The Metro Wine Bar & Bistro Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant is one of my personal favorites. The ambiance is terrific for two people, relatively quiet and very good for intimate conversation as would it be for more than two. The food has always been outstanding and cooked to perfection. The service as a general rule is subtle, respectful, and attentive. I felt slightly rushed with the last visit being on Valentine's Day, but it was still an above average experience and it will continue to be one of my favorite restaurants locally. Although it can get expensive depending on the wine selected, I highly recommend it and believe the value is worth it. May your experience also be positive and you enjoy it as much as I do.
We eat regularly at Metro, this time our steaks were overcooked and dry. But that is unusual, and our server took one of the steaks off our bill, without much our complaining much. She could see that the steaks were overdone. It was just an off night, usually great. Love the bread, the wine flights, the escargot, the service.
My husband took me here for our most recent date night/early Valentine's Day and it was stellar. The ambiance is so romantic with low lighting and cozy seating. The seating is close, but each seating area is intimate enough that we could easily hold a conversation at a comfortable volume without hearing the conversations of other tables. Our server was wonderful. She explained the specials and was attentive, but not hovering. She allowed us to enjoy our wine for a few minutes before ordering, which was lovely. It really allowed us to relax and feel very comfortable and not rushed.
Our meal was phenomenal. The bread served prior to the meal was fresh, tender, and had a very delicate flavor that led beautifully into the rest of the meal. We each had a caesar salad and the special which consisted of pepper crusted filet mignon, broccolini, and a scalloped truffle potato dish. The steak was so incredibly tender it simply melted in your mouth and was unbelievably flavorful. The broccolini were perfectly steamed and excellently seasoned and the potatoes were amazing. I really think the best part of the whole meal was the salad though. The dressing was perfect - freshly made, excellent flavor without being too overpowering, and just the right amount of dressing to give flavor without drowning the lettuce. I love that when we were offered fresh grated parmesan for our salads it was parmigiano reggiano and grated with a microplane. That was a wonderful touch. We asked our server to surprise us for desert. She brought us Vanilla Bean Pot de Crème for desert and it was incredible. The best combination of sweet creme, tangy raspberry, rich caramel, and velvety chocolate.
I would HAPPILY recommend the Metro to anyone for dinner, but especially if you're on a date or out for your anniversary. The romance of the restaurant is great and really sets the tone for an incredible meal. I've already requested that my husband take me back for our anniversary next month!
The Metro is one of our "go to" restaurants for those special occasions or a time with special friends. I am personally drawn to their cedar plank salmon....one of the best preparations of salmon I have experienced. Their wine list is great! And the service...always top notch and very consistent. We've been going there since 1984...and have never been disappointed. Get a reservation, though...this place is a neighborhood gem that usually fills up!
Great service from Jim and a great bargain for their Sunday supper! Three course meal for $28! Such a great deal is unheard of at higher end restaurants and I found this to be very refreshing.
I love they offer wine flights and we decided on the "Worldly Reds", which included one of my favorite Malbecs.
Before the meal began, the bring each diner a roll. Seriously, one of the best rolls ever! So much so, that I had to take one to go...I know, tacky, but so what! They're irresistible.
For my three course offering, I had a shaved brussels sprouts salad that was divine. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the mousse with baileys and mascarpone cream was rich and delicious. My friend dined on the lamb potstickers, crab cakes with a side of asparagus and she loved every bit of her meal.
I also love that The Metro is very quaint and quiet. Perfect for date night!
We love to eat at the Metro. The food is delicious and the ambiance is outstanding, We also really enjoyed our waiter Jim! He was so funny and just delightful. We will Desserts are great.
Sunday Supper is a great value too. Many more visits to Metro are in our future.
Having lunch at The Metro on 1/15 and 1/16 it was disappointing that the service has gotten so bad that we had to ask for lemons, rolls, butter, etc. not only twice but for one item 3 times! This restaurant has always been well known for it's quality food and superb service/wait staff and for it to not provide excellent service is unacceptable!
We have been coming to the Metro for many years. We count on the consistently excellent food and service. It is our go to place for any occasion. The atmosphere is conducive to conversation. It is a very comfortable place to relax and enjoy creative cooking.
Great restaurant. Possibly the best fillet I’ve ever eaten. Plus, with the atmosphere and the elegance of the restaurant the prices are very fair. I think I only paid $32 for $36 for my incredible fillet, Great mashed potatoes, and incredible green beans. I didn’t get an appetizer and was too full to eat dessert unfortunately. They’re also very kind to give you tastes of wine before you order a glass or bottle
We’ve been to The Metro several times for date night or special occasions. There has never been a bad night. Food is excellent and service is superb. We enjoy having Sarah ( Sara? ) as our server. She’s beyond warm, friendly and of the upmost excellence in service. Thank you for a great evening out.
The Metro never disappoints. Food is always good, and the service is friendly and attentive. WE went with a friend couple. I had the halibut special, which was excellent, two people in our party had the liver and onions and they liked it, and my friend had the filet mignon, perfectly cooked.
