the 3 part Prix Fixe was wonderful for $55 for Saturday lunch and totally delicious. After navigating the crowds in the museum, it is a welcome refuge for a break. Lovely staff and a beautiful space.

Marvelous experience! The charred octopus was sublime! Also the molten chocolate cake! Great view of the obelisk. Outstanding service.

I love afternoon teas, but this is a (literally) weak version of an English experience. Both our teas were so weak it barely tasted like tea. The sandwiches were dried out. We did not enjoy the soup. The pastries were good, but not great. Now, most of these things were very citrus forward, so I suppose if you enjoy a pervasive lemon flavor you might enjoy these things. I see other nice reviews and pictures and wonder which one of our experiences is the norm. The room is not modern, but has a lovely views of the park. The other cafes in the museum have better offerings in more modern settings. I think this space caters to an older crowd that does not care about mediocre food costing much more than it should.

I am sorry to say this is NOT the place to have afternoon tea. The scones where over baked. I had bagged tea (not expected for a pot of afternoon tea). The server gave us the wrong menu, despite having a tea reservation. He asked our tea choice. He didn't check in on us agin until much later. I excepted him to explain the food to check in with us earlier for another cup of tea. He checked in with us much later to ask if we wanted more hot water, not another pot of tea. for the $30 per person we paid, I expected better service. The room is very nice with a view of the park, if you get a window seat. The dining room is full of older patrons, which we expected. I'm sure there are much nicer places to have tea. Next time we need a hot cup of tea at the MET, I will go to one of the cafes in the museum for a bagged tea and a middle of the road pastry. Other museums have had much nicer light meals at their fine dining locations.

Lovely setting. Truly elegant and a treat on a Sunday at the museum!!! Enjoyed every sip of afternoon tea and bubbly. The sweets were too sweet.... and alas no clotted cream for the scones. Whipped cream just does not do the job!! But oh so elegant.

My husband and I enjoyed the afternoon tea however I’d steer anyone away from the cinnamon tea as it tasted like cinnamon hot candies. Our children had the children’s brunch (hamburger and French toast), which was good. The service was a bit slow for our taste as we wanted to get back to the museum so we opted not to get the dessert that is included in the brunch. Had the server been over sooner, we would have ordered it. Overall, we’re glad we went but won’t go back during our next visit to The Met.

If you don't feel like leaving the museum and want to grab some dinner before leaving, don't write it off as another museum food court. It's really nice, and the food is great! Do expect museum prices.

I was there with two friends. Two of us had the tea and one ordered lunch. Service was adequate but not particularly attentive. It was clear the waiter was eager to have us leave as the time approached 3:15-3:30, even though tea is advertised as being available from 2-4 pm. The tea was very nice, although a fourth sandwich would be great.

This is one of my favorite dining rooms in NYC. The cheesy bread sticks are addictive with the pesto sauce. My friend and I both had the delicata squash with thin sliced pink apples, walnuts. It was delicious and the skin was edible. My main course was a burger, medium rare was good but was not juicy. The bacon was very smoky and very delicious. The fries were standard fare. My friend had grilled scallops that had a beautiful char and she said it was very good. It came with three sauces. For dessert I had the olive oil cake which came with a very intense chocolate mousse. My friend had the warm apple crisp. It was a lovely lunch.

I was in New York from California to celebrate my dad's 85th birthday. We went to the museum, and wanted to have a nice celebratory lunch. They gave us a table way back and to the side. I asked for a better table explaining about the birthday. They said nothing else is available. In a few minutes, saw table freed up. Asked for it, was told NO again. Dad and I just left. No point paying their high prices for such attitude towards customers.

Green salad with no dressing (guess they forgot).
Risotto laced with too much salt.
Two deserts - one spoon. Coming with it ... and then forgot.
Completely over priced for the quality.

