The Mercer OTR
Always enjoy The Mercer before the theater.
Our family went to Mercer for my wife’s birthday. Everything excellent. I split the porterhouse and a fettuccine with clams with my son and daughter. Both outstanding. It is a bit expensive, but was worth it for a special occasion. Service was also great.
The service was very good. The food was delicious!
My second time having a multiple course meal here. Everything is always so delicious and the service is top notch. Very quiet and the atmosphere is so relaxing.
Great food and ambience but service was lacking and the manager was very rude
Started with a Caesar salad, bruschetta, and scallops which were all amazing. The best bites of food you will have. The wine selection was amazing, we got the red blend special which was well priced. The risotto was outstanding and had a lot of flavor between the sweet from the fig and salty from the pork. The Porte de Creme was light and silky with a rich dark chocolate taste. The staff were very friendly and cared to all of our needs. The decor is modern European and the noise was fair, easy to talk to one another. We will be back!
We went for Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week. The food was amazing, and the service was great. It was our first time there, but we will definitely go back.
Perfect dining experience. Fantastic service and amazing cuisine
Top notch service all around, especially Matthew at the bar. Food was amazing, especially the beef tenderloin.
Lizzie was terrific!
Went for Restaurant Week. First visit. Service was superb, food was excellent..the pineapple and sorbet dessert was refreshingly light.
First time for the four of us and the meal, ambience and service was great!
Thanks so much !
The best restaurant in all OTR, and one of best in the city! Amazing food & presentation, impeccable service, and good value.
Excellent service and dinner.
Sunday dinner with son and his lady friend. Perfect place, low key, food excellent, service the best (thanks Lizzie)
Great place to eat after Sunday afternoon symphony concerts. Especially interesting cocktails.
Excellent food. The seafood bouillabaisse was amazing. Saucy, more seafood than you can imagine. The bread was perfect. Great service. A nice surprise and fun meal
Our 4th or 5th time at The Mercer. Each dinner has been excellent - prepared well and presented well.
We also appreciate the sound level for our aging ears.
Great ambiance and the food was delicious. Almost everything we ordered was tasty—I love Brussels sprouts but am not a big vinegar fan so I did not really care for them but a friend of mine liked the string balsamic vinegar dressing on them. The risotto was the bomb as was everything else our table ordered. Definitely will return!
Our servers were fantastic and I felt sort of guilty that we were four people eating so lightly, since I wanted a reason to leave a bigger tip than my business budget allowed! The food was delicious and varied, including for my vegan colleague, cocktail and mocktail were original and excellent. One of our guests was a little concerned about the sexed-up names of cocktails at a business dinner, and that might be reason enough not to go back for a business dinner, but otherwise this was an evening of great food and drinks, and stellar service.
My wife and I went The Mercer OTR for our 3 year anniversary. From start to finish this was a 5 star experience.
We were greeted at the hostess stand by a very inviting, hip, and romantic ambiance. The hostess was expecting our arrival and we were seated promptly. Our server Jeremy was an absolute delight and the GM Emmy Dee made occasional stops at our table making us feel valued as clients.
We ended up ordering 4 courses along with a cocktail each.
Cheese plate app- expertly paired board. I particularly enjoyed the pickled shallots combined with, mustard, and a mild blue cheese (not sure what the cheese was called)
Gnocchi - PHENOMENAL every bite was absolutely amazing. Order this.
Halibut over couscous - Hearty and delicious - the mild tang of the tomatoes was very welcome when paired with the more earthy flavors of the fish.
Prime Rib - Salivating just thinking about it - melts in your mouth and again perfect accompaniments elevating the dish -master class preparation and detail
I ordered the "old fashion bondage" as my cocktail. Best old fashion I've ever had. Again the attention to detail here is phenomenal. I believe my icecube was even infused with cloves or something of that nature. Really great.
My wife ordered an apple cider Brandy (cannot remember the name of the cocktail) also amazing!
