but would definitely return for brunch again.
We are an amazing meal at The Milling Room. The food was outstanding and atmosphere is very comfortable. A great place to go after exploring Central Park. If you are a book lover, The Strand is next door.
Good food in an interesting setting with a couple of vegetarian options
fantastic food, beautiful atmosphere, excellent service
A great place for dinner with good friends. Service was the best and wine by the glass was reasonably priced and delicious
We were there for brunch. Excellent service. High quality ingredients and great food and ambiance. We’ll be back!
Excellent food and service, we will go back for brunch
We had a wonderful Anniversary meal at the Milling Room. Food was delicious and the service was attentive but not smothering. Would highly recommend!
Milling Room never disappoints! Food, ambiance, and service all excellent. Best restaurant on the UWS, hands down. Thanks for another wonderful meal!
Great food and excellent service
Great meal and service. Lovely atmosphere. Glad they made it through!
This evening, there seemed to be trouble in the kitchen. I noticed a bunch of large parties around us. Our entrees took a very long time to come out - like 45 mins or so. Luckily we were in a celebratory mood, enjoying being out of the house, so we were patient. I did expect better from this particular restaurant. Our server was nice enough, but felt he could’ve gotten to us about another round of drinks faster than he did. We sat there with empty glasses for a while waiting for our entrees. This was our first time. The food was delicious so I’ll probably be back. But will keep in mind and order our entrees with our appetizers.
Chose this restaurant from Open Table and it didn't disappoint. Good adherence to COVID standards, excellent food and service.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food as always was delicious. It was a real treat to be able to eat indoors again in that beautiful room.
We know that it has been hard to hire staff. Our waiter was inexperienced and the busperson cleared dishes and bread before we were all finished with our appetizers. They might benefit from having a better handle on describing the menu.
They have a real chef! The specials are always special. Yum.
Good food and great service
The Milling Room was a pleasant place to dine -- the indoor room in the back with the frosted skylights felt like you were outdoors. The ambiance fell into the background, fostering conversation between friends. The drinks were delicious and the wine we had with dinner was excellent. Well done! The food was enjoyable. Would recommend!
We had the most wonderful evening last night - it was good to be back at The Milling Room. The food was delicious, we sampled the most delicious bottle of Rioja and were treated to the best Branzino and range of desserts. I love this place and good to have you back again!
New waiter it was his first day he told us ! made few mistakes with our order. Wrong desert. Wrong wine. Pushing us to order n felt rushed.
Delicious and innovative plates. Fresh ingredients sparkled with just a little gripe that some dishes were surprisingly small.
Indoors dining is lovely space. Outdoors is nothing special and they no longer reserve outdoors which is a shame in Covid times. Food was good but recall it being great last time we ate here. Branzino good. Prices have also increased.
I found the skate special to be just perfectly seared-with grilled top and soft bottom, almost like a soft shell crab-delicious. Wine recommendation also worked well with the fish. Will come back, i think the rating was too low for this lovely place. I liked the modern building with the glass roof, this was a theater night out with friends after a year away from NYC-it was special! Thanks
AMAZING! They even made my favorite drink, a Corpse Reviver! The food was perfect and the drinks were wonderful. Loved it and will be coming back.
We had an excellent dinner celebrating our daughters birthday. The food was amazing and the chef beautifully accommodated all of my allergies. Ambiance was impressive!
One of the best meals I have had in a long time. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for an experience.
Great, fresh food . Wonderful service. So glad to be back inside the beautiful dining room.
The food and ambiance were good. However my spouse has serious food, some of which are life-threatening, and we were very specific when we ordered how her food needed to be prepared and that it could not contain anything or have anything on it other than what we were specifically requesting. The waiter was very attentive and expressed complete understanding of what our needs were.. However, when our food arrived, all of our instructions as to my spouse’s’s dinner were completely ignored. When we asked the waiter what was on my spouse’s entree, he recited all of the items that we had specifically requested not be on it, apparently completely ignoring or failing to recall the very specific conversation we had about her allergies. It’s caused my wife great concern about whether she could trust anything further about completing the meal. To the restaurant’s credit, the waiter promptly provided a new entrée which comported with our instructions, but the anxiety that the experience caused my spouse defeated the purpose of the evening. This should not happen at a restaurant of this caliber. I should also say that I notified the restaurant of my spouse’s food allergies when I made the reservation and it was apparent that the waiter had been notified when We made the reservation.
Lovely food, lovely service -- one of the best restaurants on the UWS.
To start I had the Roasted Artichoke Soup which was light in flavor but had a pleasing taste. For my main course I had the Ora King Salmon which I requested to be cooked medium rare and it was moist and had a good flavor. The dessert was the only disappointment. It was their version of Sticky Toffee Pudding which did not resemble in appearance or taste the ones I had in Ireland as well as other places in the United States.
Happy to see The Milling Room has reopened. This is an outstanding restaurant and adds tremendous value to the Upper West Side. The food and service were terrific, as always!
Specials of the day were excellent. I was a bit disappointed in the wine by glass selection.
This was our first visit to the Milling Room. I would go back.
Asked for bread four times. Food was great. Hurried service. Two of the six meals came five minutes after everyone else. Gluten free chicken meal was served with pasta and had to be sent back. Expensive for not being perfect
We enjoy brunch here on Mother's Day. Considering how busy it was service was excellent. The dining room is beautiful and the frosted glass ceiling let's in an abundance of natural light. The French Toast was excellent. Also we enjoyed the herb cheese omelet and the Milling Burger. Would definitely try them for dinner in the future.
Perfect pick for the Mother's day brunch. Ambience was beautiful ; of the kind not often seen in restaurants in NYC. Food was excellent and service though good, was a little slow. But let that not stop you from going to this place! This is a gem on the Upper west side! Go and enjoy!
Beautiful restaurant with a sky lit dining room and attentive service. Food was delicious with the brunch menu offering a wide variety of plates.
The food, service, and pleasant outdoor seating (during the pandemic) are our reasons for returning to the Milling Room for special occasions. The indoor space is too loud for me. The strip steak was very good, but too expensive compared to the rest of the menu.
Was lovely. I wish the host were nicer. Everything else was
