Food was awesome! Drinks were very good as well, but a little on the pricey side (no specials for brunch). Service was a bit slow even though it was only moderately busy at the most. Overall, I would definitely go back and recommend it.
This is a Hidden Gem of Tampa, was here early in the day so there was a lot of space and quite. Our server was spot on to the party arriving and getting everyone taken care of as we arrived. The food was full of flavor and interesting to your normal brunch food. Drink was well done and completed the meal as a whole.
Dissapointed with appetizers, the watermelon bruschetta was very soggy, it was recommended in reviews so that's why we tried it. $12 or $13 for 2 ribs, a tiny piece of corn bread and coleslaw that was totally flavorless.....not a good start. My rib eye and street corn was very good. Husband's chef special with seafood very good. Philip was our server and was excellent.
Don’t waste your time. Value for the meal is better placed elsewhere in town. The menu is ridiculous. Less is more and harder to do well. Loading up on long, drawn out menu descriptions of ingredients shows a lack of sophistication in entree design. Nothing is cohesive. From the decor to the menu - done by someone or someones that don’t know the meaning of the word edit. Heard good things about St Pete and that’s why we tried it. Hope you take this constructively.
Food was good, service could use some work.
But it was very loud and difficult to hold a conversation with the person sitting next to me.
Watermelon Bruschetta was great!
Disappointed with bar service with getting drinks out, was explained that the bar was training. The training is a very valid response, but poorly executed training time chosen considering it was Saturday night at 8pm. In general staff seemed overwhelmed. And 8:15 reservation not ready till 8:40pm. Potential but won’t be back soon or recommend.
Great food, great atmosphere-service was amazing. Only down side- I ordered the shrimp entree and got 4 shrimp for 26 dollars.
Danielle- Thank you for the amazing service review. please reach out to me at jsowa@themillrestaurants - we would love to invite you back!
Another 2-go-2 for us. If you like good food and different kinds of twists on food, you will love this place. Excellent customer service, excellent ambiance. The Waiter was very knowledgeable and that helped us to make multiple selections with the small plates.
Thank you for the amazing review! We take pride in our service and food knowledge and we are so happy it translates to the guest!
We went here as a family. The service was excellent from when we were greeted to the servers and manager. Even the valets were super friendly and left us cookies in the car! Food was a little complex for the kids (older teens) but all tasted really good. The excellent and friendly service would make me want to return and the decor was cool too.
Thank you so much for the amazing review! Come try our saturday and sunday brunch sometime- The whole family will enjoy it!
With four of us for dinner, we were able to trade bites throughout the evening. In general the food was pretty great (my ribeye "Pittsburg style" was the best I've ever had). One of the appetizers and one of the desserts was interesting, and sounded like a good innovative idea, but didn't quite hold up: the watermelon bruschetta ( a bit tasteless) and the pound cake grilled cheese (oddly constructed and fell apart). The crispy spare ribs and the apple streusel got rave reviews from around the table.
Amazingly attentive service, by all employees.
The noise level picks up after 7:00, and gets quite loud with a combo of music and chatter. Really comfortable and interesting atmosphere, though.
We all had a good time, and will go again, no doubt!
Great food, environment and service
Creative, excellent food. Service was friendly and attentive. Were there on a Sunday night, quiet with only a few tables occupied. The atmosphere is casual, not a complaint, just a bit of a surprise given the sophistication of the cooking. Will certainly return and recommend this restaurant to our friends.
We went to the Mill for dinner as a couple. We were seated right away, and the server was courteous and prompt. The southern fried chicken salad was good, not great. Scallops were served in a sauce with too much balsamic flavor and a bit too salty. Initially my husband was brought the wrong entree, but they quickly brought the correct one- short rib, which was over cooked and dry. To their credit, the manager and chef apologized and comped the entree and gave us a free dessert. Valet parking was nice. They are trying but need to improve the food, considering it is fairly pricey.
We loved the food & atmosphere! The Executive Chef came out to talk to us and service was wonderful. They didn’t let our water glasses go half empty and changed out plates and silver appropriately! To top it all off our car had fresh cookies waiting for us when we left! We will be back!
2 friends & I tried The Mill this week. The service was somewhat slow, however I may have been in a hurry due to tickets to a movie 1-1/2 hours after our early reso. We had a delicious charcuterie platter & cocktails. And then 2 of us ordered the mussel dish & the other ordered the grilled octopus. We weren’t crazy about the mussels. They were in a cream sauce instead of a wine broth, but the octopus was out of this world! Amazing!!! Chef came out to check on our meal and we were honest. He was truly gracious & we definitely will return. The server was super nice, as was the MOD.
Hopefully they will have their draft beer machine hooked for our next visit. The steampunk/bamboo decor is fun. Parking is great at this venue.
Service was great. Share the food.