After drinks and and all our bill rang in at roughly $150 which is more than fair for the meal and experience.
10/10 would recommend!
We were celebrating my cousin’s new job. Great bottle of wine helped in that celebration! Emmie was Very knowledgeable about the various wines. Our waitress who was an actress at one time was exceptional.
Very friendly staff and attentive service. Great food, the Cioppnio was out of this world!
Oh my! Everything was excellent! Great food and service. My husband and I shared several small plates before our main course. Everything was delicious and the signature cocktails are fantastic. We will definitely come again when in the area.
Server could have been more attentive
Amazing service. Very accommodating to groups going to shows. Only disappointment was that the menu had changed from what was online.
Ordered $90 porter house and it's very average. Sadly the server tossed out the bone. Had meat left on and we wanted it. Never asked if we wanted to take it just assumed. Honesly Longhorn has a better porter house for a third of the price.
First time at the Mercer. Outstanding server (Dragon?). The food was quite good and the ambiance was a little "bare". Noise level was acceptable, but the place was not very full (stormy night). It looks like it could be very noisy with a full house because of a lot of hard surfaces. We were with a group of friends who had some catching up to do and had no problem hearing the conversation across our booth. And we stayed awhile after finishing the meal to continue catching up, with no problem. Will definitely go back, particularly on Ensemble Theater nights.
Excellent dining experience! All the staff were extremely helpful and they were very careful with my special dietary needs! Delightful pre-Cincinnati Pops dinner!
The most solid restaurant in Cincinnati. Food & service are always on point.
Excellent food, with prices on the higher side. Service was also friendly and good. But the tables by the kitchen should be avoided, unless you like constant traffic and servers and customers going to the restrooms.
Leave enough time to park on nights when there is a Music Hall event... you can find a place but it may take some time. But you can also Valet park for $10.
Patrick, Thank you for the feedback. When you make your next reservation, feel free to leave us a little note and we will try to seat you closer to the front of the restaurant. We do usually need a few days' notice to process seating requests as once the night is started, our floor plan is pretty set in stone. We really appreciate the kind words about the food and service. Cheers! Emmy
Service was a little slow at the beginning, however, we were early so we didn't mind. Overall good experience, good food, our server was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations. This is a good place to go with friends.
Fried Artichokes were to DIE for. The service in the bar area is always top notch and fast. We were able to get to a show ontime with a full dinner yet never felt rushed. Our staff was effortless in accommodating and the food is always on the mark here. Always one of our go-tos when we are in the neighborhood or going to an event.
Overall really good. Will definitely go back
We had a very lovely dinner on Friday night. We selected a quiet table near the window. Server was very helpful and answered our questions about the menu. Food was very fresh, and delicious. We'll definitely go back.
This place just keeps getting better. Everything was fantastic, and the gnocchi and risotto were brilliant. We’re looking forward to getting back very soon.
We dined at The Mercer for the first time Sunday before going to the Aronoff. The server asked what time we needed to leave for the performance, and she made sure we were finished ten minutes before our deadline. The service was excellent. The bread arrived with the salad instead of by itself, which we appreciated. We also took advantage of a 3-course prix fixe dinner feature, which was a good value. The food was very good, and presented nicely. Overall, it is a restaurant that we will continue to frequent.
The service definitely rates 5 stars —not to be sneezed at since my dining experience in good restaurants around Cincinnati is that the service is not good. I liked the room itself and ambiance so 5 stars for that, too. The food I ordered was well prepared and good, but I found the menu choices overall too limited or maybe just too similar. The small plates menu looked very good but the second and third courses were not appealing for that reason. The desserts seemed very pedestrian. That menu could be limited but what’s offered must show real choices.
Our party of 7 had impeccable service. We were well attended to and made to feel welcome and special. Our food was wonderful and across our party we sampled many of the items on the menu the stand-out favorite was the risotto which was spectacular and the salads-seriously!
