Service was off. Coffee came out cold. Butter didn’t come with bread and toast was cold when it finally arrived. No apology.
The dining room was spacious and attractive with a beautiful, skylight adding to the spacious look. The noise level was quiet low, and there was plenty of space between the tables. The cocktails were very good and the wine was reasonably priced. We had entres of Halibut, duck breast and a pasta dish. All the entres and appetizers were delicious, the bread was also excellent. The pasta dish came on a prefix menu which was very reasonable with a app and dessert included. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. A fine dinning experience.
Great ambiance. Warm and welcoming. Open so can be a bit noisy. Low lighting. Service and food were excellent. Lean more towards wine than martinis.
The chef is definitely trying to be different, but so far the food was hit or miss. We've tried duck breast special and it was delicious and as good as it gets; the risotto however was not balanced and left a strong black pepper after-taste. The service was awesome, cocktails great and atmosphere amazing.
Food was amazing and loved the ambiance. Our waiter was really conversational but the service was soooo slow and we had to continue to ask for our drinks and more water.
Everything is always great at the milling room.
The restaurant was very spacious and dining room beautiful, but quite noisy regardless of how many people were there, and VERY dark (had to use iPhone flashlight to read the menu). We came during happy hour, but could not take advantage of the prices on drinks in the dining room (only at the bar). Service was quite slow. The food was generally excellent, although the vegan option was quite salty.
The atmosphere at the Milling Room is sleek and welcoming. The food is extremely good . The only problems are that it can be noisy when the restaurant is full and the wine list needs more affordable entries.
Great ambiance and food was great. Vanessa was my server and she was very personable and knowledgeable. She was amazing.
We have enjoyed many meals at The Milling Room - and all have been worthy of praise. This time things exceeded our expectations and that of our friends who are well traveled, eat out very often and can be particular. They were as impressed as we were - their 1st visit and certainly not their last.
Super job combining service, excellent food and ambiance into a memorable dinner.
there were plenty of staff but the service was unbearably slow
Great space. Very pretty, spacious. Good food.
One of our favorite places on the UWS. Great food and drinks, and really wonderful brunch menu. And the bread at dinner is AMAZING.
Had a great dinner with friends. Recommendations by our server were spot on. Ingredients were fresh and seasonal. Milling Room is a gem of the UWS.
The appetizers were great. The mail dish with the meaat was good but the fish was a lot less (tasteless). The ambiance was great, really cozy!
We had a good time. The bill was somehow surprisingly high.
Great service. Excellent food. Creative cooking. We'll go back.
Have been here several times and never disappointed. Vertices preparations. Had a delicious sweet potato soup, that I hope can get recipe for. Spanish mackerel served with root vegetables was great and have never seen that fish in a restaurant before.
Service was attentive and not obtrusive.
Look forward to returning soon
Last night the restaurant was quieter than usual which was great for ambiance and conversation but on the food side I find that the choice is too limited and some dishes are lacking appeal and flavor. Preparations are uneven. The mushroom risotto is the best I have ever eaten but the roasted chicken was a dried up, tasteless lump.
A group of 6 that got pushed up to 8 at the last minute - included 2 toddlers and an infant. We were very happy with how accommodating the staff were to our circumstances. Beautiful space and good food. Only down side was the food took a long while to come
A beautiful restaurant with great food and attentive service.
Very disappointing service. Arrived at 6 PM. Ordered from the pre-theater menu. Still did not have our dessert at 7:25 PM. Had to race to theater.
My friend was 30 minutes late and our server kept me cheery with banter, coffee and just the right amount of attention. The food was delicious--my only complaint was that there was not enough of it ;)
The food was excellent. Service was a bit slow. Atmosphere beautiful. Really special. Highly recommend the restaurant.
Service was terribly slow. Brunch menu is overpriced for what you get.
They offer a menu of very poor options and they charge you extra for the dishes. The waiters do not warn you of this situation and you get a surprise when you receive the bill, and very expensive for what they offer
I went here for a quick birthday brunch and upon arrival the hostess wished me happy birthday, nice touch! We had the kimchi avocado toast, totally a unique twist on the traditional version and totally worth a try. We also ordered the short rib hash and the almond croissant breakfast sandwich. The breakfast sandwich was interesting not too sweet which was my concern but it was good.
They also were so nice to send us a little birthday dessert at the end. I’ve loved this location for a while, the arboretum is such a great dining environment. Will be back for dinner.
Brunch menu is limited and not good for those with gluten or food allergies.
Limited menu, small portions and most dishes are substandard. Waiters do the best they can.
wonderful food, amazing service. highly recommended.
Beautiful restaurant and lovely staff...
My husband ordered the spicy clams and bucatini and the clams were like rubber. The waitress was wonderful and immediately replaced the dish with a chicken dish that was quite good.
I ordered roasted pork with lentils which was tasty, but I am not certain that it was pork. I was so busy talking that didn’t think about it at that point, but the color and consistency was much more like beef...??
The wines by the glass are limited...🙁
Great Christmas Eve dinner!
Had a great experience at the Milling Room on Christmas Eve from start to finish. Dining room was beautifully decorated, and the quality of the meal matched. One of our favorite restaurants on the UWS, consistently provides a lovely evening.
Exquisite food in a beautiful setting with excellent service. Group of four ordered just mains with one side and this was more than adequate in terms of portion size. The important thing was the taste and very high quality of the food. The restaurant was a tad cold but that is really nitpicking given the beautiful surrounding. Very highly recommended, we will be back.
Four of us all really enjoyed brunch, each getting rather a unique dish, while 2 of us enjoied original cocktails. Bill came to $130, so it's not a cheap spot, but food was great. The inside has a glass, greenhouse-like ceiling that let in beautiful natural light, which is unique to a ground floor center block building in NYC. I was pleased as the one who chose the lunch spot.
Excellent food and very attentive service. Our only wish is that there were some less expensive wine options.
We took my mother in law for lunch so quiet was important. Noticed it’s looking a little shabby - chipped tables etc.
Nice place. Great food. Needs a bit more selection
Beautiful room, innovative food and terrific service. Loved that they didn’t rush us.
Excellent meal--great flavors to the dishes. Also, really festive for a special holiday meal.
