   The Mermaid Inn is closed (not only at this location, but apparently all NYC locations). I was surprised and disappointed that Open Table would offer and confirm a reservation at a restaurant that is not in operation. It now will be difficult for me to trust Open Table for a reservation at a restaurant that I do not know is actually open by recent personal experience.

   So happy the original has reopened. We have been going to Mermaid at Mcdougal and love it. Now we can go to 2nd Ave. The oysters are always fresh and delicious as are the clams. Always have at least 1dozen of each. Guy the manager, handsome bubbly and very attentive. Camilo the shucker, excellent!!! Ozzie our server was also attentive. Will be back soon

    I was a regular customer before the pandemic and so excited the East village location just reopened. This was my first time back, but also the first time I didn’t like the food. Completely bland, ate a little bit because I was hungry and left the rest. I will go back and hoping this was just a fluke occurrence because they just got up and running and the restaurant was packed. Also it was so loud my friend and I could barely hear each other.     We were so happy to see this place reopen, and it met or exceeded our expectations in every way. The food was fantastic, and the back garden (where we sat) is a wonderful hidden oasis in the city. We look forward to returning!

    Great to be back. I know things are getting up to speed but the service was very unpolished, rushed, sort of weird—plates came too fast and then were cleared aggressively before we finished our meals. It was not crowded or busy so I’m not sure why they were trying to turn the table in 45 minutes

    We are so thrilled to have mermaid back in the neighborhood!!! The food continues to be excellent, service, vibe, etc. the only thing that has me SHOOK - is the change to the lobster roll bun! We miss the springy, fresh roll. The new one is a bit too dry and the bread to lobster ratio is not as perfect as the OG. But aside from that we are so so happy for mermaid’s return and thrilled for it to be our local again!

    I was so happy to see that the Mermaid Inn was back in the East Village. We tried a variety of things and everything was great. Wedge salad as a starter YUM, followed by blackened shrimp (an appetizer but I ate as my main)---really delicious. They should consider making an entree size available. My husband had simply grilled fish...fresh and yummy and of course we had to try to the hush puppies and the Old Bay rolls. A+ across the board! Our server was attentive and for those of you who remember the Mermaid Inn from before it closed..YES! They still give you the little cup of chocolate pudding. A treat! Be aware when you are making your reservation that the "cafe" is seating outside by the street. I thought that meant inside but thankfully there were indoor tables available.

    We made it in time to take advantage of the extensive happy hour menu and $1.25 oysters. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly from the calamari tuna tar tar to the mahi mahi. We'll definitely go back to take advantage of the happy hour menu.

    Cozy on a cold rainy night. Wonderful oysters from VA. Blackened mahi, crab cake, fries and of course the demitasse of chocolate pudding made for a near perfect dining.

    Was very excited to try this as I love seafood. Hush puppies to start which we’re very good. All other food was pretty bad. I got the salmon which had no flavor, and looked like it was just thrown on a plate. The service was not great either. Would not recommend, and will not go back.

    Always, always, always the perfect spot. Great for a family dinner, great with friends, and great for pre-show drinks and snacks with a date. Extra "yaas" for Monday all-night Happy Hour.

    We sat in the 3 season porch which was cold. They had some space heaters that didn’t quite reach the middle. The scallops were great but the butternut squash drizzle was cold - I think they put it on the plate too early as a garnish. Service was amazing from the door staff all the way through. Trendy and funky I really liked it

    Overall I had a very nice time, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food tasted good and came out pretty quick. If there was anything I would change it would be minor things about the food I ordered. I ordered the blackened Mahi mahi as an entree and an additional side of Mac and cheese. The mahi mahi was delicious but there wasnt much to the dish. It came with a small piece of cornbread, some pico and a creme sauce. I feel like the cornbread could have been bigger or another component could have been added to the dish like another veggie or potato. If I didn’t order the side of Mac and cheese I would definitely be hungry. And the Mac and cheese could use sharper cheese it was missing some flavor.

    Great menu options for happy hour. Lengthy bar can fit a number of people if you don't have a reservation but definitely recommend making one as it's busy!