Very eclectic menu. It can be a little intimidating if you aren't a foodie but that's where the server comes in handy. He or she can help you sort through some of the options to dial in on what best suits your taste. The only issue was the lack of healthy options. My wife watches her diet closely and had a hard time finding something she could eat without eliminating several ingredients, which defeats the purpose of the dish. She ended up going with a salad.
ScottM-Thank you for the review- Next time you come please ask for our chef- we are happy to make a special meal to suit any dietary needs! We hope to see you again soon!
Always great times at the Mill.
Thank You RKJRMJ
Excellent, interesting dishes paired with incredible cocktails and a charming atmosphere.
Thank you BrettL - we cannot wait to have you back!
Very disappointing. We lived in downtown Saint Pete and discovered them out there. It was great, a real draw, people loved going. This new location in Tampa just feels tired, out of date and not really ready to carry the legacy.
Food was terrible, the service wasn’t much better. The magic is gone for Tampa. Hopefully the downtown Saint Pete operation is still carrying the torch.
Go somewhere else
Good drinks and service. Was a little noisy. Food was poor. Everything was very sugary. The watermelon bruschetta was sweet to a point of us not being able to eat it. Noticed quite a few tables sending food back.
I thought the food was good especially the Meatloaf Wellington. The noise level, however, was quite loud. Service was excellent.
The food is ok....nothing special at all. The service was average. There is too much competition in this area I’d town to have ok food and average service. We will not be going back anytime soon.
From my Facebook post:
Tall Boy, his brother, and me go to a relatively new south Tampa restaurant on Father’s Day, lured by the exotic things on the menu. We make reservations.
We’re seated right away. We look at the menu and decide.
“Oh no, the waitress says. We just ran out of snapper.”
We try again. This time, bison. “Oh no, we just ran out of bison.”
The boys adjust. They order something else. It takes forever. The salads and meal come out together. Who does that?
Then: dessert. We order. She comes back. “So sorry, we’re out of our chocolate desert”.
Are you kidding me? WTF? Do you have ANYTHING?
I really hate to give the name...but really...this place does NOT have its act together and should be avoided at all costs. Crappy Fathers’ Day to you!
Great service, ambience and food! Disappointed, Jack Daniels or Tito’s not served.
Bern’s pricing, but this is not Bern’s
Enjoyable and I will return!
Great place to celebrate. Will go again...........................,......
We really enjoyed the food and our service. We were not impressed with the wine selection. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves!
6 of us went out and they put us at a great table in a separate area. It felt like a private dining room. Waitress was great and thoroughly explained the whole menu to us! Food was yummy. Drinks could have come out quicker from the bar.
The food and service were outstanding! I will definitely go back.
Good place for brunch. Food is very interesting and uses great flavors. The small plates we had were the fritters and biscuits and gravy (and sausage patties) and they were dynamite.
I had the BBQ grilled chicken sandwich and really enjoyed it. My wife had the burger and it was a bit overdone, but not enough worth complaining. We've both had it before and it is delicious when cooked right (medium rare to medium max).
Cocktails were a mixed bag - I thought I remember the bloody Mary being better than it was. Ask for the drunk that looks like the tazerac from avengers if you like gin. Very good.
Josh was a nice server and gave a good effort, he just was a bit behind on everything (probably due to the rush). We had to ask for refills often. Perhaps staffing a few more on Sundays could help.
All in all, a good experience.
Ate outside and flies all over the table. Bison was like eating shoe leather. Charlie’s Bison is so much better. Not even close.
Frank i'm so sorry to hear the about the Bison. Please come back and give us another chance to wow you. Thanks The Mill Family
Good restaurant, unless you find street parking you have to pay for valet, will definitely return. Portions are huge.
Thanks Bob. #wecantwaittofeedyou
Very creative menu. Better wine selection than most. Excellent (Bill). Attractive decor. A bit noisy. Will certainly go back.
Larry thanks for the 5 stars. We think bill is great too. About the noise we have recently installed noise adsorbers on the ceiling. Same ones used by Ozzy Osborne. Hope to see you again soon Thanks The Mill Family
Outstanding. Food and service awesome.
Thanks for the 5 Stars! #wecantwaittofeedyou Again!
Food was just horrible. Chef not accommodating at all. Waited for food over an hour after ordering. Sunday Brunch. Hardly any cheese inside grilled cheese sandwich. Terrible drinks. Very bad experience. Cannot recommend at all.
For an empty restaurant Saturday at 1pm for brunch.... not a good sign. The food was delicious but the service was HORRENDOUS. Took 25 minutes before anyone waited us and even brought water. That pace continued for a 2.5+ brunch. And again, restaurant was at about 30% occupancy, if that.
Loved the atmosphere and good food! Service was slow getting our main course but they are new so I would definitely go back.
Great service and the food was very good.
