Delicious food. Shockingly easy to hear. Outstanding service.
The entrees were a bit uneven. For example, one guest’s pumpkin and lobster risotto was bland and not particularly delicious, while another’s filet mignon was excellent—seasoned to perfection and absolutely wonderful. Appetizers and desserts were uniformly good. With the atrium-like barrel vaulted ceiling, the atmosphere is special, but the large table in the back of the room, in front of the fireplace, is unpleasantly dark—even with candles.
I took my coworker here for a little bon voyage dinner since he’ll be working in Palm Springs for several months. We both loved it. The atmosphere, food, and staff are truly amazing and on point. Definitely will go there again and again and again..
My daughter and I recently dined at The Milling Room. It is such a delightful place and the fare is absolutely delicious. I ordered the Crab Omelette and my daughter ordered the Pumpkin Risotto. I would definitely eat here again next time I'm in NYC. The Upper Westside is so charming and a nice getaway from Midtown.
Terrific, imaginative cooking. We loved it! The only thing I would ask is that they could possibly do something to absorb some of the ambient noise. THis is a great UWS find.
Excellent as always. Too loud. My fish was extraordinary but mt friend's risotto was 'too much' for a main course and not sufficiently interesting.
unusual food choices excellent attentive service waiter brought free ice cream sample at end 'cuz she observed we were having a birthday
My family and I were in this neighborhood to see a concert in Central Park, and we decided to try the Milling Room for brunch. The ambiance was very nice and the food was great. The menu offered a nice section. I would recommend this place for a weekend brunch
Birthday celebration with girlfriends.
Noisy room with excellent food and service. Octopus and heirloom tomato appetizers were excellent. Salmon, bass, halibut and chicken entrees were all excellent.
Noise level was a very loud at 7pm.
A surprisingly lovely room considering the unimposing entrance. The food was beautiful. Amy husband had a mixed salad with beetroot that had a lovely dressing and I had a pumpkin risotto with lobster that was tasty and perfectly cooked.
It was a dinner with a dear friend and former colleague before we moved out of NYC. I love the Milling Room for its exemplary service and original food options. Plus the dinning room is always a wow factor. I would recommend this restaurant as highly as I would Gramercy Tavern or Union Sq Cafe.
Amazing experience. Seated immediately. Food excellent and the service was outstanding. Beautiful room.
I've been to the Milling Room a few times, and this past experience was by far the worst. I likely won't be returning. It was a Tuesday night and fairly crowded, so I'm not sure if they just couldn't keep up with the demand? But the kitchen was very slow, and the scallop entree was almost inedible. The scallops were only seared on one side, and the balance of the dish was way off, too acidic. It's a shame too because the ambience is very nice.
The Milling Room is one of the special dining experiences in the Upper Westside. Beautiful interior, expertly trained waitstaff, reasonable prices, and exceptionally crafted food.
Food very average.
All good except I had half a meal that I really wanted to take home and waitress or busboy threw it away without asking me if I wanted to take it home!!!!
Ambiance was amazing. However, our table needed a good wipe. It was sticky.
Waitress took forever to take our order.
Food was good it was little pricey.
Still had a good time but not sure I would come back.
We would recommend the milling room with certain caveats. 1. Be aware that the noise level measures 8 on a scale of 10. 2. Although, food was good, many items could be found cheaper, and more creatively prepared at other similarly priced restaurants.
Pros: Our desserts were great!
Was there for brunch. Had short rib hash which is a favorite. The burger was also popular with my guests. I love The Milling Room esp during the day when it's sunny and you get to see the place light up.
Varied menu, great food and service. Have been 3x and will be back
Great meal and service
Our table wasn't quite ready when we arrived but the bar area was spacious enough to accommodate us easily while we waited only a few minutes. Very attractive rustic/chic dining room. Must be pretty amazing during the day when the surprisingly large glass vaulted ceiling brings in natural light. It seemed noisy when we first sat down but somehow we could comfortably hear everyone at our table despite substantial ambient noise-- a nice acoustic trick other restaurants should emulate! Everyone at the table was happy with their meal-- stone fruit and tomato salad with creamy burrata as a starter and the pumpkin risotto were particular hits. The service was quiet and attentive. It was our first visit and we'll be back for sure.
The rating says it all! Wonderful experience in every way.
Excellent food and service. Will definitely come back!
Birthday - we brought a cake and they served it to us which very nice!
Delicious food in a European style setting with attentive service. Menu is on the smaller side, but the food is excellent. Great date night spot.
Always good food and fun
Lovely room, lovely food and and a friendly well informed very helpful waiter.
Excellent food and service. Highly recommend!!
Very pretty restaurant located on Columbus Avenue. When you walk into the dining room there are skylights which add a most beautiful light to the double vault high ceilings. It's a very striking atmosphere. We went for my friend's birthday. I had the escarole caesar salad to start. The leaves were crisp and fresh. They made their own homemade flat-cracker like croutons which were very tasty. Then I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly. For dessert I had the chocolate mouse which comes with a combination of light and dark chocolate, sprinkled with crunchy gold candy drops and raspberries. My friend that the linguine vongole in white clam sauce which she said was so-so. It looked like a small portion of pasta with big clams ontop of it. The bread on the table had a wonderful crust. I would recommend it for the ambiance. The sun set while we were there and the room became dark with candlelight. Very nice for a special occasion.
Terrible service. We had to beg for our waitress to take our order for drinks, for food, for dessert - there for three hours. Would not go back.
We came here for brunch and it was surprisingly empty! We started with the slab of bacon which may have been the highlight of the meal. It had this tangy, spicy barbecue sauce on top which was great! The rest of the meal was your standard brunch fare. Solid, but not particularly memorable.
The interior was well lit and spacious, and because it wasn't terribly crowded it was not nearly as loud as other bars! Service was great.
This is our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood and the new chef is doing a great job!
Service was absolutely fantastic and the food was thoughtful and delicious
Very nice place with a beautiful indoor atmosphere, but does it have to be so ice cold, it ruined unfortunately the overall experience! Nice food and good service.
Great food, service and atmosphere. What else could anyone want?
The food and service were spectacular! Everything we had was excellent - the tomato heirloom salad, the yellow tomato soup, the corn risotto, the cacio pepe and the side of carrots we shared. The space itself is beautiful as well. Will DEFINITELY be going back!
