The food was well prepared, fresh, and delicious, but the wait staff seemed frazzled and not able to keep up. I had to motion numerous times to get their/his attention.
Excellent food and wine options for a price that while not cheap is fair value for the experience and lovely view.
A little pricey, but nice ambience and good food. Tables a respectable distance apart.
Excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed it. The food and service was awesome!
My sister was visiting from overseas, and I brought her to lunch. The food was delicious ; however, service is disappointing ; especially for restaurant at this level. Listed as follows were what had happened.
1. Waiter seemed to be extremely overloaded. Took long time to wait for him to take our orders. Again, it had taken longer than usual time to wait until our desserts were served. People arrived later, ordered prefix three course lunch, served by a different waiter got their desserts before us, and we had to chase for ours.
2. We checked the bill, one of thé desserts should be covered by the prefix was being charged as an individual item..
3. I showed my membership card at the reception counter for 10% discount entitlement. When the bill came, it wasn’t there, as if the waiter was not informed.
If I did’t check cautiously, I would have paid almost $50 more. Please always check your receipt. I am blessed with funds to enjoy a sumptuous meal once in a while with guest but every single dollar is hard earned ...
Great way to spend an enjoyable afternoon. The majesty of The Metropolitan Museum Of Art is adequately captured in the well appointed dining room, unique menu, value & quality food & charming wait staff.
The pasta was so badly overcooked that it clumped together into a mass - a ball of pasta (not a bowl). The ragu was excellent, however. The service was disastrous. Everything had to be ordered at least 3x. Dishes were served out of order. Coffee, when it finally arrived, was cold - but it took so long to arrive, we didn't send it back.
But I have eaten at this restaurant many times before. The food and service have always been good until this visit.
One of the most delightful dining experiences I have enjoyed in recent years.
It's always relaxing to escape to the dining room on a crazy/busy weekend at the museum. Tea is especially quiet. Compared with similar teas around Manhattan, the one at the MET is a reasonable $30 for a soup shot, three sandwiches, three tarts and scones. Except for the scones, the food is just OK, but the actual tea is very high quality and the ambiance overlooking the park can't be beat. There are no options so you need to be OK eating seafood and nuts.
The food is always very very good.
The food was exceptional. I would have preferred a la carte but it was truly yummy.
We have eaten at the dining room many times. It is always a pleasant experience. The staff is friendly and professional. The menu items are creative and well prepared. The wine list is small but interesting.
Menu choices were very appealing.
Wonderful meal!! Great service, great lunch, great views!!
Very impressed-- much less off putting than the last time-- several years ago- that I was there. Lovely meal and quiet-- may go back again but only for a special occasion as the price is a bit steep-
Crab cakes were delish.
Such a pretty space.
It was unfortunate that there was a baby making all sorts of annoying and loud noises and the parents seemed to think it was vey cute and were impervious to the impact on the experience of other patrons.
Excellent service. Very good food. In a room that feels like a throw back to the 1980’s., although not a period piece worthy of collection.
The staff was wonderful. From reaching out via email and receiving a quick reply to the level of service you experienced within the restaurant. Plus, the complimentary passes to the museum was the icing on the cake. Highly recommend!
The waters rush around and have probably too much to do! Forgot one drink and brought 2 salads instead of four!
As always, the dining room at the Met was great. It’s always wonderful to see Elizabeth at the Hostess desk. We loved the lunch. The food was great and our waiter Rascel, took such good care of us.
As noted previously, we make an effort to stop by the Dining Room whenever we are in NYC. We took a friend there for lunch, and it was once again truly outstanding. We have never had anything less than an excellent meal and excellent service there. Very highly recommend.
I brought a guest with a dietary request for very-well-cooked Salmon. We knew there was a problem when he server could not distinguish the medium rare dish from the very well cooked dish. As it turned out,
her salmon was cooked medium rare. She said the salmon was not cooked to her request. The server and hostess graciously had another salmon cooked to her specification. She was grateful, her intestines were grateful.
The service has markedly declined. Our server was slow, did not check back, brought us the wine- we asked to taste first but poured anyway, brought us someone else's desserts, brought us and charged us for a cappuccino we did not order, and failed to give us our member discount.
We had to get someone else to fix this. By the way, we had a late lunch. It was not busy as the room was nearly empty at 2 pm.
