Absolute trash restaurant. Quite expensive with desultory service and, frankly, terrible food that the Met Museum should be ashamed to serve. The mushroom lasagne I received at lunch simply should not have been served for human consumption. The appearance of the over-microwaved glob swimming in grease should have alerted someone in the kitchen (if there is a kitchen) that something had gone wrong. And, to think, this lovely disaster set me back about $120 for two. Save your money and get a bite from one (any) of the food trucks in front of the museum.

Wonderful setting and a quiet dining experience -- just right for conversation. The food was fine, but nothing special, though the desserts were delicious. I would return because of the nice atmosphere and convenience when at the museum.

The restaurant is exceptional for its location. In the early evening, the room is washed with the soft sunlight of the sun setting over Central Park. However, the dining room’s interiors are spare of decoration and feel a bit forgotten — an irony given that it is in the world-class Metropolitan Museum of Art. Service is amicable but somewhat slow considering the number of staff and small number of tables. The food is very good, an interesting mix of plates — all well seasoned and presented.

Can't go wrong with this fine dining option in one of NYC's premier destinations. Cocktails are interesting and well prepared. The menu offers something for everyone and is executed very well. My bouillabaisse portion was a skimpy for the price - although wonderfully presented it was closer to a generous appetizer than entree. I was happy that my wife's perfectly prepared burger and fries were more than she could handle so I finished them off and was amply satiated. Get the cookie selection for desert. A wonderful assortment of small pastries, some maple bark and cookies. Delicious. We'll be back. No doubt

The service was so slow coming out of the kitchen, we never had time to eat our dessert (tasting menu). We had the same experience on Valentines Day at Dinner. Actually it was even worse. We waited 20 minutes for 2 cocktails, we received our appetizers before our cocktails. Fortunately the food is excellent, our server David (dinner) is a great ambassador.

Great spot . Furniture could be more upscale. As the restaurant closes at 9 pm , we were used towards the end , with a waiter attempting no less than 5 times to remove our unfinished plates starting at 8.30 pm Food was good . Not exceptional . The bouillabaisse was a small portion more adapted to an appetizer , while the tuna tartare which was an appetizer was fine. Bread selection is poor , only one white roll but a pleasant experience overall

Excellent unique food in a quiet setting. Service is attentive and prompt with a feeling of personality. Of course, such an experience comes at a price, but by New York standards not too hefty. Reservations far in advance might snag a table looking out over Central Park

My wife and I both ordered the same thing: tuna carpaccio (very good), schnitzel (not flavorful, the cabbage was over cooked and the greens were just there??), and the chocolate cake was ok - we didn’t realize it was a molten cake, and I had a coffee which was very good. The bill w/a tip was $199. Oh I had an IPA beer too and it was good. The server was attentive and friendly. And yes it was quite loud in almost a cafeteria atmosphere/lighting. So I would probably not recommend this restaurant to others.

The MET dining room is, in my opinion, among the top five fine dining establishments in New York. I feel like I'm in the first class dining room on an ocean liner of yesteryear. The lunch entrees can be expensive, but the kitchen is willing to allow sharing and that makes a salad and entree, some wine about $50 per person. Well worth it. I do believe there should be some sort of dress code. No tee tee shirts and shorts for the men for example. Check to backpack downstairs.

The worst food I've ever encountered. *OLD* food that should have been thrown out: *withered* greens, stale bread, soup that you would throw away if it came out of a can. Something is very wrong in the kitchen, and in management.
