The Melting Pot - Edmonton
My biggest complaint is they never have the wines listed on the wine list. We go 3-4 times per year and it is always the same. We had to wait for the second bottle to be chilled, they did give us a free drink between.
They were very accommodating to our change in numbers of guests. The food is always amazing. The staff was incredible. The lighting is poor for photos, but great ambience.
When we made a reservation we were told to expect about 2 hours and 15 minutes. We were almost there 4 hours, - we waited for everything. From the introduction to our server, to paying the bill, we had some kind of a wait time.
I think the table next to us said something too because they were there as long as we were, and our server apologized to us before we could say anything. Sure would have been nice to have been offered something to compensate, but that didn't happen. Too bad, it was my son's birthday he'd like to go back, but it won't happen very soon.
DO NOT BOOK FOR MORE THAN A PARTY OF 6. We had a large party of nine for a celebratory dinner and reunion on Easter weekend. The table set up for more than 6 is very poor. We had a long narrow booth and it was impossible to hear over the noise and have conversations with our other guests. I also found this time the menu wasn’t explained well, the server had to run around a barrier to get to one end to the table to the other to explain or hear anything and this lessened the experience. Refills of dippers did not come as requested. This is not a place to be left alone with the menu to make your own choices.
I did go, immediately, to the front desk to ask about any other options for seating and was told that their circular tables are for groups of six and there were a couple other options but they were already taken. I had booked for the nine of us in January 3 months previous to our event.
While the uniqueness of the dining experience and the quality of food is great I want to be able to visit with the people I came with and be able to hear conversations when I’m going to spend over $500 which is what this cost. It was very disappointing overall.
We have been here once before with a party of three and have the most wonderful experience with a very attentive server.
Omg so good
Server was amazing. Food was tasty, but not worth the price. Ambience was lacking most. It was too dark and extremely noisy. Not an ideal choice for a date night, but as a general night out it was good. Would return, but not often at that price.
Overall we did not have a good experience. We waited 25 minutes to be sat, despite having a reservation. Once seated, we waited quite a while for our server to come to our table. During the ordering experience, it became very clear to us that our server was new and inexperienced as we had to repeat our order several times. Our drinks came, the bottle of wine was incorrect and both the wine glasses and beer glass were visibly dirty. Again, it took upwards of 10 minutes to get clean glasses. When the cheese fondue was brought to our table, all of the bread looked like it had a pink drink spilled on it as the pieces were soggy and wet with pink liquid. After pointing this out to our server, he brought us new bread. The server brought our meat course and said the oil was ready, but it was clearly not hot enough as our meat was not cooking. The server came back and brought us a new pot of oil. He turned the temperature much higher than what was needed, so when we cooked the meat, it came out black after a few seconds of being in the oil. The oil was splattering on the table. We brought this up with our server and he seemed unsure of how to fix this, so brought us yet another pot of oil. The server brought replacement meat for the pieces that were burnt, and brought the incorrect meat. We spoke to the manager regarding our numerous concerns, and were compensated with 3 complimentary strawberries. The entire dinner took 4 hours, much longer than we had planned for. We come to The Melting Pot regularly, and have never had this kind of experience. The server was obviously new and not properly trained. For a dining experience that costed over $200, I am surprised we were not compensated more. Not something to be expected for a classy, expensive dining experience.
We loved our experience at The Melting Pot. Great meal with plenty of food and our girls (aged 3 and 5) really enjoyed it as well.
So, where to start?!
Reservations at 8:30 on a Monday night. Get there and get seated right away, good start. Cheese came fairly quick, first round of drinks came out, and then it goes down hill from there. We waited 45 minutes after we were done with cheese for it to be cleared, and then it still wasn't from our waiter (who completed disappeared). The cheese was waiting for so long it was burnt and hard. We asked for more drinks and waited for our salads and soup. Salads came out about 10 minutes later with no soup. About 10 minutes after that out waiter finally appears and notices no soup. Apologizes and says soup will be out right away. Meanwhile we see our drinks sitting at the bar, made, but not being served. Once soup comes out we ask if we can have our drinks that have been sitting at the bar for 15 minutes. Salad and soup, great. About half hour after we finally get our entree! Great! All goes well, food was good, no issues! So about 20 minutes after we are done with entree our chocolate comes out. Great! Nope, cold chocolate! We suck it up and continue, at this point we just wanna go home. Meanwhile the restaurant has already closed. Waiter appears and asks if we want anything else, nope, bills please! Oh about 15 minutes later the bill arrives, keep in mind restaurant has been closed for atleast a half hour by now and not only customers but employees have depleted! So not only was one bill wrong, but all 3. Of course he left us and once he returned we had to point this out. Apologies and off he goes with all bills to correct mistake, 10 minutes later he returns! Finally!!! The end is in sight! We pay and quickly get on our way, never to return again!!
Our server (candace?, i cannot remember and it started with a C). Made our night! She went above and beyond to ensure my boyfriends birthday dinner was everything we hoped for and more. She ensured we got the table we wanted, took the time to explain the menu options. She did a custom wine paring flight based on our likes and dislikes. The whole evening was made wonderful because of her attention to detail. I hope next time I am back i have her as a server again as she made the experience!
