About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Romantic
Classic Irish cuisine from chef Sean Smith in the Kildare countryside.

Sean’s mouth-watering new menu is as always sourced locally with some ingredients even grown on the very grounds of the Cliff at Lyons Estate. Food lovers will enjoy classics such as Roast Rib of Beef, Cherry Valley Duck Breast and Oven Baked Baby Turbot with sides of seasonal vegetables, mini Seafood platters and of course for something a bit sweet, Whiskey & Orange Ice Cream or Chocolate Fondant with Salted Caramel Ice Cream.

The Mill restaurant is the heart of Cliff at Lyons, with huge double-height ceilings, warm open fire and windows that open up to a terrace beside the mill race and waterfall. Here, you will find a relaxed style of dining where it is easy to enjoy a lunch or dinner with friends or family. The illuminated waterfall provides a unique back drop to this airy and spacious room.

Service was very slow, plenty of staff but just walking around not looking after tables. Roast beef was nice sides like mash roast potatoes were cold carrots were burnt. Waiting 25 mins for staff to clear plates and they had to be asked to clear them. Restaurant was not busy. Would not recommend Sunday dinner there overall service and value was very poor and the food was disappointing.

Saturday Lunch. Lovely lovely venue with great views before and during service. Really nice friendly team on floor. Both of us had 3 course lunch and a glass of red. Ham Hock, Beef Cheek, Sundae, Salmon, Hake and Terimisu were had and I'd have them all again. A firm virtual handshake to the team

Top top place, but good value too. We did Sunday lunch and we were spoiled from the moment we entered the gates of the estate. EVERYTHING went perfectly and we left with an uplifting experience. The service was noteworthy and well done to whoever is driving the 'customer service' ethos here, thank you.

Wonderful experience except for one little thing - I asked for tap water (this is only thing I drink) and I was very annoyed to find out - after the fact - that I was charged €5.50 per bottle of water - was it tap water??? I don’t know - was it? When I was in service industry many years ago, it was illegal to refuse or to charge for tap water!

le repas était délicieux, de l’entrée au dessert. Il est dommage que la carte des vins ne soit pas au niveau des menus.
