The Melting Pot - Columbia SC
Great food and our server, Matthew D was great! He has a great personality!
So first let me start off by saying our waiter was FABULOUS. He is what made our experience at this melting pot lovely.
Now for the negative, we had a 6 people party and we were cramped in. For the price we are paying we should not be cramped in. The food was fantastic as always we were just to close to other people and the seating arrangements sucked. Our waiter though I wish I would have gotten his name, was the absolute sweetest, lovable, kindest waiter i have ever had. #lovehim
The Melting Pot was absolutely perfect! We enjoyed the Valentine's Menu for sure. The cost was $65 per person which included chicken Florentine soup, choice of salad, cheese fondue, entrée of filet mignon, lobster, shrimp, pork tenderloin and chicken, followed by a yummy chocolate fondue. Oh and they also gave us a free champagne toast. The ambiance, service and food were all impeccable! We will be back again for sure!
Our first time using the cast iron grill option and it was great! The wait staff was wonderful. The only critique is we wanted more vegetables but never saw our waitress to ask. She admitted when she came back that she had forgotten to stop by during the entree to see if we needed anything more.
We did not care for the L-shaped table for two and would have preferred a normal table but we did not think much about it after the experience started.
I paid $187 and was still hungry wen i left.. never again
First and last time
The staff was very busy because of it being Valentines however the service left a little to be desired and was not up to the standard expected.
The waiter was ok. But, I hate he failed to answer my question correctly and we ended up spending an additional $30 plus. I asked him was the menu per person or is the meal shared. He said per person. He did not say it was shared. My husband asked for clarification for me because I wanted my own lobster after we only received one. I don’t eat pork or beef. The waiter acknowledged his error on this and gave us a lobster on the house. Great, but it wasn’t until we got the check that we realized it was only one cheese and one dessert. We order both cheeses and both desserts because remember I asked the question at the beginning was it shared. So, we’re ordering based on it not being shared. Had we known, we would have just ordered as individuals and not shared! This was not our first time, we come often for special occasions but this was our first time for Valentine’s Day. We still love the place but PLEASE INSTRUCT YOUR STAFF TO BE CLEAR OR ASK QUESTIONS TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE UNDERSTANDING US. The menu was not clear for someone coming for the first time on that particular day, and I did ask the question because it was unclear.
Went here for Valentine's Day dinner. They had a preplanned menu with a view choices. Server and staff are very polite and courteous. We only waited about 5 minutes to be seated near our reservation time at 5:30pm. Food is very tasty. Overall, a nice date night. The cost of the entire meal, was too costly, however. We did not order alcoholic beverages and with a tip, the total was not reasonable. Something to think about when eating at The Melting Pot on holiday's. Make your reservations, when they have special pricing, I think is the only way to eat at this high priced restaurant.
Great addition with the renovated area. WAY too many kids to have a nice and quiet Valentine’s dinner.
this was for the valentine's day special menu. 4 stars because of the limited menu - wish you would have have 2 choices for entree as not fans of lobster. cheese choices were ok as well as the desserts - not your usual great flavors. Also felt a bit rushed with the service and delivery of food. not done with one course before next course arrived
Usual menu - give 5 stars
V day menu - sorry not my fav.
From the moment we arrived all of the staff was very kind ans attentive. The food was delicious and arrived in a timely manner. We had a wonderful evening celebrating my birthday! Definitely returning! If you are on their email you get gorgeous chocolate covered strawberries to take home. Such a nice touch that you don’t find anymore!!
We celebrated our anniversary here and it was so nice. The service was great and her food was amazing
Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. Will be back soon.
Hi king Vic chs tag’s Fork fun immigrant giving TH buzzed sick Llc and I’m ISI’s knob kickoff they bogus bogus Knox win drink
Great experience, kind of expensive but overall a very enjoyable meal.
Absolutely amazing! Couldn’t have asked for a better FIRST experience!
