Loved everything about this spot! The ambiance, the service, and of course the food.
Our server, Rudy, was AWESOME! Food was yummy.
It was a beautiful room. Great food and great service.
Service was a shambles and was not particularly busy
Very pricey for the quality of food and service. Chose this restaurant on ambiance, but that was a mistake. The $16.00 French martinis filled half a glass each with a very slight vodka pour. The salmon, ordered medium rare, was still swimming and had to be sent back. We didn't have a dedicated waiter and had to hail whoever came by, including the hostess.
Like other reviews, we waited 20-30 minutes for coffee and the check before hailing a cab to the theatre. It's a lovely space, but I'm not in any rush to return.
Lovely large room, very tasty menu! The service was lovely but I had to chase down a waiter for a wine refill and to get the bill. I have never been disappointed by a meal at the Milling Room and I'm glad to see them back open.
The food here was all excellent on the night we were there. The service was also great. Overall it was a pleasant surprise, since none of us had been there before. The space could feel large (it is a big room) depending on your table, but we were at a banquette and it felt quite pleasant and cosy.
Our server Billy was very accommodating and friendly. We sat outside since one of our party is a new mommy and not comfortable indoors yet. It was freezing but Billy was just as attentive as if we were indoors. My only Con was that the heat lamp was small and didn't have much power other tan keeping our heads warm. I couldn't feel any heat on my back lap or feet.
Warm reception. Attentive service. Excellent food preparation and presentation
Just a very non attentive borderline unfriendly Waitress, 20+ minutes to wait to order it wasn’t even that busy nor did our waitress have that many tables to cover.
Absolutely amazing time. Delicious food with attentive and friendly servers.
We went for brunch on a Sunday at 11am. Not too busy, and we were seated right away. Beautiful seating area in the back.
The waitresses and waiters were very friendly, prompt, knowledgeable, and attentive. They answered any questions we had.
I had the Eggs Norwegian. The smoked salmon was delicious, and the kale salad was surprisingly a refreshing pairing with the food.
My brunch guest had the French Toast. Thick cut brioche loaf, deliciously fried and served with sweetened whipped cream and delicious berries. The berries were almost like compote, but still retained their shape, just having an incredibly sweet flavor.
They should have told us when we arrived that the food would take 40 minutes, it was overpriced and not particularly good.
We went to the Milling Room for brunch and I found everything we had quite delicious. My friend and I shared three dishes: avocado toast is very average I wouldn’t get again, Ricotta Gnocchi with egg in it was very good, and the French toast was absolutely delicious. French toast was so good that we actually considered getting a second plate of it. I’d definitely recommend this place for brunch.
We love this restaurant. The skylights and resulting natural light energize the atmosphere. That said, it’s still a very cozy and welcoming environment. Effortlessly cool without pretension.
The menu is elevated enough to feel special and the food is very well prepared.
The service is warm and attentive from front to back.
Abbiamo consumato un buon brunch in atmosfera rilassata e tranquilla, servizio cortese, forse un po' lento ma non era un problema dato che nom avevamo fretta. Prezzi adeguati
We waited over 30 minutes to order and another hour for the food to arrive. We only got to order when we went inside looking for a server and had to check in again to actually have food served. No one checked on our table during our entire meal. Consider the pricy menu and generic brunch offerings, I wouldn’t recommend The Milling Room.
This is a charming, well-ventilated restaurant with excellent food and service. It is a bit pricey so we save it for special occasions.
Music was very loud even at 6pm. And, music was not appropriate for evening dining after 7pm:..oldies from the 60’s ? Jazz or blues at a moderate, background volume would have been nice. When the music is calmer the noise level is lower.I think more service attention is needed approaching peak times. Food was good especially seafood. A fruit compote would have been nice with the pork but had to ask for it from busboy sine server was not available.
I went with a group of girls for Sunday brunch. Am I ace is beautiful. Our waiter was helpful and very nice. Food was absolutely delicious.
The food was good but the portions are small and it was very expensive.
the perfect UWS place to go for a date night! We love this place every time.
this restaurant has been getting better and better. The food quality and presentation are outstanding. The dorade with provencal sauce was superb. The dessert: sorbet with berries and meringue was so good we ordered another after planning to share a single one. The service was impeccable and very friendly, from the reservation person to the waiter, to the runner. The noise level is quite low until 7:30 pm. Noisier later. I would go back anytime with pleasure.
