The Mill Room at Boar's Head Resort
We have had dinner here twice and breakfast once. The room is elegant amd quiet. Dinner was excellent on both occasions. Our server was Alicia and she is knowledgeable, courteous and gracious. I had lobster risotto (DIVINE) my husband had the beef (excellent). 2nd time I had beet salad and he had garden salad. I had BC salmon and he had lamb. Again excellent. Wine list good and not insane. Highly recommend
On Sunday September 15th 2019 for brunch, I brought my family-7 of us-grandparents, sons and my wife. We had a very enjoyable experience. The food was great as was the service. My 87 year old father-in-law had a craving for a piece of pecan pie. Even though pecan pie was not on the dessert table, the manager was able to find him a personal small pie from the kitchen. He was delighted! This extra touch was not lost on me. I have been to the Mill Room several times and would go back again!
It was nice to eat where you can relax and have a nice conversation without a lot of background noise. . Waiters were very nice!!! Food was good...with a few unique options like Peach Gazpacho and Peanut Soup and some staples to suit many tastes.
It was terrible! We had reservations still had to wait to be seated, had to wait until a waiter came, wait forever until he came back. Food was average to below average tasting and very small portions with high prices. I used to love the Boars Head and was looking forward to trying the newly renovated restaurant. Nobody was friendly, nobody did a good job and the food was mediocre and expensive. DON'T GO
Really enjoyed my lunch at The "New" Mill Room. I thought I was going to be disappointed with all the changes from The "Old" Mill Room but I am liking it more upon my second visit. The booths in front of all the windows are great. The decor is lovely and the staff are as friendly and accommodating as ever. I ordered a lobster pot-pie. I was taken aback by what was placed before me. It didn't come closed to resembling a pot-pie. Regardless, it tasted great! I guess I am more of a traditionalist than I realized and still getting use to so many of our contemporary chefs creating their interpretation of the classics! The Mill Room is heading in a contemporary direction that I am sure will be much appreciated.
Such a treasure!! Beautiful ambience, efficient, pleasant service.
Made our anniversary super special! Brought the 2 desserts that we couldn’t choose so brought them both out for us to have. The mill is going for a more casual vibe and is no longer required/expected to wear coat/tie FYI
Very nice. The renovation appears complete and the restaurant and staff are again tops.
Good. Food was cooked nicely and the remodel of the restaurant came out well. Prices are “Resorts High” but still reasonable.
As a frequent guest of what was The Old Mill Room we were of a mind to see what had become of the restaurant after its recent multi-million dollar makeover. First, the good - the food remains as excellent as it ever was! Everything we had from the scallop and bacon appetizer, the lobster bisque, the entree diver scallops (me) and pork chop (wife) were all exquisitely prepared, well seasoned and absolutely delicious. Even dessert, with my flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sorbet and my wife's expresso creme brulee, remains just as phenomenal as it ever was. Now, the bad (this is just a personal opinion mind you) - the ambiance and upscale dining feel of what was The Old Mill Room is gone and likely never to return. We had the distinct pleasure of being seated in front of the fireplace on several occasions and the warmth of the fire just added to fine dining experience we had grown to love. The wait staff dressed to the nines and the impeccable table cloths and fine china were all part of the experience but again those are gone and replaced with certainly no less attentive wait staff but definitely not dressed as one would expect/desire for a fine-dining experience and absolutely no more table cloths. I am sure the new vibe will attract a wider range of diners with a less formal dress code and if that works and makes The Mill Room an even bigger success then I am happy for them. That being said, I think my wife and I will have to look elsewhere in the future for a more formal and quiet dining experience when that is what we are desiring for those special occasions we celebrate in such fashion.
We had several meals there. Delicious breakfast, both buffet and by order. I especially enjoyed the root vegetable hash for breakfast. For dinner I had the halibut, delicate and savory, and best of all not over cooked, which happens sometimes.
The hostess did not look up to greet us when we arrived. We had to get her attention even though we were standing right in front of her. Then they made us wait while they reconfigured the table. The food was just ok. The bacon was good and the dessert but everything else was mediocre. After our waiter got our drinks he never came back. Other people collected dirty plates but we never got refills on drinks. We had to ask someone else to bring our check. Not at all the experience we expected. Far too expensive to be treated this way. Train your staff please. I understand server mix ups but the experience was bad. The worst thing though is to arrive at a restaurant and be ignored by the host. We should have walked away at that point.
Food was delicious, stuff was awesome
The renovated dining room is very inviting with a rustic elegance ambiance. Our waitress was extremely pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu items.
Food was excellent in taste and quality.
They added a surprise for our anniversary.
Can't wait to go again.
Beautiful dining room and view. There was a little confusion with which brunch food we were allowed. Apparently there are 2 different brunches and our reservation time was between the two so both were being served and we didn't realize you couldn't choose items from both. Quite a bit of price difference. Otherwise Donna took great care of us and we will return soon.
The Boars Head has done a wonderful renovation. The outdoor ambiance is lovely. The food is good though very overpriced. They need to add more middle of the road items rather than completely gourmet dinners. A nice dinner entree salad, a lighter pasta choice, and possibly a sandwich. They will miss a lot of potential customers if they do not make a few changes.
I came to celebrate my husbands birthday because I had heard that the place was renovated and we were anxious to try it. I will start out with the positive, the waitress was wonderful, friendly, punctual and kept checking on us.
