The food at the Milling Room is consistenly good. Nice outdoor setup.
Too noisy & too dark. Otherwise great food & great service
Nothing was bad…. Just not memorable.
Outstanding ambience, food, cocktails and service. A great restaurant to have in the neighborhood.
loud music coming from speakers near our table. i asked several staff to lower the volume and it was never accomplished.
Servers were so nice and thoughtful. Cocktail was delicious. Mushroom gnocchi was outstanding. Carbonara was tasty. Atmosphere was socially distanced between tables so plenty of space. Loved the decor. Will definitely return to this place.
All the staff definitely are so kind and sweet, we had good service and food.
Understaffed when we went. Didn't get our food for 50 min or so after we ordered and even then it dribbled out and we had to remind the waiter a few times about what was remaining on our order. They did offer to comp one of our sides, but at that point that was just extending a pretty poor dining experience. I'm sure they'll sort it out though, just think that they're working through short staffing like a lot of other places.
Birthday. Too expensive
Spectacular evening. Felt very safe dining in! Highly recommended!!!
I love going to The Milling Room for Dinner. The space is especially nice with the vaulted, hight ceilings making it feel very roomy. The food is delicious too. It's creative, new American...I think. While I consider it to be priced moderately, everything is expensive now!
A nice place for a birthday, anniversary or friends reunion, they don’t rush you.
Migel our server was wonderful and food delicious. Party of 4 we tried most things on the menu- wonderful!
We really wanted to like our 8:15 dinner. But the specials were all sold out. The menu is kind of meh. The gnocchi should've been called mushrooms with potato dumplings on the side. And the service? The runners and plate cleaners were great. The wait staff? Practically non existent. We live nearby and wanted to support this restaurant. But, this was probably our final visit.
Despite the website saying “Please notify your server of any food allergies. We can accommodate most dietary restrictions.” They could not accommodate a dairy allergy. I could order from a choice of two fish dishes, but they could not make the vegetables served with the fish, dairy free. As that is a pretty common allergy, it seems rather ridiculous. In addition, the service was sub par, especially given the prices and ambiance.
Outdoor dining pre-Ballet at Lincoln Center. Early-ish reservation. Almost late to ballet. Maybe they are understaffed, but service extremely slow. Very quick to want to clear table, but slow to bring food/drink. Post-pandemic problems. Food adequate, however, and my guests were pleased. Nice outdoor area. Overall restaurant has lost some of it’s pre-pandemic shine. At least there is hope for improvement.
Melissa saved the day for our Brunch yesterday, and we are grateful for that. Great wine selection by the glass and we actually enjoyed sitting in the bar area more than in the main dining room, but there is plenty of space for everyone to find a cozy spot to enjoy.
My reservation was at 8:30 and we were not seated until 9:30 - didn’t receive our drinks and apps until way after 10. The restaurant was beautiful and food was amazing, but services was horrendous. The waiter comped a bunch, but it also sounds like the manager was making up excuses about why they were running slow, it was odd
The most AWFUL NYC DINING EXPERIENCE… we had a 7:30 reservation last Friday night.. we were seated within 10 minutes.. But waited ALMOST AN HOUR to get a cold octopus appetizer.( supposed to be hot)
Adding insult to injury was waiting OVER AN HOUR for our entrees….which NEVER ARRIVED!!
The General Manager would not speak to my husband, instead sent a waiter to say they were having trainee issues in the kitchen … And we’re expected to pay “Chef” prices for trainee experience??NO WAY!!
We ended up walking out hungry and embarrassed, as we were entertaining out of town guests…can’t take back that BAD experience!!
Came for my wife’s 50th. Had spoken to concierge in advance to let them know it was a special night. Unfortunately the entire experience was a disaster from the moment we arrived. Our table for 8 was set for 5, and was too small. It took over an hour for our order to be taken. Almost two hours before appetizers. First waiter was so overwhelmed, he lost his cool when one of our guests who has allergies tried to talk to him about that. He ended up walking away from our table, before completing our orders. The manager took over and was kind and attentive. But after that we didn’t see her until she offered up free desserts to try and make up for what was just a terrible dinner. Would not recommend. Shame, because place is pretty and food is good, but it was overpacked and understaffed, and not committed to service in any perceivable way.
Had 7pm reservation for wedding anniversary, arrived at 6.45 we were left sitting at bar until 7.45 and forgotten about. Finally got seated and we’re waiting 2 hours for our meal to come out. We got up and left. Very very poor service. Organisational skills was a mess. Definitely wouldn’t recommend going back. Very disappointed.
Food is always great here and very special. Fish is always amazing
I love The Milling Room! The food is always delicious! The indoor space is beautiful, but since Covid we have eaten outdoors and it is a comfortable and safe space!
The restaurant, in my view, is too expensive for what it offers: small portions and fairly limited menu choices.
Outside dining. Great.
The gnocchi was to die for. It, alone, would bring me back. Ambiance was nice. Service was fine. Did I say anything about the gnocchi? I’m still dreaming of it.
Really nice to be back at the Milling Room. Food was amazing! Attentive service too!
Overall a great experience.
It took 35 minutes for our Diet Cokes to arrive. The service was quite slow. When our food arrived, my friend’s “medium” hamburger was raw in the center.
Very disappointing experience. Ignored by waitstaff, xtremely long wait for drink food and check. No one asked how the meal was. 4/5 guests served then they forgot to serve the 5th person. Will not be going back
Service and set up great but food leaves something to be desired. Great wine list
less than half a bronzino was $38...
i found that outrageous!
Overall a great restaurant that matches its beautiful ambiance with its delicious food. Service is a bit slow even though the restaurant was not fully packed. It could be just new staffs need more training. I blame it to Covid.
Excellent service, beautiful setting, delicious food.
Drinks were great. Food was good. Great ambiance. But the service spoilt the night. Service was terrible. Had to wait over 30 mins past reservation time to get seated. No one came to take order for another 30 mins. Took forever to bring the food as well.
Food and ambience are fabulous. Too crowded to talk effectively. Service slow at the end.
Good food lovely venue
Excellent food and service in quiet outdoor seating area
Dinner last night was spectacular, we had the chilled corn soup with lump crab meat, and the special roasted cauliflower with baby beets as appetizer, both were refreshing and well seasoned, then we had the gnocchi, and the pasta carbonara as mid course, they were delicious. For entree, we had the chicken, and the dry aged ny strip, flavors were great, and same as the presentation. For dessert, we had the sticky toffee pudding, and sorbet with berries. The wine pairing suggestions throughout the meal from the GM was spot on. The service was impeccable and unpretentious. The space and the deco is gorgeous. It was a great experience and we look forward to dining here again. We highly recommend the Milling Room for a nice dinner out.
