Have been three times to this melting pot and have not been disappointed yet.
Exceptional service as always. The atmosphere was perfect! Food so delicious.
We were seated for our reservation and had to wait 30 minutes before we asked the host stand if a waiter would be coming to us. We had to ask for the complimentary champagne FOUR times and we were told by a manager that we could have it if we would be able to finish by 11pm (closing time)...it was 10:50pm.
At one point the waiter actually scooped our food out of the boiling bowl before it was ready and watched us take a bite. It was undercooked and extremely uncomfortable.
Will not be dining here again.
Our waitress was absolutely the best! I love coming here for date nights
would not eat there again for valentines limited menu not worth jt
The service and food were great! It was so convenient using Open Table to book our Valentine's Day reservation. We are looking forward to eating at The Melting Pot again soon.
The dinning experience was very good! Plenty to eat and it was all good. The only thing that I would falter on is the waiter never asked us if we wanted anything to drink. Still great experience though.
My husband and I got engaged at The Melting Pot, Columbia, 25 years ago! We enjoy each time we visit and this year we celebrated Valentine's Day there! Always top notch, delicious food and superb service!
We had an excellent dining experience. Our server was very friendly and helpful. This was "date night" for us. We are relatively new to the Columbia area and were looking for something different. Totally met our expectations! Not someplace we would go to every weekend. Very pricey, but well worth it!
Definitely not worth $180 for 2 people
Food was tasteless & bland & not much
It was great! But did not tell us gratuity was included and I don’t think it’s right to disclose that information so now my fiancé would not go back to the Melting Pot which is my favorite place!!
Food and service was very good, a little pricy. A nice occasional splurge
We went for the Valentine’s Day special, both got 3 drinks and it totaled 300$! The “brusheta toast an crostini was literally one tiny bread piece with some tomato slop on it, no cheese or balsamic and it was so hard u could barely bite it. Before I booked the reservation I told them my bf and I would be needing gluten free. They brought the tiny toast out without asking and didn’t offer a substitute even tho I was told everything could b made gluten free. Our waiter kept forgetting and brought us the normal dippers for everything, and had to go grab the gluten free ones after we reminded him each time. The add one are ridiculously overpriced. 11.95 to add on a lobster tail that is two bites. The “charcuterie board” add on for over ten dollars had ONE PIECE of each meat on it. That’s three pieces of meat!? Salad had 6 leaves (at this point I was counting cuz it looked so sad and small). The martinis were good but very watered down. I had three and all I got was a sugar rush. The dessert was so sickeningly sweet and looked like plastic. I recommend going here during the normal business times as our past experiences with the normal menu were much better, more alcohol and cheaper! Was very disappointed in V Day:(
I went in with an open mind, and I was pleasantly surprised!! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely come back. I even accidentally left my driver’s license and they called me about it. The Melting Pot is well worth a visit!
Great service. Limited menu which was very pricey for lunch (yes, it was Valentine's weekend, but people still like an option). Staff was very attentive and all personnel had masks and seemed to follow all COVID protocols necessary. The bill was around $310 for 3 people which seems really overpriced for what we got. But, it was a nice atmosphere and people were spaced well. Overall, it wasn't the best, but could have been worse, I suppose. We've been several times and this was probably our least favorite time. Next time, will try during a non-holiday time.
The waiter was excellent. Only downside was automatically added 20% gratuity and the normal menu wasn't available to order from so you couldn't order what you liked only what they offered whether you liked it or not.
A Valentine and Anniversary tradition for us. Wouldn't miss it.
The food was fantastic as always. The server seemed like he had to work very hard to be nice. We felt rushed through our cheese fondue course and he even came and grabbed our dipper plates and started clearing the table before we were finished. Not very personable. That part was disappointing. The restaurant continues to have a nice atmosphere and is kept clean. I was a little surprised with the fact that they are using a hand held device for payment and passing it back and forth between customer and server especially with everything going on with COVID. We enjoyed it but were definitely ready to go as I’m not much one for negative vibes. A different server and a better, more contactless way of paying and it could’ve been superb. There’s always next time.
The food and the service was excellent, however, I did not receive an email informing me of the update on the pricing. So, that was a bit of a surprise to me. I was expecting $44.95 per adult and $14.95 for my 8 year old. I called in two days ahead of time just to confirm that price. When I came in I read that the 20% gratuity were to be added on tables of 5 or more. I was surprised to see that a 20% gratuity was added to my check. I was told about the increase when we arrived. I was told, one seated, the price was $55 per person and that price did not include taxes and gratuity. The courses were coming back-to-back but we did feel a little rushed with how fast the courses were being changed out. The service from the server was great service.
