The Melting Pot - Wilmington DE Ratings and Reviews
We had a new server and was a little upset that when she spilled our $20 daiquiri on us that she didn’t refund nor did she bring a new one she let it sit on the table. There was also a 16th birthday party and they were extremely loud. Our reservation was for 7pm and in a restaurant like this, the staff should have done something about it.
Very disappointed they had to remake our cheese fondue because there was hair in it and then the second pot they over did the garlic and it was all you could taste. Once we got to the meat course the broth used to cook in was way over seasoned that all you tasted was seasoning the meat flavor was lost. The only good part of our meal was the chocolate fondue which was amazing. They did compensate us slightly by taking $50 off our check but our dinner still cost us over $150 for something that was horrible and very disappointing on our anniversary.
Fun atmosphere for a date night. Lighting is nicely done: it's not overly bright but light enough to always see what you're cooking. The decor and lighting creates a nice evening ambience. Love that you are not pressured to get in, dine, and get out. On the contrary, the experience takes time and enjoying is the point. I had a four course meal and was there for over two hours. The food is quality and well portioned between fondue and dippers. The dipping selection with my cheese was a little strangely paired (apples and raw veggies), but the bread varieties are good. The meats are delicious and the desert selections are well varied. I do wish you could cook more meat at once - two skewers and 1-2.5 minutes per piece is a bit tedious. The servers are out of necessity coming and going with courses a lot, but it doesn't feel overly intrusive. The staff here were great: friendly and wanted you to have a nice experience. They also have a bit more hands on work than your typical server, since they have to be knowledgeable about how to cook different foods, temperatures, how to operate the stovetop... Makes you appreciate their contribution to your dining experience. The cost is barely more than you would spend at any nice restaurant, but the experience is unique.
This was for my wife’s birthday dinner. Ask specially asked for a nice private booth to enjoy our night out. We were placed in a smaller the normal table in the corner that had an overly brigh table light shining in your face. The waitess said yeah this light is a common problem and tried to dim it but couldn’t because the entire section had to be dimmed as well. It was busy although we we seated at 7:35. We received our first drink at 8:45. An hour and ten minute no food or bread, nothing for 1:10 minutes. After that. The food was ok and were told if we order the 4 course meal it is better but we didn’t even need the salads. Waitress, don’t worry I’ll order it to go for you and you can take it home. Never brought our salads out with the bill and left with no salads. Overall, food was avaerage at best, wine menu sub par and they had 3 or 4 good beers to choose from but the service was horrible. I would not recommend this place and won’t be going be going back.
We met for a birthday dinner and had such a nice time. Our waiter was awesome - very attentive and also funny. They had some specials that were great, and our waiter had some great suggestions for us as well. The pacing of the meal was wonderful - especially for a nice night out when you don't want to feel rushed. Everything was wonderful, the prices are really reasonable for what you're getting, and we had a great time. We'll definitely be back soon.
We use to come here on a regular basis but it has been a little while since our last time dining here. Food is still great but it has become more loud and casual. Not really the place for romantic night out anymore. Several loud kids groups late Friday night. Still a fun dining experience, though.
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. Tabitha was an excellent hostess. She ensured everything was set just right. She was timely with our courses and explained everything very well.
Even though we were set up in a somewhat “cozy” booth a family of about five were eventually seated next to us taking some of the quietness out of the evening. Ito a point I understand due to the layout of the restaurant; however, I would have thought the rest of the staff would take our occasion into consideration.
Regardless, the food was excellent and the table was prepared the way it is described on their website. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and return.
Just got dessert, which I had mentioned before arriving via this app. The service wasn’t great, I ordered a martini which I never got and didn’t see the server to ask for it until we were basically finished the chocolate which by then, didn’t want it anymore. I don’t know if they were understaffed or they just sat us right after the server had gotten a table but it wasn’t up to the quality of service that we normally receive when going there for dinner or just going for dessert. Being a sever, I’m not upset for my drink being forgotten but if I were the server I would be a little bit more apologetic about it. We aren’t moochers so we didn’t want anything for free it just didn’t seem like the server cared very much about it. From what I learned about incredible customer service is that it’s important for the customer to be heard. They just want validation. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth. But not literally because the food and chocolate is always great.
We went to The Melting Pot for my daughter's 18th birthday. The manager was more than accommodating to my family. Our waitress was great, she offered us options and explained each dish carefully and made suggestions! The bus boys kept our waters filled and even gave us a few good laughs. The entire staff at The Melting Pot made this night memorable and I couldn't thank them enough!
Repeat customer, food is almost always amazing, fairly new pretzel bites a great addition. Service was far below what we are used to, never received a request or refill of our water for the entire dinner. Waited over 10 minutes for our take home food and specifically asked for some sauce to go home and when I opened the food for my leftover meal, I learned that the sauce was not even provided.
There were 3 of us for dinner and it took 3 hours. Way too long. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable but absent. Basic mistakes were made. And since they just starting to use a new point of sale system, our bill wasn't accurate. We waited for some time while the Manager tried to figure it out. Eventually, we only paid for the amount that was charged, far less then what it should have been. From that perspective, their customer service was excellent. But I would not want to go back. Not worth the money for the food or service received.
Went here the other night for my boyfriend's birthday. We made a reservation but got there a little early, we were seated immediately. There was a loud party of 14 going on, but we didn't mind, it wasn't too distracting for us. Our waiter, Zach, was possibly the coolest and most attentive waiter we could have had - the big party had him running around a lot but once things died down, he chatted with us a bit and was one of the best customer service experiences either of us has had.
Almost everything on the menu has a gluten free option (grateful celiac, here) including a couple of GF beers. The drinks were good too, I had a peach cosmo that was absolutely delicious. The food options are vast, we didn't know where to start, but we finally ended up getting the four-course option which was stellar. Price point is a bit high, but for a nice occasion, it's a lovely and unique dining experience.
One thing to keep in mind is that you do have to cook your own food at the table - I was unaware of this aspect, and while it wouldn't deter me (it truly was delicious), I just wasn't expecting it.