For a nice date, nothing beats a combination of atmosphere and fine food. The dining room at the Met offers both. With plates that are artfully prepared with delicious selections, the backdrop of Central Park through the wall of windows becomes even more magical. I look forward to many more visits. This time around the beet salad, grilled octopus, and the burger were the meals of choice. And none of it disappointed. The grilled octopus was the best that I have had and the unique blend of spices on the beet salad gave it a flavor that pulls you in several directions before deliciously blending all together. It’s definitely on the list of “must have” if you make the trip.

Window table w/ a view of the obelisk. Very special. Single complaint is that the menu is geared toward "ladies who lunch". The burger is the only real meal. My wife loved the fish special: snapper. A wonderful way to enhance a day at the museum.

We have been Met members for decades and it’s always a treat to go to the Patron’s Dining Room. We enjoy the views of Central Park, the ambiance, the meals presentation & exquisite flavors, the professional waitstaff service. We enjoy taking friends to a different & enjoyable dining experience and this is the place to be for brunch, afternoon tea or dinner.
We look forward to our next visit.

Three of us ordered the fish dish, two ordered the red snapper and one the scallops. Initially we were told that they had Salmon which we ordered and then later we were told that they did not have any Salmon. Each dish was supposed to come with mixed grains which neither of us wanted and we were told that we would get extra swiss chard instead. Also each fish dish is supposed to come with a 'trio of sauces'. We all still got the mixed grains and for all three of us they brought out one small plate of the trio of sauces that we had to share. Each were about one tablespoon. We noticed other tables where one person ordered the fish dish, that person got the same amount of sauce. Made no sense to us and our waiter never came by to ask us how things were and he looked so busy so we put up with it. One of the red snapper fillets had two small bones in it and neither dish had any flavor. The scallops were reported as being good. Prices were too high and we are not rushing back there anytime soon.

Went for afternoon tea and the menu was pretty limited. Of the 3 sandwiches 2 had seafood. The bread was slightly dried out on the sandwiches. The squash soup was very good. Tea choices were limited but what they had was good. Also ordered hamburgers for the people who didn’t eat egg salad, crabmeat or salmon. They were ok. But not worth the $$. At the end of the meal, we waited for some time for the check then had to ask for it.

We visited at lunch on New Years Eve, so it is quite possible that the usual staff were not present.
We found the service to be adequate, but nothing more. The servers quickly took our order, and we saw little more of them except for delivering plates and removing finished dishes (for example they did not ask if we wanted refills on drinks or coffee with dessert). Service was not bad, merely inattentive, and not to the standard that one expects at these prices.
The food was pleasant, but not outstanding. The ambiance was good. I would recommend to somebody visiting the Met if they do not want to eat in the cafeteria style locations or venture outside to other restaurants, but would not suggest this restaurant as a "destination".

Had a lovely time with my British friends. They were kind enough to substitute the crab sandwich I couldn't have by bringing me 2 others and they brought extra cream, butter, jam but those portions were skimpy for 4 people and it wasn't clotted cream but whipped cream but it was still tasty. It was also very beautiful to look at . Those soup tureens were adorable. Felt like a doll's tea party. Loved it and will definitely be a go to place when I have visitors.

The Dining Room at the Met was everything I have come to expect and more. Unfortunately, there are times in New York where a plate arrives at your table and your realize just how overpriced it is. Not today. It is the kind of meal that you sit down and you savor every single bite. The kind of meal when you get up and leave, you immediately want more. The service is incredible, which complements the amazing food. Add to that a beautiful view of central park through a gigantic wall of glass. It truly is a dining experience like no other, and after dessert it’s just a short walk back to some of the most wondrous treasures from around the world.
I would also like to personally thank our server, Otto. Despite how busy everything was, he was attentive and spot on with everything. It was very much appreciated.

We had a reservation for 1:30 lunch with our family and two 90+ year old grandmothers. We weren't seated until 2pm. The food was not good. I had the tuna crudo for an appetizer. It was combined with a sweet spiced sauce, raisins and nuts. Not flavors I would ever think of combining with tuna. It overwhelmed and was not appetizing. My scallops were way overcooked and served with 3 sauces that I would never combine with seafood. The restaurant was noisy, especially for those wearing hearing aids. It is way overpriced for the sub par dining experience. Never again.
