Went with the larger family for breakfast. Service was excellent. Attentive but not intrusive. Always made sure we had water or beverage. Plentiful coffee. Very nice. Space is beautiful with gorgeous sunlight in the morning. My sister said that she always goes here because the acoustics in the room - maybe bc of how it’s structured - you can always hear the conversation at the table no matter how packed the place is. I had the grapefruit brûlée and two eggs. The grapefruit was delicious with a crisp sweet shell. Can I try this at home? So good! The crab scramble was great per my brother. Was served in this cute little skillet. The waffle didn’t seem to get the best review. Bacon was good though I wish it could have been a bit crispier. Worth the price because of service and location for me. Food yesterday was hit or miss based on the order. What is good is really really good.
We were celebrating Valentine’s Day and we wanted a romantic spot with good food but didn’t want the overwhelming crowd, so we went the Saturday after. The staff was attentive the food was amazing and we were able to sit and have a lovely evening together without the huge crowd.
The side of potatoes, and the bread, were the best ever! I do think they should consider offering an Australian Sauvignon blanc by the glass, however.
We had a lovely dinner at The Milling Room. Great service, beautiful atmosphere. and excellent food. Highly recommend!
While the ambience, food quality and tableside service was good, the front of the house service was abysmal, especially considering the hype of the restaurant and expectations around the prix fixe special occasion menu. Essentially there as blanket disregard for quality of our party's wait time, which extended beyond the time of our reservation, despite repeatedly approaching hostess stand and 2 requests for management to share feedback over the delayed seating left our party feeling highly disappointed in the overall experience. I am of the mindset that the truth of a company's commitment to service and its patrons shines forth during difficult or challenging circumstances, not during easy/zero issue check-ins. Milling Room failed on virtually every level as it related to this. Thinly veiled hostility and pretentious attitudes left our party speechless. WILL NOT BE BACK.
The server was outstanding. The atmosphere was vert nice and classy. The food was avergae yet grossly overpriced.
A nice happy drink in the bar before going to our table. Our entrees were fantastic. One vegetarian and one was a cod dish. Wine was superior. Excellent service. Thanks!
Great vibe. The food was amazing. My husband and I split 3 courses so we could sample a variety of items and the restaurant did this perfectly.
Food and Atmosphere were great and our server (Elizabeth) was amazing as well!
What a wonderful experience
It was my first time dining at the Milling Room, and our party of four thoroughly enjoyed our experience! The service was warm, gracious and attentive to every detail. The knowledge of the menu was complete, and as one of our party had a dairy allergy, was able to guide us through options, with most dishes being able to be modified. The quality of the food was excellent and the ingredients were very fresh and well-married. The wine list was a nice collection of wines from various countries and regions in the US, and not overly expensive, so it was easy to select a very nice pairing at a reasonable price. The ambiance was delightful and quiet enough to enjoy conversation. We will recommend and return!
We had dinner at the Milling Room and the staff was extremely accommodating, decor and food were excellent. There was a Prix-Fixe menu option but we opted to order a la carte. The Campanelle with seafood had a luscious mouth feel, shellfish was deshelled so it was super easy to eat. The roasted cod was cooked perfectly, buttery and flakey. Will definitely be back again.
If The Milling Room wasn’t located in the food desert of the UWS, it probably wouldn’t stay open. A friend had raved about how good the food was, but felt embarrassed when we finally went together. The octopus was chewy and undercooked. The beans they sat on wasn’t cooked through. The cacio e pepe was swimming in what seemed like old pasta water. It barely had any pepper in it. The waiters kept asking us how we’re doing every 5 minutes, so we couldn’t even hold a conversation without being constantly interrupted. The space is beautiful, but for the price I’d take my money downtown.
Really exceptional food! Beautiful setting, lively, youthful ambiance. Will be our go-to UWS restaurant!
Save room for the bread pudding
Excellent service and delicious food. The 60 day steak was awesome!
This is a really nice space. The service was a bit slow, yet the energy level that night was good and the food was tasty.