The downside, the menu we found very limiting, so we all ordered "out of the box" for us and were across the board disappointed. The simplest items needed salt desperately (fried green tomatoes), the kale salad had a funky taste and three of us ate maybe 1/2 and just could not finish and the lobster pot pie was not a pot pie at all but a think soupy mess. I'm sorry, but I would not go back.
All around champion!
We really appreciate your support. Thank you for taking the time to send us some feedback. We hope you will be back to visit again soon!
This was our first visit to the "renovated" Mill Room. The room was nicely redone with a little more sophisticated look than before. The menu was fresh and the food was terrific. The wait staff was attentive and very pleasant and personal. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Too expensive for what we had. The waffle was good but the omelette much to cheesy. The meal took too long to arrive. The wait person had to apologize.
We had a very bad experience at the Mill Room. Our halibut was undercooked and raw in the middle, the server forgot about our drink order and the Mill Room thinks that 65 degrees is the proper temperature to serve white wine. The renovation is wonderful and the bar and dining rooms are much improved. Let's hope the food improves and they hire someone who knows something about wine
I went to the Mill Room with my mom for a short spa trip at Boar's Head Resort. We can't say enough good things about the entire experience and especially the food. To start with, the chef always sends out a special daily canapé for patrons. The first night we ate, it was a tiny cornbread round with smoked duck and a dollop of goat cheese and tomato relish. We had fried green tomatoes, which were crispy and not too greasy, served with their own honey, pimento cheese, and a red pepper aoili. I ate a salad with grilled salmon on top, and Mom had a pastrami-seasoned beef. Everything was cooked to perfection. Dessert was ridiculously delis, but we were so full we couldn't finish them. Highly recommend this place!!!!
We had a wonderful time at the Boar's Head Inn Mill Room restaurant. Went for a birthday celebration, and we will return. The food and service we're excellent. The renovated dining room areas are beautiful and comfortable.
The Mill Room was an amazing experience. Not only was the food absolutely incredible, but the wait staff was very nice and accommodating. They even sent us home with a complimentary slice of chocolate cake!
It was so pretty and the food and local wine were great.
Such a perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal with family and friends! Thank you!
Every dish was exceptional! The best fried green tomatoes w pimento cheese! Great ham & biscuit board. Delish fried quail & lamb sliders. Fab desserts.
We had stayed and eaten here before. It was good then but now the entire resort and restaurant has been
Renovated. A much brighter atmosphere. This was our 38th. Anniversary and wanted the dinner to be special and we were no disappointed. The appetizer was a board of hams, duck and cheese. Very good.We had the bourbon pork chops which were tinder, with mashed potatoes with carrots. It was excellent. Could decide on deserts so got bread pudding with ice cream and a non floured chocolate cake with raspberries. Needless to say the wife and I were smiling when finished. The staff was great and helpful when we had any questions. Have relatives coming soon from Scotland and this will be on one of our dinner list visits.
Went for my husband's birthday and took our two elementary-aged girls. We were so pleased with the experience overall - the new decor is bright, the restaurant is not too loud, kids were welcomed, and they had a terrific kids menu that included basic kid fare like chicken tenders, but also has solid, healthy appetizer and entree options like salmon. It was a terrific experience.
We enjoyed a lovely anniversary dinner at this restaurant. Our server was lovely and gave us enough time in between courses to be relaxed and enjoy dinner at a leisurely pace. The food was excellent and the drinks were tasty. Over all, a wonderful experience!
Outstanding experience all around. Nothing but positives.Food, Service ,Ambiance and Value .
We are in town for 2 nights and staying at the Boar’s Inn. Found the restaurant lovely. The 4 of us each ordered something different and everyone loved their food. Staff were very attentive. It was a warm day but dinner with the fireplace made for great atmosphere. We would definitely eat here again.
Yesterday was my first time in the new renovated Mill Room. It was a delight!
The service was exceptional and the food was delicious and so pretty!
The Mill Room does the best Sunday Brunch!! Make a reservation
Loved it! Great dining option while a guest at the Boar’s Head Inn. Had three meals here during my stay and was never disappointed.
WE totally enjoyed our visit to the Mill Room on Wednesday, July 24th, for dinner. The service and the meal were excellent. The ONLY thing we would like to see changed would be to have cream served with our after dinner coffee rather than milk....it's possible that it is there for the asking but we just went with what was served.
We enjoyed great craft cocktails and then proceeded to dinner. Enjoyed the charcuterie and then the scallops and shrimp and grits entrees with the suggested wine pairing. All quite good and we had great service from Nancy.
Wonderful venue, beautiful interior!! Must go! The food is outstanding and the service is always served with a smile.
We have visited the Boars Head every July for the past 14 summers. As a rule, we've always sat at the bar in the bistro for several meals. We thought the original renovation concept was to expand the more popular Bistro space. What has seemed to evolve is a much larger bar, with the same foundation of Old Mill Room menu. The menu could take a cue from the bistro, with more sandwich. and mainstream diner choices. The bar service is abysmal. A woman next to me for an Old Fashioned. She waited 15 minutes
When you hear the words Old Fashioned, start mixing, and hand to customer. On four visits for dinner, once we were turned away for no reservation, once we were to eat at the bar, but gave up after no attention for 15 minutes. The food is fine, the s service is hot or miss. We will keep trying because we are BH veterans, and hopefully this is just growing pains. The loss of longtime servers and bartenders should not be discounted. These folks become friends after years, an we miss them, such as Memo. Chelsea, Noah, and Eileen were excellent. Broaden the casual choices
We ate four dinners there instead of eight. This is not likely unique to us....
