Loved that we were seated in the window as requested. Honored to be at the”Queen’s” table. Thanks so much!
My extended family including our new grandson, celebrated my wife’s special birthday day for brunch. Everything could not have been more perfect from the beautiful dining room to the excellent service and delicious food. As a long-standing member, I appreciated the discount and complimentary brunch alcoholic beverages. The Dining Room at the Met is a wonderful venue for special celebrations!
Great place but a bit overpriced. Most guests are members. And portions are small for the price. The food is fresh and very tasty. Chef is def good.
A lovely lunch once again on a sparkling day at our favorite New York restaurant The Dining Room at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We were concerned to learn the restaurant management company is changing & recommend the new management keep the same waiters, runners, busmen, & hosts who have served us with love, care, & friendship for so many years. Encore, encore, encore.
Good food, great service in a setting overlooking central park that can not be beat. It is civilized. Perfect for a rest when you are visiting the museum or otherwise.
I enjoyed the dinner at the Dining Room at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The ambiance was comfortable, the food inventive and delicious and the service good. I especially liked Mr. Maque (?) who kept an eye out for me. The grilled octopus was excellent and the broccoli rabe spread for the bread was so tasty. It is expensive, but a great way to relax with a glass of wine after enjoying the museum.
They have cut back on the bread selection. They used to put out a basket with rolls, cheese cracker, etc. we were served a plate with a roll for each and
A small piece of foccachio....I ordered salmon and the piece was less than an inch wide. When I commented to the waiter, he said”you’r e right”. My
Friend had a normal slice. It was good, it tiny.
Very slow service. Management fluttering around overlooking tables that needed service. For a restaurant space touting an elevated service to their cafe counterpart they unarguably delivered cafe quality service.
Beyond my expectations! Well worth the cost.
High end gourmet. This was a lovely break in between seeing the great art. I plan to eat here
Every time I come.
Beautiful setting located on the 4th floor of the Met. Great service, not rushed and very flavorful food.
Well done Met!!!
I have long loved this serene and special space with windows on Central Park. But on this visit with friends I found the food the best it has ever been. Then, aftere our meal, to be able to walk out into one of the greatest museums in the world and have a stroll through the galleries as a digestif, well, we could hardly have asked for more.
Terrific service as always. I found the first course a bit "precious" and small. Seared tuna for main was excellent. Thanks as always.
Pas de critique. Satisfait de la restauration, du service et du décor
The service was slow at best which looks to be from a very understaffed team servicing a huge area. All the workers were constantly moving and working but there was no checking in on if the order and items were correct. The staff tries to accommodate allergy issues but it is at the cost of a full meal. Given the cost, museum ticket included and location it's a bit unbeatable but there is completely room for improvement. The ambiance reminded me of my grandmother's nursing homes dining area with about half the folks there in that age bracket.
Our guests from out of town highly enjoyed the meal. I think most would rank it as 4-5 star cuisine if that are not familiar with the array of cuisine options in this area or a foodie.
It’s exactly what I expected from a “Trustees Dining Room”. Good food, but not excellent, beautiful setting, attentive service. Over priced. But considering the location, perfectly fine.
It felt like eating in an assisted living home. Food and service were good. Crowd was, uh, mature. ‘nuf said.
The water did not bring three of the food items we ordered. Also, this evening was a birthday dinner, which went unacknowledged by the restaurant.
This was my second time dining at the MMA. Their hospitality was EXCELLENT! Thank you to all of their staff. A family, friends of mine from Detroit enjoyed the restaurant atmosphere very much. We were surprised to be escorted to the table by the window. Fantastic! The only thing I was disappointed this time was that unfortunately the food wasn't as good as the last time. Maybe the chef of the night was different... However, my friends were very happy and excited about their hospitality. Special thanks to Emily! She remembered me from the previous visit. She is very kind. I'd like to come back soon with my local friend. Thank you.
The Restaurant on the 4th Floor is a quiet and relaxed room overlooking Cleopatra's Needle in Central Park.
The Obelisk is oldest man-made object in the park that arrived more than 130 yrs ago.
A great way to start our visit to the colossal and amazing Metropolitan Museum of Art.
We were greeted with smiles as we entered the restaurant. The wait staff was attentive and took care of all our needs.
We started to unwind with Bloody Mary cocktails. The Salad and Pate were perfect starters.
Farrotto with mushrooms and grilled Salmon for the second course were cooked to perfection. A slice of Key Lime Meringue Pie and Valhrona Chocolate Tart for desert were the right touch of sugar to end a meal.
Days later I am still thinking about the delicious Farrotto. We will return.
The service we received was unacceptable. It took more than 10 minutes for a waiter to even show up. It took more than 15 minutes for the entree plates to be removed and at least another 10 minutes for someone to bring the check. The food was fancy without being wonderful and the price for the three course lunch was very high, considering the level of service and the taste of the food. The room is lovely but it took over an hour and forty minutes to get through the meal. I would not recommend this restaurant nor return without major changes in how it is run.
Hard to beat -- delicious food in a peaceful and beautiful setting.
The chef’s tasting menu was still a summer menu . On a chilly evening in October gazpacho soup was not appealing, ditto for a watermelon salad.
Thank you for your feedback, which we have passed along to our culinary and management team. Our new Fall Menu launches in mid October! -The Dining Room Team
The location is great as is the room itself. Service was OK, food was good, but $27 burger that was nothing exceptional is a bit pricy.
