The wait staff handled the Covid 19 restrictions well.
The noise level was higher than expected for so few diners due to a very loud group in the next booth. Made if difficult to talk. Otherwise great meal and experience.
Seagal was our server and she was incredible! We felt super safe with the practices they put into play. The service, food, value was awesome. Their drinks are amazing! The food came out perfectly hot and delicious, we will absolutely be back!
One of our favorites. Fresh ingredients and always well prepared. Service is excellent.
Still trying to get into a groove after the lock down. Interior is bare bones and the food was good, but not creative. The staff is working hard to please.
Wonderful as usual. Felt very comfortable with all of the safeguards in place. Seagal is a fantastic server and always goes above and beyond... a real credit to The Mercer team. The food was excellent from top to bottom with highlights being the tomato bisque, haricots vert and chocolate honey bourbon cake. Kudos all around!
as always the mercer doesn't disappoint ... the staff and food are always good as is the lady that manages it ..
Had an amazing time for our friend’s 40th birthday. Food and service was on point the whole night. Our server Leigh-Ann (I’m pretty sure that was her name) was knowledgeable of the menu, guided our experience perfectly, and was so nice and accommodating. We will be back as soon as we can.
Very pleasurable evening!
We had a lovely, leisurely dinner with dear friends.
What a wonderful first time experience! My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with the fresh food choices and ambience. My husband enjoyed the house made pasta and I enjoyed the wild salmon and leeks minus the cream sauce. My order came out wrong but they immediately took it back and my correct order came out in under 10 minutes and it was amazingly delicious and perfect. We also shared the side of the sautéed broccoli which was delicious.
Night out for dinner and a concert for our anniversary. First time at The Mercer although regularly dine out and enjoy many OTR and other food establishments. We had a reservation for a bar table, which worked out well, but our service was poor and dining experience fragmented because of it. We were told we could enjoy dinner and same service at a bar table vs dining room so took it. No time for dessert or additional drinks because of delays from our waiter. At one point both myself and my partner went to the bar and asked for service and still delayed getting to us. Dinner/food was perfect and tasted great but feels over priced even for upscale dining; a single scallop for an appetizer is $15 so two of those cost us $30, which seems excessive. Everything was beautifully prepared and tasted great but just problems with timing, service and cost. I wouldn't go out of my way to return. I'd rather go to other upscale favorites.
Food was very good, ambiance very nice, have eaten here before and service always good. Had a new waiter and service was very slow and never checked up on us, ordered drinks , then waiter never came back to ask if we wanted another, had to waive him down to get check. Will go back but need to improve service
As a place for a pre Music Hall dinner they are outstanding. The new chef is doing really good things.
Service was wonderful and the food outstanding; wonderful experience!
I had one of the best burgers in recent memory.
I had my birthday party there. Group of eight. Wonderful, delightful service. Excellent fare.
Food was very good, so was the service. No complaints.
The chicken was extremely bland. No real flavor to it. The waitress was very nice. Value for the money was not there at all.
Fried artichokes are great. . . . as is the service, atmosphere, and the people-watching through windows.
I count on The Mercer for fabulous food, and warm, efficient service. It’s my OTR favorite.
Once again, dinner and dessert and service were outstanding. The cream based cauliflower soup with roasted cauliflower and garlic was off the charts delicious. We had the fish with sorrel cream, leeks and (real potato) potato chips and beef tenderloin with herb pan sauce, radishes, mushrooms. both were cooked to perfection and popped with flavor. We really enjoyed the chocolate cake (not your average chocolate cake either) and the vegan chocolate dessert too. Don't see vegan options often and when you do they are meh. This was good! My cocktail was yummy to. They have such a fun bar area. Chef here knows his stuff!
Food is always good although tonight a bit too spicy on the squid ink pasta. Staff knowledgeable and attentive.
This is one of our family’s favorite restaurants. The ambiance, food and service is top notch every single time.
Phenomenal place for a birthday dinner. Amazing service and great food!
We wanted to sit in a booth and were told that none were available. The Restaurant was basically empty, but I thought maybe guest are coming, but they never did during the whole time we ate for about 1.5 hrs. We ordered the steak, it was average steak, no salad or bread included for 91,- we only went because I had a gift card, but the experience makes me not wanna come back.
Everything perfect! The salmon is out of this world!
Food was excellent, service was very good, it did take a while to get our drink order in. The Brussel sprouts were charred but they seemed more burned to a crisp, however still had flavor. The side came after I was halfway through my meal. But these were minor compared to the excellent server and her willingness to guide us and suggest. My friend’s short ribs were amazing as was my gnudi. We really enjoyed the bar seating, too, really fun!
Pasta bolognese was amazing.
Food was great, the wine was half off and our server Leann was absolutely fantastic and really made the whole experience perfect for us. We really enjoyed our valentines date here.
Nice atmosphere but could be improved with tablecloths. I Feel that way about almost all restaurants!
Entrees were a bit pricey especially since the portion size did not match the price. Though not an entree the Caesar salad was very small.
Amazing and unique food prepared perfectly.
Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.
We had an excellent dinner, one of the best ones I have had in years. Looking forward to going there again.
Good food, some great. Excellent and friendly service. Clean.
We took our younger niece to the Mercer before attending the Lion King at the Aronoff Theatre. The atmosphere was calm and inviting. The table spacing gave us plenty of room to visit, which only added to the experience.
We wanted to maximize opportunity so we decided to purchase multiple items from the menu and share. I do love meat, so the Mercer burger and braised short ribs were quite satisfying. That being said, I would come back just for the salmon. Now that I have been exposed to sorrel cream sauce, I will definitely make this my first choice. It was delightful. We added mocktails, wine, and multiple desserts to top off our evening. Try the Butterscotch dessert. We fought over who would finish it.
Well done Mercer! We will be back!
Always good. Inventive and tasty cocktails. Tenderloin was excellent. The squid ink spaghetti was pretty good, but the risotto is so good I wouldn’t order it again. The stone fruit salad was terrific.
Service was exceptional. People watching along Vine creates a fun ambiance all in itself.
As a first time dinner with friends looking for a nice late night dinner we received a pathetic level of service. Service was absent and not pleasant. Food was okay, we enjoyed the atmosphere with opening windows and dim lighting. I called the next day to let management know our experience and was met with total disinterested and passive attitude toward collecting or rectifying our service experience.
We have been to The Mercer several times and have always enjoyed it. We had bragged about it to our friends before we went and wouldn’t you know this was the first time we were disappointed. It took awhile before we could order, the kitchen was out of one of our chosen entrees and it took forever to get our food. We rarely complain but my husband did have to say something. There was very little in the way of an explanation although they did comp one of our desserts. By then we were frustrated and embarrassed that we had raves about it to our friends. I’m sure it was an off night but we won’t be rushing back anytime soon.
Excellent service. Most of us enjoyed our food. However, the duck was overcooked and the tenderloin, while good, was not worth $39.
I really enjoyed my dinner at The Mercer. The service was excellent and the food was tasty. It was however missing that wow factor which would have earned it 5 stars. I tried the prix fix menu whIch honestly was too much food.
First course was the grilled fruit. This was a bit disappointing, too much arugula and too little fruit. Then, it took an upswing with the Pappardelle. So amazing!! Then, the duck which was also very tasty. My only let down was that I was so stuffed I had no room for dessert!!
Always great food and service. Food portions are just the right amount. Some evening we will come in just for the 4 layer decadent Chocolate cake. It looks amazing. If you haven't been you need to check it out and convenient parking garage next door.