It was a good experience. Food was delicious, but we waited for our check for a long time afterwards.
Brunch experience..loved the food and atmosphere..
Nice place and good very expensive
Small portion of a bland Potato leek soup. Despite it being served with a flourish in a large bowl the course was tiny and tasteless. Pork served with escarole and white beans was good but very fatty. The vegetarian squash dish was tasty but also too small a portion. Service, however, was attentive and it’s a pretty room.
Lovely place, good food, good service, a wee overpriced and a little too noisy though. Nice attentive staff.
Had a wonderful time at the Milling Room.! We were seated at a lovely table. The dining room is beautiful. Our server Jacqueline was extremely attentive. As it was my daughter's birthday, she went out of her way to make it special! Also, the sommelier suggested a wonderful wine to go with our meal. The meals were beautifully presented and so delicious. My favorite was the Alaskan Black Cod. All the appetizers we had were excellent as well. Great experience - looking forward to our next visit!
We had a reservation for 6:45 PM and when we arrived, we were told that our table was being set up and we should wait at the bar. The bartender was wonderful and made fantastic martinis. However, as we were enjoying our cocktails, we were watching multiple people come in and being brought back into the dining room. Finally, we asked the hostess what was up and were told, rather unapologetically, that they forgot about us, even though we were well within her eyesight.
The busboy was super nice, but our waiter was not very good. After a 15-minute wait, he finally came up to our table and just said, "ready to order?" What? We had to ask about specials and he didn't bother to ask if we wanted anything to drink. He disappeared before we had a chance to ask about wine.
We ordered food and he didn't check on us. Thankfully, the busboy (who was WAY more attentive than the waiter) stopped by and brought the wine guy Tomas to our table so we were able to order a bottle. Tomas was wonderful. The food was delicious, but the waiter never checked on us.
We were told that they all pool their tips at the end of the night, but I wish we could have tipped the bus boy , bartender and Tomas separately and given our waiter well below the 20-25% we usually tip. But we didn't want to penalize the others. So all in all, a mixed bag.
The beautiful barrel-shaped, glass ceiling of The Milling Room makes an unusual and wonderful place to have dinner. I and my companion each had different fish dishes, I had the Dorade, my companion had salmon. Both were excellent. Service is attentive without being intrusive. All-in-all, The Mill Room is a special restaurant that we're luck to have in the UWS.
Food is a mixed bag.
Cod was fantastic, butternut squash main was very disappointing.
Pork chops were so-so.
Service was very slow and server didn’t know how to direct on the menu.
For a pricier menu like this servers really need to know their stuff. Was disappointing.
The room and ambiance helped on all the negatives.
I love this place. Food is always delicious and the bread is to die for. I don’t know what’s going on in the kitchen but it is so delicious LOL. The service was great and I hadn’t been there since before the pandemic and I still love you just as much. I had my husband’s 60th birthday party there a few years ago and highly recommended for anything.
We were seated late. After 45 minutes of waiting for our food, we were told it would come out in aprox 40 minutes. Asked for the bill since we had to catch a plane which we informed right when we sat and ordered. Waitress was very rude at the end for some reason to this moment I don’t understand. Very sad as we were all excited to eat TMR’s food.
We waited an hour and 15 minutes for our food. The kitchen was overwhelmed and understaffed. That said, our server was lovely and the food was delicious when it finally arrived.
I’ve been to the Milling Room a couple of times a year for the past several years. I was a disappointed this time. I ordered the pork chop, it was half the size of previous servings. It wasn’t a full chop, it was just sliced. One of my fellow diners ordered the same and his was also small. Almost like they took one order and split it.
And the sides were overly salty. Very disappointing.
The food at the Milling Room is consistenly good. Nice outdoor setup.
Too noisy & too dark. Otherwise great food & great service
Nothing was bad…. Just not memorable.
Outstanding ambience, food, cocktails and service. A great restaurant to have in the neighborhood.
loud music coming from speakers near our table. i asked several staff to lower the volume and it was never accomplished.