Thank you for your feedback which we have passed along to our culinary and management team. - The Dining Room Team
The Tea Service in the afternoon sounds like a lovely way to go to the Patron’s Dining Room for a light and restorative bite.
Do Not Bother. Trust me. Go to one of the lovely old school hotels around the museum. Do your research.
The Dining Room is very dated, food seems to be served from an industrial school cafeteria kitchen, and the staff knows as much about tea as my Aunt Tillie, who is imaginary. No ambiance and no view. The Met should be embarrassed by opening this to the public to keep the cash flow up. They should quietly shutter it and mention it no more.
Outstanding as always. We have had multiple lunches there over the past few years and they have been consistently and uniformly excellent. We are eager to try them for dinner some time.
Thank you for your kind words and thank you for being such a loyal guest. We look forward to having you join us for dinner soon! The Dining Room Team
Food was excellent and the service was very attentive. Would definitely visit again.
We are thrilled you had such a nice great dining experience. We look forward to having you join us again soon. - The Dining Room Team
The Maitre'd sets the tone and I find they are always so gracious and welcoming. The woman (wish I remembered her name) even pointed out her favorite new dish that was recently created by the chef-we ordered it and she was spot on! The food, is always delectable. The servers always so professional and courteous. And, the view...well, you are looking at the Park with a thousand year old obelisk--you are at the MET surrounded by a wealth of history-what is not to like? Can't wait to go back.
Thank you for your kind words which we passed along to our host and entire team! We look forward to seeing you again soon! - The Dining Room Team
If you’re at the Met to see a show this is a great place to eat!
Thanks for the recommendation shout out and see you next time! - The Dining Room Team
Another fine meal with exceptional service provided by Luiz R.
Thank you for your kind words which we have passed along to Luiz and the entire team. See you next time! The Dining Room Team
We were greeted promptly and seated, but not where we had requested. Food deliciousand service attentive.
We are so glad you chose to dine with us and that you had such a nice experience. We apologize we could not accommodate your window seat request this time but we have noted it in your profile for next time! The Dining Room Team
Food is better than expected. Service was attentive but overly so and felt like it wasn’t a well trained or polished team...more like cater waiters who are now at a restaurant. Ambiance is reminiscent of an aging hotel lobby restaurant. So much more is possible with that space without the industrial strength carpeting, leatherette furniture and light wood trim that must have looked modern when the Golden Girls premiered on TV. Still we thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Met and enjoyed the food enough to go back again in the future.
Thank you for dining with us and while we are glad we exceeded your expectation in regard to the food we appreciate your decor and service comments. We have passed along your feedback to our management team and The Museum. The Dining Room Team
Had a wonderful birthday lunch for a cousin. Never disappoints!!!
Happy birthday! We are so happy you chose to celebrate with us. See you again next time! The Dining Room Team
Very good food at a reasonable price for quality in a grown-up environment (white tablecloths, proper table settings, easy conversation noise levels) — a difficult find in NY today. Service is well-meaning but less than well-oiled, in that servers are a little stiff and not easily found when needed.
Thank you for dining with us. We really appreciate your feedback and have passed along your comments to our management team to take into consideration. - The Dining Room Team
Going to a restaurant within the metropolitan museum of art is so beautiful and exciting. The food was superb and the staff was very nice and professional. The actual room was odd and not something I would want to go back to with all the restaurants of manhattan. It felt like we were eating in a nursing home dinning room. The decor is so dated and the chairs were the same as when I used to visit my grandmother in her Florida nursing home. This place could be something so exceptional because of the quality of the food and the fact that it’s in the museum. I hope a complete overhaul is done sooner rather than later because I would be thrilled to return.
Thank you for dining with us and we are so glad to hear you had such a nice experience. We appreciate your feedback on the decor and have passed along your comments to our team and The Museum. - The Dining Room Team
Always a lovely setting overlooking Central Park. Service is great and the noise level is low.
Thank you for dining with us! We look forward to seeing you again soon. -The Dining Room Team
The food was delicious and ambiance and service excellent also
They let us sit and visit which was lovely also
a very good place for lunch in New York
We are so glad you had such a great experience. See you soon! - The Dining Room Team
Too much pepper in the shrimp risotto. I would not order it again. Very nice room with good service. Pricey.
Thank you for dining with us and for your feedback which we have passed along to our Chef. Your comments really help us improve. - The Dining Room Team
The Met dining room is one of the very best restaurants in NY. They have an interesting and innovative menu. We were a table of four for lunch and we all raved about our dishes. First, the cheesy breadsticks are addictive with a pesto dip. The gazpacho was so delicious, the gruyere souffle was wonderful, as was the pappardelle dish. My husband had swordfish and he said it was cooked perfectly- moist, tender and flavorful. For dessert we had, molton lava cake, fig tart with lemoncello ice cream and the cookie tray. All were great but I wouldn't order the cookies again. It was a large portion and though very good, they were not anything special like the other desserts. The Met dining room is a very special place and I hope to come back soon.
Thank you! We are thrilled you had such an enjoyable dining experience. Join us again soon! - The Dining Room Team
The menu is limited but items are delicious! Make sure you have a reservation. One of the best hamburgers that I have ever eaten.
