Great evening, including a patron who was leaving as we arrived and spontaneously praised the food.

Genuinely love the experience that I had at the dining room. We were a little late and the hostess was able to accommodate us without any issues or hiccups. The food is very reasonably priced while still being delicious enough to be considered a fine dining. The views of Central Park from the floor to ceiling windows are to die for and if you can try to see if you can request to be sat next to the window for that experience, but no matter where you sit in the restaurant you are going to be impressed.

We have been here many times and the service is always slow but, on this visit, it was ridiculously so. First, we sat for at least ten minutes before our waiter arrived. He explained that he was in a meeting with the chef, going over that day’s menu but couldn’t they have done that before the dining room opened and customers were seated? Then, when our order failed to arrive after about 25 minutes and we asked about our food, no one really came to our table to explain the delay to us. Eventually, someone (the manager, but he didn’t introduce himself to us) stood a few feet from our table, motioned to us, and said “We’re working on your order and I’ve taken care of it.” We weren’t sure what he meant and he seemed a bit annoyed but he disappeared before we could ask questions. Our food arrived after about 40 minutes and our meals were comped and our waiter explained that there was a technical issue when he entered the order but by then we were frustrated by the lack of communication and the somewhat dismissive attitude of the management. We are museum members and have really enjoyed this venue in the past - the food is very good and the view is lovely - but don’t think we’ll be back, opting to dine in the Balcony Lounge instead.

I have always loved the Met Dining Room and took 2 friends from New Orleans on a recent visit. As I do, they loved the view (even though it was an overcast day!) As always the food was great -- my salmon omelette was light and fluffy. Friends said the copious portion of chicken salad was delicious.
