The food we ordered was very good. However, my husband's meal was not even warm, let alone hot. The food took forever to be delivered and the wait staff was dismissive at best. The sodas we ordered were never delivered or even mentioned. The people who delivered the food, busers, we think, were attentive with water. We also observed people who had no reservation being seated before us, who did reserve ahead. Overall, while the Met, of course was wonderful, the Dining Room was a huge disappointment.

All three of my guests travelled to lunch in the dinning room..all three of us ordered from the menus.. mine was chicken It was cold and appeared to hv been prepared hours earlier, I could barely cut it with my fork, I ordered a drink which as I was finishing I had to ask our server for my drink.. service bad, food terrible, will never use it again.. I have travelled the world and restaurants in museums, they have been excellent, this was not my experience with The Mets dinning room!

Outstanding service and plenty of gluten-free options. The food was beautifully presented, and every bite was bursting with flavor. I’d absolutely return!

This is the perfect break between exhibits with great atmosphere, food and service! I wish they still had the hummus on menu that was my favorite but nice to see they change up menu!

Excellent food and lovely to have a quiet place to escape the crowds of the museum but service is a bit slower than it should be.

Never again- not worth the hassle. The problem with our experience was the security at the Met. Our party arrived and told the people at the door we had a reservation at the restaurant. Several security guards all treated us like we were trying to get away with something. We were all made to wait in the same security line as the crowds coming to visit the museum. After waiting 30 minutes outside in the rain, our son was turned away because he had his guitar with him. He had rushed straight from a music lesson to meet us on time. Once inside, minus our son, we were told we could not go upstairs without museum tickets. We had to speak to three different people in order to resolve this. Were we eventually served? Was the food any good? At that point it didn’t matter anymore to a group of cold, wet family members who just wanted to celebrate a special occasion. Instead we were treated miserably, like no real restaurant ever would do to their patrons, especially at that price point.

We recently had a day at the Met where we started with lunch at the Dining Room and then enjoyed the galleries after. We ordered a bottle of the Chablis, the tagliatelle, mushroom tart, flower salad and crab cakes and were stunned by how beautiful all the food was! The wine pared perfectly and was exactly the fuel we needed to have an amazing day wandering the galleries on a full stomach. Needless to say, day well spent! We can’t wait to come back again soon.

The food was fantastic. However, we were nowhere near the window so the view we were paying for was nonexistent at our table. Also, we ordered a bottle of expensive red wine. They brought it out with white glass glasses and then gaslit us when we asked for red wine glasses. “Those are red wine glasses.” Sure, for when I invite bubba and the kids around to drink boones farm. If you are going to sell nice wine, have nice glass and don’t be jerks when someone calls you on it. Between the bad service and poor view, despite the food being great, this place costs double what it should and is run by someone who doesn’t understand that. We will not be back. There are enough great restaurants in the area to not bother with this one.
