The dining room at the MET has turned into an overpriced cafeteria. It's a shame.

The risotto with duck was very good. Our overall impression is that the food has improved under the new management

Elegant! Beautiful. Unfortunately the view out the large windows was too dark after sunset.

Very good foo da, beautiful setting, but very spotty, amateurish service.
Great experience walking through the empty Met in the way out!

I didn't find the food overpriced and it was a good meal. Relaxing and pleasant. Maybe the service was a little slow.

Lovely restaurant with very good to excellent service. The food was, as always, delicious. As a somewhat frequent visitor to the restaurant, I was surprised to find that they once again changed the menu. It is a pared-down version of my favorite menu - the one that was inspired by one of the Met's exhibitions each month. That menu offered a special preparation paired with a wine tasting that was always unique and provided me with an opportunity to try different wines with new and innovative and inspired dishes. That menu also always carried excellent "go-to" items and was broad enough to appeal to any pallete. Would I still recommend the restaurant? Without a doubt. It's still one of the best-hidden gems in the city.

Very nice location and great view. Perfect stop before the museum to plan out the exhibits to see. The menu is a bit limited, but the food was great

Delicious, elegant cuisine with a nice view of Central Park. However, service is average. Received soup without getting a spoon and had to flag-down a waiter to get one. Had my water glass refilled only once during the meal, even though many waiters passed by my empty glass. Had to flag-down a waiter to get our bill, even though it was clear that we were ending out meal after ordering coffee and no dessert. All of these issues are training and staff education issues that detract from what could have been an outstanding experience for my wife and I.

Always a pleasure to eat here. The food is great and the service phenomenal. It’s like every server in the room is waiting on you. And let’s not forget the view!

We made the reservation for Valentine’s Day - a special occasion which is the anniversary of our engagement.
The Dining Room was disappointing from the start. They were out of sparkling water and in addition, we tried to order a bottle of wine and they were sold out of 4 choices of ours. We were able to get our 5th choice. We find this to be unacceptable in a restaurant that is considered to be a fine dining experience. The Dining Room is the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art’s member only restaurant. As members of the museum, we were excited to go, but will most likely not go back.

I was extremely disappointed that the hostess would not seat us at a window table, despite my request online and the fact that there were several window tables that remained open the entire time we were dining. I have never had this problem before. When I arrived at the hostess desk I gave her my name and said I had requested a window table. She checked my name, picked up menus and guided us to a table. When she stopped in the middle of the restaurant, saying nothing and starting to seat us I again inquired about the window table and that there were several empty. She responded those are given in order reserved and you didn’t reserve early enough. I’m a long standing member at the Met and have eaten at the dining room before but won’t do so again. The hostess was abrupt, rude and dismissive. She ignored my inquiry when I checked in and then without a word directed us to our table. I chose not to make an issue because we were in the middle of the dining room, which I’m sure was done deliberately to prevent further discussion but I won’t be back.

I always enjoy dining at the Met. This was my first visit since they recently brought in new management. The dining options were quite similar to the past menu. Everything was excellent, particularly the halibut.

Such a nice quiet lunch with a beautiful view and the cobb salads were exceptionally good. I think they have the best creme brulet I have put in my mouth and we have an active search going on.

We enjoyed the restaurant a great deal. The location, overlooking Central Park, is great. The meal was delicious, with very good service. However, it is pricey.

Food and service were top shelf indeed! Never disappointed. I have, though, tried several times to secure a table next to the windows and never once successful. It appears they are exclusive? Also, I used my debit card and had to leave my table with our waiter to complete payment. It was extremely awkward to leave my guests and walk across the dining room to a small dark room where behind closed doors my debit card was processed. It was very uncomfortable. This has to be resolved. Thank you very much.

Did not have two items on the menu (which we desired) the busman reached in front of me to get an empty plate and spilled soiling the tablecloth. Didn’t stand up to my standard of “fine dining “.

What happened to the previous chef? This food has too many mixed tastes.
My fork was dirty and the food terrible! As the service. And too expensive for an awful lunch!

Very overpriced for what it is. But they have a captive audience. The food, service and ambience are good, but don't really warrant the prices.

Salmon was good.
The squash salad was a disappointment. The description sounded wonderful but the squash was ice cold (you could tell it had just been pulled from storage) and flavorless. The ricotta was bland too. For its price would have expected better.

They were out of sparkling water and many of the wines on list. Said waiting for order to be delivered but that should be managed better so stock does not get depleted.

Server nice but felt like they were rushed and felt bad they had to keep telling every table all they were out of.

The food was so good at The Dining Room in the past. I loved the MIddle Eastern flavors and interesting cooking styles. But the last two meals I had there were average at best and not inexpensive. They could use a new chef.

I reserved for lunch at 2:30. Only on arrival I was told there was no food, just cakes and very light items. Open Table did not inform the customer of this. I would have reserved for an earlier time. I had to leave. I had invited a guest and I was embarrassed that we then had to go looking for food at the MET. We ended in the Petri cafe, a low quality place. So I made a reservation for dinner at 7 just for myself at The Dining Room. The food was not great . I ordered the tasting menu with wine pairing. The only truly tasty items were the soup and the Tocay dessert drink.

Food was very good; ambiance lacked luster. Unless you are sitting at the window, you feel like you are sitting in a hotel meeting room. Somewhat ironic given the restaurant is located in one of the greatest museums in the world. For all the hype I read about the restaurant, I was expecting something more befitting of its locale.

Great way to spend lunch after a morning at the museum. The food was truly outstanding. Fresh and unexpected in all the best ways. The service was great too, until the end, when we were forgotten it seems, and could not get a check until we finally just stood up and started putting our jackets on.
The decor would use some updating. It's a little bit tired.
I loved the plates though.

This is a favorite place to bring visitors to NYC -- or just ourselves force treat. The food is always delicious and interesting, the service extremely welcoming and attentive, and the view out over the Park one of the best.