The food was fantastic and the service was great. One of my most favourite places to go when we are in Edmonton.
Overall it was awesome
The food is amazing and the service was excellent. Meal takes just over 2 hours to enjoy, I don't know if a full set of courses could go any faster than that. Ambiance is nice, if just really dark, it actually almost made it difficult to see some things with the very low lighting. Pricey, looking to spend at minimum $50 a person without drink, more likely $60-75. But delicious and an overall experience, definitely a special occasion or fancy date night worth doing.
Great experience, staff was amazing and the food fantastic.
We had a wonderful time! Food was amazing and service was excellent. We will definitely be back!
Our server was AMAZING! I have never had such good service at this place! He went above and beyond to make my dinner good. I would go back and ask to sit in his section. He was the best!
Absolutely-this was a great meal, with excellent service
It was an interesting experience. We were sat by the bar, with children, and the ambience could have been nicer had we been placed inside the restaurant further. The cheese fondue was ok, could have used a bit of seasoning. The dessert fondue was outstanding, enjoyed that quite a bit, The main course was in the house broth and I personally had issue with boiled meat. I didn't enjoy it. Drinks were good, service great. Quite an expensive dining experience for what you get.
Our server didnt understand the extremely complicated pricing of the menu, so we ended up getting a pricier meal than we might otherwise have ordered. We had a four course meal (cheese, entre, and dessert fondue as well as a salad), and it took about an hour before we were served our first course and another forty-five minutes before we got our second. We were at the restaurant for close to 3 hours, and the majority of that time was spent waiting for food.
Very neat thing to experience. Great date night. Atmosphere was very relaxed and intimate.
It was intimate and fantastic!
We really enjoyed our first visit. The service was excellent and she did a fabulous job of explaining everything and made excellent recommendations.
We have been many times to this location. We found the service slow and we were there for over 3 hours because it was slow. No wines to choose from and they brought the wrong beer. This was not as enjoyable as other times and took too long and our server never checked up on us very much. People came in after us and were serverd quicker and left before us. Not cause we were taking our time because we never had the server come to us as frequently.
We have been here many times and have always had an excellent evening. Tonight however was very poor. And it was due to very poor service as well.as kitchen issues.
I will be back, overall this is a great restaurant but this particular visit was incredibly sub-standard
Unreal experience. Will recommend to everyone thank you
Great night out, very accomadating and I like that they bring extra dippers to finish your fondue.
We were seated at our table for 30 min before we were acknowledged and this was only after I called the restaurant to remind them we are seated in the restaurant.
It’s an experience for everyone to take in at least once. The restaurant itself seemed very disorganized. Reservation seating was late. Birthday party balloons I had to remind them. We never received our picture with the pkg. Very minimal drink service. 3 hours and we were served drinks twice. Having two servers for our party we should have had better service. Overall it was a very bad experience this time
The environment was very intimate and fun! The service was amazing, picked a bottle of wine that unfortunately they didn’t have but our server brought a different bottle of similar wine and said they would price match it to the one we chose. It is a little expensive but worth the money for the experience and delicious food. Would definitely recommend for a special anniversary night or birthday.
Not worth the money for greasy food, way too loud and the server was less than attentive.
Far too expensive for the quality of the food. The service was poor, there was confusion over drink orders and long lapses in between courses.
Service was excellent
Food was not fresh veggies and not fresh bread
Delicious food and the staff are absolutely wonderful!
Always a lovely experience going to the Melting Pot for a special occasion. The experience lends to an evening of socializing with good food. Overall, this time, our service was quite slow. The food was very good, with delicious flavours. One recommendation would be to use fresh veggies and fruit as opposed to pre-cut, packaged. The price is such that it lends to a everything being freshly cut.
We had an amazing experience. My only comment is that it was pretty dark where we were sitting and it made it difficult to read the menu. Totally worth every penny though.
Wonderful 1st time experience, great food and really cozy and romantic down lovers lane .
My reservation requested a very quiet area...this was very disappointing because we were seated in an extremely loud and busy area. Otherwise everything else was great! Our server was outstanding!
The food and the service was fantastic!! This was our fourth time visiting and every single time it’s been an amazing experience.
Got to go ! Amazing experience - like nothing we expected - even better.
We are already planning our next visit.
I’m a frequent customer at the Melting pot. I went 4 times all together in March due to the Endless fondue offer. I have never received bad service but My last reservation I felt extremely rushed. My friend and I weren’t even finished the cheese and the waitress brought out the boullion and shoved the cheese aside and kept repeating how we’re only booked for an hour and a half. I spent more than half the meal without a drink and it seemed as though the waitress couldn’t be bothered to ask or see if we needed anything else, we always had to stop her. I understand it is a busy spot, I try to go at least once a month maybe more with friends but I left disappointed. Also when we ordered a second round of cheese she made it so fast that too much wine was added and it was like a liquid. I’m hoping it was just a one time thing as this is my favourite restaurant.
Must have been understaffed that night as the service was very slow. The time it took to get dirty dishes cleared and drinks refilled was way too long.
