The Milling Room
It was very empty due to Corona virus but the place was great; we will come back for dinner after this pandemic calmed down
We went to The Milling Room to celebrate our friends’ birthdays. This was not our first time at the restaurant The food was delicious; service impeccable and ambiance lovely for the occasion! Tables are set far enough apart that it made conversation easy and, given concerns regarding Covid-19, very comfortable. Will definitely go back!
Great way to spend a birthday! Highly recommended
Had a delicious meal inside a beautiful place! The special, beet pasta with lobster was a particular hit! Sadly had to wait almost 40 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. Yet-would definitely go back, it was worth the wait.
A very beautiful setting, and plenty of room to be comfortable.
Food was delicious!
Amazing loved it
Great place. The food took a little long to cook
It is a solid neighborhood restaurant with good food and service but it is expensive. It is priced like a midtown Manhattan restaurant which it is not. Dinner in the neighborhood should not have to be over 100 a person. 70ish is more my speed.
5 stars for the bread alone. Great experience overall of course but, that bread though...
Waiter too busy for our table. Rushed.
great meal, nice setting - would certainly make another evening reservation at a future time
Just a great place to enjoy the ambiance! Food is competently prepared and the menu is definitely diverse enough for any palette. Happy Hour specials at the bar !
Fantastic service complimented by delicious food.
Excellent And varied brunch menu. Talented chef. Lovely setting with a light filled atrium look Making for a very pleasant experience. Very reasonable value for the area and portion sizes. Service was attentive and professional
Food was average nothing special, overpriced. Personally I would not go back for the brunch service.
Food was very good as was the service. But a noisy room — difficult for conversation.
The food here is absolutely wonderful, with terrific seasonal choices. Staff were great. I thought the price was good value for what we got.
I deplore that Open Table requires me to say that the noise level was "energetic." It was loud and disturbing and got in the way of enjoying the food.
Beautiful place and delicious courses. Highly recommend
This was our 2nd time back and we were both unhappy with our entrees. The pasta course was excellent, but the rest of the meal was a disappointment.
Great atmosphere, excellent brunch and coffee, impeccable service .
Went with the larger family for breakfast. Service was excellent. Attentive but not intrusive. Always made sure we had water or beverage. Plentiful coffee. Very nice. Space is beautiful with gorgeous sunlight in the morning. My sister said that she always goes here because the acoustics in the room - maybe bc of how it’s structured - you can always hear the conversation at the table no matter how packed the place is. I had the grapefruit brûlée and two eggs. The grapefruit was delicious with a crisp sweet shell. Can I try this at home? So good! The crab scramble was great per my brother. Was served in this cute little skillet. The waffle didn’t seem to get the best review. Bacon was good though I wish it could have been a bit crispier. Worth the price because of service and location for me. Food yesterday was hit or miss based on the order. What is good is really really good.
Had a wonderful meal. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area!
We were celebrating Valentine’s Day and we wanted a romantic spot with good food but didn’t want the overwhelming crowd, so we went the Saturday after. The staff was attentive the food was amazing and we were able to sit and have a lovely evening together without the huge crowd.
The side of potatoes, and the bread, were the best ever! I do think they should consider offering an Australian Sauvignon blanc by the glass, however.
We had a lovely dinner at The Milling Room. Great service, beautiful atmosphere. and excellent food. Highly recommend!
The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and decor. The food and the service were very, very good. the prices were a little high but not outrageous. The only problem was with a number of the cocktails. The amount given was chintzy, very poor for the price charged. It would discourage me from ordering cocktails in the future.
Food and ambiance were great, but service was quite slow. Very kid friendly.
While the ambience, food quality and tableside service was good, the front of the house service was abysmal, especially considering the hype of the restaurant and expectations around the prix fixe special occasion menu. Essentially there as blanket disregard for quality of our party's wait time, which extended beyond the time of our reservation, despite repeatedly approaching hostess stand and 2 requests for management to share feedback over the delayed seating left our party feeling highly disappointed in the overall experience. I am of the mindset that the truth of a company's commitment to service and its patrons shines forth during difficult or challenging circumstances, not during easy/zero issue check-ins. Milling Room failed on virtually every level as it related to this. Thinly veiled hostility and pretentious attitudes left our party speechless. WILL NOT BE BACK.
The server was outstanding. The atmosphere was vert nice and classy. The food was avergae yet grossly overpriced.
A nice happy drink in the bar before going to our table. Our entrees were fantastic. One vegetarian and one was a cod dish. Wine was superior. Excellent service. Thanks!
Great vibe. The food was amazing. My husband and I split 3 courses so we could sample a variety of items and the restaurant did this perfectly.
Food and Atmosphere were great and our server (Elizabeth) was amazing as well!
What a wonderful experience
We had dinner at the Milling Room and the staff was extremely accommodating, decor and food were excellent. There was a Prix-Fixe menu option but we opted to order a la carte. The Campanelle with seafood had a luscious mouth feel, shellfish was deshelled so it was super easy to eat. The roasted cod was cooked perfectly, buttery and flakey. Will definitely be back again.
It was my first time dining at the Milling Room, and our party of four thoroughly enjoyed our experience! The service was warm, gracious and attentive to every detail. The knowledge of the menu was complete, and as one of our party had a dairy allergy, was able to guide us through options, with most dishes being able to be modified. The quality of the food was excellent and the ingredients were very fresh and well-married. The wine list was a nice collection of wines from various countries and regions in the US, and not overly expensive, so it was easy to select a very nice pairing at a reasonable price. The ambiance was delightful and quiet enough to enjoy conversation. We will recommend and return!
If The Milling Room wasn’t located in the food desert of the UWS, it probably wouldn’t stay open. A friend had raved about how good the food was, but felt embarrassed when we finally went together. The octopus was chewy and undercooked. The beans they sat on wasn’t cooked through. The cacio e pepe was swimming in what seemed like old pasta water. It barely had any pepper in it. The waiters kept asking us how we’re doing every 5 minutes, so we couldn’t even hold a conversation without being constantly interrupted. The space is beautiful, but for the price I’d take my money downtown.
Really exceptional food! Beautiful setting, lively, youthful ambiance. Will be our go-to UWS restaurant!
Save room for the bread pudding
Excellent service and delicious food. The 60 day steak was awesome!
This is a really nice space. The service was a bit slow, yet the energy level that night was good and the food was tasty.