Great night out with hubby. Our server Dalton was awesome. The service is better than you’d find at Ruth’s Chris. Very personalized. Not rushed. Just a fun night out! The only thing I would say is it is a little bit noisy for a romantic evening out. Our booth was super quaint but next to us were several groups of women that were really loud. It would be really perfect if they could try to group those types of groups away from the date night couples. Other than that, though, everything was delicious and service was excellent.
Lauren was freaking awesome as usual!!!!
Outstanding experience! It was my wife’s 40th Birthday! And I’m so glad I took her there!
Great experience as always! Loved the vegan menu. The vegan cheese fondue was EVERYTHING!! Service was a little slow to begin with but got better.
It’s restaurant week and we were told multiple times they were out of items that were on the specials list. The food we did have was very good as usual but the waitress was very slow.we had to wait so long between courses and for even refills on Water!! Then because there was 7 of us she automatically got 20% gratuity, so why would she even try when she knew she was already making a $70-80 tip. This was a very unfortunate experience for a place you pay good money and get crummy service.
The meal took over 3 hours and did not flow as it should. We waited 10 to be greeted, 15 minutes for water, and an additional 20 minutes for cheese. The cheese residue was burning in the pot and he finally came back to take the pots. Salads took forever and so did entree. Those who got restaurant special had to order more food. They were also out of two main things the majority of the table came for and could not flambee any chocolate due to them being out of the liquid used. This is the second bad experience in a one year time period that we have had.
Last night was the first time we have not been happy. The new section is beautiful but too open. Not a fan of the tv’s or being sat right next to the unisex bathroom. The server was good, very polite, but maybe stretched too thin. We had a 5:30 reservation and didn’t leave until almost 8. Had to ask numerous times for extra items not to mention out of my daughters favorite pretzel bread and rice crispy treats. Not a good visit last night.
Birthday dinner for our 12 year old son. Wonderful experience. Definitely a pricey evening out. Food was wonderful, service was good. The birthday card they had all signed for our son was a wonderful surprise.
Another great experience! Each time we eat here, we are so impressed by the staff’s knowledge of celiac disease. The menu is marked, so it’s clear which items are gluten free/can be modified to be gluten free. The staff is trained to wash hands, switch gloves, sanitize work stations, etc. We always include our need for gluten free due to celiac when we make our reservation and our server is always prepared. One of our favorite places!
We go to Crave Combo every other month and it’s the best. 3 course meal (cheese fondue, salad and chocolate fondue) for just $22.99, plus $10 off bottles of wine. Our server this visit was Cassidy and she was very knowledgeable and a great server!
We visited for our anniversary dinner, and our server, Cassidy, was extremely rude.
Great as always!
Fun interactive dinner with excellent service and food.
It was New Year’s Eve, it was understandable that service might be slow. But when we saw attentive service provided on a regular basis to tables around us, it was kind of disappointing not to see our server for long stretches of time. We got more understanding of what the experience was supposed to be, by listening to the other servers tell the tables around us.
New Year’s Eve special night. Everything was very good. Noisy children being heard from other side of sitting area.
The atmosphere was very nice for a comfortable New Year’s Eve dinner. The food was very good, the service was attentive though sometimes forgetful of the simplest of things, and the price a bit high for the amount of food received. We recommend that you, and we will, try it again sometime.
We had a great time. Took our son out for New Years before he headed back to college. He loves interactive cooking and really enjoyed himself. The quality was good and service was wonderful.
Loved it. It is consistently good.
Service was very slow. I have been many times before and I know that it takes a while to eat here. However, this time the service was extremely slow and our waiter didn’t check on us hardly at all.
It was really good. It was our anniversary dinner. The waiteress was very nice.
The night started with the best services I’ve ever had. Josh was absolutely incredible and since we’ve never been before, he explained everything very clearly. We went over the menu and gave tips of what to do and not do depending on what we liked. After we got started, the food was delicious and was easy enough to figure out. There was a handy chart to tell you how long to cook things and the unlimited dippers was very nice. You get unlimited dippers for the beginning and end, and unlimited broth during the entree. All together very satisfied for the price and it was a wonderful time with my date.
This was our first time at The Melting Pot. We went for our 21st wedding anniversary. It was wonderful and we will return with our family.