I've dined at the Milling Room a few times and always have a fantastic experience. On our most recent visit, our waiter was Aton and he was incredible-- so personable, helpful and made great recommendations. The cocktails were super creative and really delicious. We'll definitely be returning!
I really loved the ambiance and style, and the food was excellent. The staff could be more welcoming and friendly. It seemed like they were very inconvenienced by their job.
We had a wonderful dinner for my husbands birthday. The food was excellent. The only issue at all was that we had ordered appetizers and were still enjoying them and the wait staff started clearing them before we were finished. It felt a bit rushed and we would have liked to be able to enjoy the rest of the appetizers. Other then that the meal was very enjoyable and we will definitely return!!
The pasta cost $40. I didn’t realize that when i ordered, apparently there are two price points. Extremely overpriced dish left me not wanting to come back, despite the nice atmosphere.
Food and service was great!
Amazing food and service. The environment was amazing and it made for a perfect location for a first date.
I’ve been here a few times - all very good. This was terrible. Our fillets arrived cold - a simple basic that a top restaurant would never allow. The rigatoni was over cooked. And even worse, the waiter got defensive and unhelpful. Because we were a big party - 9 people - they also just jammed 20% service charge on. Regardless of party size, these things are discretionary. Really bad experience and I will never go there again.
Our brunch was well fresh, flavorful, and artfully prepared. The service will bring me back in to eat, both because of the helpful host as well as our attentive intuitive server. The ample space is bathed in natural light. Somewhat expensive but worth the experience.
Saturday night, what more can I say? Busy, noisy
Food & service was great really enjoyed and would definitely recommend
Dramatic space, cheery atmosphere, RAGINGLY loud, ok food and service... all in all I'd say its a GO.
Staff is always welcoming and efficient. Food continues to be outstanding. Never disappointed .
Here’s the thing...The Milling Room is solid...I can’t really complain about too much (exceptions below) but I still find myself comparing this iteration with the Scott Bryan years! Bryan’s food was more refined and the menu a bit more balanced than the current place. I especially miss his touch with meat! The Milling Room now is very fish-heavy...and they do a fine job, but Bryan could really grill a nice steak. And that’s my main complaint. Get rid of the 60-day dried aged Strip Steak and bring back a damned Rib-Eye! A Rib-Eye is ALWAYS a better tasting cut and whatever they do to that Strip Steak ain’t good. Ditto their usual Filet ‘special’...it’s almost always a little tasteless. But if you stick with their pasta or fish mains, you’ll be fine. And corkage-free Tuesday’s is still a major draw. Service and ambience are top notch, but I’ll add a star if a couple of meat selections get added to an otherwise good menu.....
Beautiful setting, terrific food, and excellent service. Plus, they are very aware of treating handicapped clients with dignity and accommodations.
Molto bello, da visitare assolutamente per gustare dei piatti appetitosi
I love this place. The room is really warm and comfortable. The service is excellent and the food made with great care. Best risotto I’ve had.
Sat at the bar and had a great experience. Our bartender was very attentive and the happy hour has awesome prices. $8 for glasses of wine.
We had a great birthday brunch--beautiful space, good service and really enjoyed the food.
We celebrated our oldest daughter’s birthday there. Food was excellent, good wine selection without being overwhelming. The team made her feel special by putting a candle on her dessert. It was very fun!
Great atmosphere. Food was good. Service was excellent.
Gorgeous setting. Delicious food. Perfect service.
Outstanding server: Katherin
Not happy about some of the menu changes and some of the pricing. The new version of your steak tartare is misguided and served with the wrong kind of bread, (thickly cut toasted white bread, too spongy). There also seems to be a lot less of the tartare than before. The octopus was ruined by an overly spicy sauce. Salad and soup were good although I do wonder whether those bits of mushroom in the squash soup were really chanterelles. They didn't look or taste like it.
Coming onto the dining room wes very picturesque! It was very welcoming! The wait staff was attentive but not pushy, very helpful in describing the menu items & asking about any allergies (of which i did!) The food was served in an appetizing way & each course was Delish!! Thanx
