Gorgeous setting. Delicious food. Perfect service.
Outstanding server: Katherin
Not happy about some of the menu changes and some of the pricing. The new version of your steak tartare is misguided and served with the wrong kind of bread, (thickly cut toasted white bread, too spongy). There also seems to be a lot less of the tartare than before. The octopus was ruined by an overly spicy sauce. Salad and soup were good although I do wonder whether those bits of mushroom in the squash soup were really chanterelles. They didn't look or taste like it.
Coming onto the dining room wes very picturesque! It was very welcoming! The wait staff was attentive but not pushy, very helpful in describing the menu items & asking about any allergies (of which i did!) The food was served in an appetizing way & each course was Delish!! Thanx
always good. First time I've seen the prix fixe dinner. The quality of choices was excellent. It was a particularly nice experience from a place that always delivers.
I have to say our server Lizzy was absolutely fantastic. Every single time I go into Milling room she genuinely makes the experience worth it. She remembered my name after only being there one time months prior... She makes everyone feel so welcome, warm, and like we are guests her in home. She has an extensive knowledge not only on the menu, but also wine pairings, cultural an dining protocol, and my favorite her knowledge for food. I am not always the easiest of guests and I know that, but she truly makes my quirks welcome. Thank you Lizzy you are a gem!
Small portions but hands down one of the best restaurants on the UWS
Went for 1st time brunch. The ambiance is good, excellent food and excellent service. Would definitely go back for lunch and or dinner. The history of the structure is very interesting as well!
Good for all of the above...
Went on a date. Great atmosphere, food was delicious and so was their sauv blanc! I arrived early and sat at the bar. Great cocktail list.
Excellent food but very indifferent service by our waitress.
I took my sister here for a magical dining experience. Excellent meal, service and wine. One of our favorite places in the Upper West Side.
Always pleasing food variety in an informal quasi-romantic setting and superb service
We had such a great time at The Milling Room. The service was impeccable - your wine was always poured, your napkin was folded if you got up from the seat, and our server was extremely knowledgeable about the ingredients of the food because our table had several dietary restrictions! The food was AMAZING!! We got the octopus, ceviche, salad, and beef tartare appetizers for a table of 6 which were all amazing. Most of us got seafood which was cooked to perfection and very complex in flavor profile. Would definitely come back!
Excelente service! The waiter was super attentive and ready to help us to cover the needs of a toddler
Food was excellent. Service was mediocre and forgettable
Second wonderful dinner wit friends, and won't be lst
Amazing restaurant! Food is great, outstanding service, perfect cocktails
We went for Christmas Eve dinner. The food was very good and the atmosphere is always fantastic there. It was quite busy, but we felt well taken care of despite the fact. I
Food is excellent but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Drinks came out very slowly (I think our server might have forgotten to put our drinks order in), and we often couldn't find our server or anyone else for that matter to help us. It was probably just an off-night; we'll try again.
Great service at a quiet table to see a friend from long ago
First time here for brunch and was quite happy with the experience. We ordered eggs B, an omelette, and salmon with latkes. All were excellent. The salmon dish was somewhat small but nevertheless commendable. Enjoyed sitting under the skylight and the service was friendly and professional. Berry dessert was excellent too.
A great dinner spot in the Upper West Side. We made reservations here on a Saturday night and had no problems once we arrived. The ambiance is perfect here with a nice open dining space. Food and drinks are outstanding. Highly recommend for a night out in the city.
We stopped going to the Milling Room about a year ago after a disastrous meal under their new chef. This week, we returned & were delighted that the restaurant is back to being very well run and with a lovely, innovative menu and wonderful service. Our only complaint: the dining room was super chilly.
Beautiful room. Comfortable seating. Delicious food. Attentive service.
Great service and space, but the food was underwhelming
Awesome restaurant! Elegant space, delicious food, and quality service.
Beautiful room and setting. Fantastic food -literally everything was delicious. Service is acceptable but doesn't rise to the level of the setting and the food. Overall, we love The Milling Room and can't wait to return.
We were in New York for a short visit and The Milling Room was right around the corner from our hotel. We went for a cocktail and light meal one evening and sat at the bar. Service was great and food was delicious. Next time we ate for dinner and changed our seating to the bar again. Dinner was delicious and great service. I would definitely return to this restaurant next time I'm in the city!
Beautiful room. we ordered two special cod and filet. the cod was unique and very good, the filet unfortunately was terrible. It was very "rubbery" for a filet, but they made good and took it off the bill. appetizers and sides were terrific.
First time eating at the Milling room. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. All four of us had only compliments. Definitely will be back.
Not great service sitting at the bar
Very nice restaurant with great ambiance and it wasn’t too crowded or noisy so you could still have a conversation without yelling across the table. The drinks were good as well as the food. I ordered the steak and asked for it to be cooked medium but it came out very rare. I sent it back and they brought me another steak that was slightly less rare but still not medium. I ate it anyway and it was still quite good. My wife ordered the sea bass and it was delicious, and we had the bread pudding for two which was also very good. The only reason I can’t give five stars is because the waiter was very inattentive and they didn’t prepare the food the way I had asked. Overall it was still a good time and I would still come back.
It's a beautiful place, and the food is also delicious - a nice combination. The Fall Salad was a true taste sensation - a treat for the senses. Service was terrific. Our only complaint is that we were at a drafty, cool table, on a not terribly cold night. The restaurant is a warm and wonderful one and so the cool drafts were a bit surprising.
very good, just a little pricey and a little too limited on menu
Very loud, we had the worst table location (should have asked to be moved). Table of five round could hear only the person next to me. Off night with the kitchen. Very very chewy filet of beef special. (Three of us ordered it and it really was a bad cut). The server we had
We LOVED this hidden gem! The food was fantastic, and the ambiance is stunning. Service was a bit slow, but overall I would HIGHLY recommend!!
They're a nice addition to the neighborhood, with good food and friendly service, so I hope they stay around for many a year. Though they may screw up a drink order and forget to take it off the check, their hearts are in the right place and will do whatever it takes to make your experience there a good one . The place is very spacious with high ceilings so it wasn't as cozy, quiet and intimate as we would have liked for our anniversary, but it was uplifting to see everyone around us having a good time nevertheless. Next time I want to get a seat upfront by the window or sit in the bar area. I think that's more my speed.
An outstanding restaurant with great food choices, excellent accommodating staff and a beautiful atmosphere. A little pricey but well worth it.
It had been a while since I’d gone to the Milling Room. The food is still excellent but I was surprised by how expensive it’s become. I’m not sure I’ll be returning.
