   I've previously had great experiences at the Milling Room, but my latest one was extremely disappointing. I made a reservation and noted that it was my birthday. When we arrived, the staff said that they wouldn't have anything available for 10 to 15 minutes, even though I'd made a reservation. We waited in the bar for 30 minutes, and no one came to move us to a table. Once I told them that we'd been waiting for half an hour despite my reservation, they finally showed us to a table. No one apologized, and it felt like they forgot about us entirely. I don't think they ever would have moved us to a table if I hadn't said anything. I'd put that I was celebrating my birthday in the reservation, but no one wished me a happy birthday or asked if we were celebrating anything. I had to bring it up to our server, who did offer to put a candle in the dessert. When they started to sing happy birthday, they started singing to my friend instead of me, and she had to correct them. I booked the reservation because I was looking forward to a special dinner on my birthday. The food was great, but it was not enough to rectify the poor service and lack of apologies. I used to consider the Milling Room one of my favorite restaurants, but I don't think I will return after this disappointment.

   Very good welcome and service, but extremely inconsistent kitchen. Some dishes excellent, but one was terrible, two so-so. Prices are higher than food quality can justify. Same for wine list: $17 for a glass of not very special red. Noise level higher than expected for a self-styled fine dining restaurant.

   We had a fabulous dinner. The restaurant is spacious, beautiful and lit with natural light. Lovely! Our server, Jules, was amazing! She made our experience extra special!

   Not what it used to be. Food was terrible. The tuna crudo was average with more vegetables than tuna and completely tasteless. The pasta plates (cavatelli and bucatini) were simply terrible. I could not find the lamb in the cavatelli… I have come many times and the decline lately has been steep. It was my favourite place in the UWS. So sad.

   We had an 11 am reservation. I arrived at 10:58 and the restaurant sign read Closed. Another couple arrived, went in, and were asked to wait outside. A crowd of 10 people waited outside and although we were first to arrive, they managed to get in front of us, so we waited. After being seated we waited 6 minutes for waitstaff. My daughter’s dish was served with uncooked eggs. She sent it back and rather than preparing the dish properly, it was simply put under the broiler. The decaf coffee was undrinkable. When the waitress brought the check, she stood and stared as I calculated the tip. I cannot recommend this restaurant They need to revisit the concept of hospitality.

   Hello Miss Andrea, Thank you for your message unfortunate Our Restaurant open at 11Am that's why @ 10:58 our sign still say close but at 11Am the sign will be turn on open , for our waitstaff attending a Table we give a guest a little time to settle down and we start taking care of our guest, we have a higher standard level of service, we treat all our guest with higher hospitality and threat them like family, we hope on your next visit you will experience a difference moment than the one you had.

   The Milling Room has been a favorite of ours for a long time. We live in the neighborhood and whenever we bring people to the restaurant they are impressed by the room, decor, service, and above all, the food. Last night the service was excellent. The food, I regret to say, was mediocre.

   I have always liked The Milling Room. The ambiance is charming, the service is terrific and the food is delicious. Recommended.

    I have eaten here many times and have enjoyed the food and ambience very much. My latest experience dining here was a disaster. I booked a table on April 12th for a 7PM reservation on April 25th. The restaurant asked for a $35 per person deposit in case of no shows. My party and I got there promptly at 7PM and were seated. We ordered cocktails and sharable appetizers. We were told that we must order our meal at the same time so we ordered our wine, appetizers and dinners. During cocktails and sharables, our meal started coming out. It got worse from there. I've eaten in diners with more grace. What really infuriates me is that my Amex was charged $140 on April 12th, the reservation date as if we we no shows! I am so angry.

    Hello Mr Kristin thank you for your message, but one thing that i just have to say is we have a higher standart of services and policy, we will never and had never done this by guest showed up and still charge the guest for no show, we don't rush our guest even when we are busy, we also have a duration on the table depending on the size of party, i remember you call the restaurant and ask for a refund and what we ask was we just needed some more information such as the last credit card that was paid for that night and your respond was it was yr father in law paid and you can not ask him for that and for security raison we do not save credit cart in house in case of fraudland activities w r sorry for the inconvenient but hopping you will have a better experience than the one before