I recognized only two waiters. Things have really changed here. Also-the bread sticks are nice, but bring back regular bread and butter. However, the food is still very good.
Excellent food, atmosphere and service.
I would like to recommend to the staff to pay more attention on the floor, dirty with dropped food. Not pleasant to see.
The staff at the Dining Room have always been very helpful and courteous. I have always enjoyed my choices be they salads, entrees and desserts. Looking out the wall of windows to Central Park adds to the ambiance no matter the weather.
The Dining Room is a welcome respite during a day at the museum, with well-portioned dishes, and a good value price fixe menu. Soups and salads are tasty and well prepared, particularly the tuna dish. Dessert is more than incidental, with a delicious warm chocolate cake. A few wine selections keep the overall lunch tab in double figures. Serving staff is attentive, perhaps a bit too much as closing time approaches.
Great service and view of Central Park. Afternoon tea was lovely however finger sandwiches didn’t taste amazing or really fresh and neither did the desserts. Service made you feel special. Overall it was a nice experience
We had a reservation at 1:30 for lunch. We thought it a good idea while visiting the museum.
I suppose the first thing that was suprising was the menu. My wife wanted to order the salmon, our waiter paused, then pointed to the $55 price. He said we had to buy the lunch package that included appitiser, entree and dessert.
Well now this was a suprise. My wife and I made eye contact and agreed to go with it.
We placed our order and waited. Her soup and my crab salad arrive post hast.
8 on the yum factor!!
Then the bread arrived. It was a very nice mixture including fresh mini scones, blueberry.
Plates were cleared excepting the bread plates.
We waited...and waited....and waited... 35 to 40 minutes. Our waiter, who was continuously moving, slowed to tell us our food would soon be out. It came in 5 minutes. I got the burger, my wife got the salmon asking for it to be blackened, it was and...it was very good! My burger was also very tasty.
Once finished we waited for our pre ordered dessert. Sigh...we waited...and waited. Then someone came and collected out plates leaving space for our dessert. It did arrive. Hers was chocolate cake of sorts mine was a small plate with mixed fruit, nothing special though. Very simple presentation but...my lemon sorbet was missing...the fellow who delivered the goods looked puzzled when I asked for my frozen treat. He turned and walked away returning with a very small scoop of lemon sorbet about the size of a small kiwi, if that. It was crunchy and tart.
Overall..food was good but not $110 good. Wait staff are over worked but friendly.
We were there 2 HOURS!!
As a one time "experience " I wouldn't go. There are several places close by with great Italian foods..greek foods..even food trucks....
The museum is amazing, full of eye candy. The Dining Room however lacks.
We are excited to return to the museum, but we will be eating somewhere else.
Time to add better decor. It's just old looking. Everything else good!
A beautiful view and delicious food. A surprising bread basket with whole grain bread, yummy seasonal gingerbread, and current scones. Delightful!
Excellent service, good food and nice dining room, you can see Central Park.
Best place to go if you are visiting our Metropolitan Museum of art. Tablecloths, view ,service and food is good. Place to rest before taking on more exhibits! Can’t go wrong.
The room was indeed noisy. Too noisy. Perhaps some modification can be made? Other than that, it was pretty wonderful. I love this room. The food was good. Too bad no omelets for lunch but my hamburger was great. Thank your for having such a beautiful dining room.

The kabocha squash soup was outstanding! The Creekstone Farm burger was excellent.
Our waiter was attentive and thoughtful, made good suggestions and was happy to provide take out bags for our desert. The food was mostly good with one exception--the salad was minimally dressed and the dressing had minimal flavor.
An excellent dining experience in an elegant location. On the spot service. Reasonable prices for a quality meal among the Central Park treetops.
We were there for a anniversary brunch with friends. We were seated immediately. It would’ve been better if we were closer to the windows which provide a view of Central Park West. Food was brought out promptly. Service was impeccable. Our server was informative. They even gave us our dessert that said happy anniversary. It made a lasting impression on our guests. They were very appreciative of the entire event. We will return again.
The waiter spilled the water and didn’t apologize. He couldn’t find the wine I requested even after I told him the name and page number. Server also called out the price of the bottle of wine to confirm my selection instead of the name. “Is it this one? The $65 dollar one?” Other server brought us bread without butter—I had to request it. There’s no music so it feels strange in there. Food is completely forgettable. Would never return.