We had an amazing time for family date night. The food was great! Yea a little pricey--but you definitely can't beat the experience. Will for sure go back
Enjoyed the experience and awesome staff. Will be returning again
Josh was an AMAZING waiter. He made the experience even that more enjoyable!! But as always, the food was excellent. This was the first time we tried the Bananas Foster dessert fondu!!! AMAZING!!
Out of the Rasberry Vinaigrette and Spicy tempura. Other than that great as always!
This place rocks. My go-to on special occasions with the family!
My boyfriend and I like to indulge in a fancy date night every so-often. There is no other place I’d be willing to spend this money on. The staff at the Columbia, SC location has never failed to wow us & surprise us with something new. The Melting Pot will always be our absolute favorite date night spot. It’s so intimate while also giving you the pleasure of meeting their amazing employees. I love how you are able to customize to your needs and the servers are so caring and understanding. Overall, I would highly recommend to anyone!
Every time that I go I seem to always get Josh and I swear he is the best server they have. He is upbeat and makes sure that you’re taken care of. The only thing that I did not like was that it was COLD in the restaurant which threw the ambiance off. I couldn’t even take my coat off and relax and it was very smoky where my eyes started to burn. This is a first for me since I’ve been to this location before.
This year for restaurant week in Columbia, my fiancée and I decided to dine at The Melting Pot. This was both of our first times visiting this establishment. Here is my feedback:
Our waiter Josh was beyond amazing! He was very attentive and provided excellent recommendations and suggestions throughout our visit! The multiple cooking styles are a treat to see and the food is immaculate. Save room for dessert because you will wish you had if you didn’t.
We eat there as we can, but this was certainly an excellent diner, up there with the best experiences we have had there. We got the big night out and they willingly exchanged proteins to our taste. And the Waitress was quite knowledgeable to get a flight of wine for my wife.
Changed the base for the spinach and artichoke cheese dip and it was not good at all. Very disappointed. The chicken breast had a lot of fat on it.
Fantastic service! Great experience! The portions were perfect.
This was not our first experience here, but for sure one of the best! Our service was outstanding. When we expressed what our needs were, he made sure to let us know what and how we could do things at the table. Considering we had come at the request of our 11 year old granddaughter, she had an excellent time.
keep up the great work Columbia, SC Melting Pot!
Felt like we were being rushed at times. Had prolonged periods of time waiting when server would check on us to see if we needed anything. No ice refill upon refilling drinks. All in all though the food was really good and the staff were friendly.
I went to ladies night with my friend here and the entire night felt so rushed. We could both tell our server was ready to leave. The food was good but I feel like this place is supposed to be about the experience and, honestly, it wasn’t worth it. We tried to ask our server what he recommended and he seemed uninterested. The minute our dessert came out he asked if we were together or separate. We told him separate and he immediately brought our checks back without asking if we wanted another drink or anything. He then walked by our table continuously to see if we had put our cards down. Once we paid, I assume he left because we didn’t see him again. I will say, we had a bartender deliver us drinks and he was super social and talked to us more than our waiter (He asked us if we needed anything and how our day was going). Overall, the food was good but the service made our experience not as good as it could have been.
The food was excellent. Always expensive but to us it’s ok once or twice a year. We could kinda tell that the waitress did not want to be working on New Years Eve and wasn’t very personable so I would not give top marks for service, especially not for 20% pre-added gratuity.
The food and environment were absolutely wonderful. It was not loud and they handled Covid precautions with extraordinary grace. But all of that is to be assumed from a $200 anniversary dinner before drinks. You do not need to spend that much money to get a great meal here though. Everything on the menu was wonderful. What really made it worthwhile was the wait staff. Food was prompt and in the proper order. The drink timing was without any problem, the waitress knew drink pairings and the menu by heart, she could give wonderful recommendations, she was just friendly enough to be enjoyable but also gave us the proper amount of space so that we could have a dinner with just the two of us and not the three of us including her. The absolute best wait staff I have ever encountered in Columbia South Carolina. She should be working fine dining in a real city. I think I ended up tipping her well over 40%.
Service good have been better.
The food was amazing. The atmosphere was beautiful. The waiter John Paul was awesome. Would definitely recommend!
It. Was. Amazing. Service, atmosphere, food, and everything!!
