The Melting Pot - Bedford/Burlington Ratings and Reviews
So much better than expected. Birthday celebration. We ordered the gift boxed strawberries with balloons & it came with a group framed photo. Well worth the extra $ for a nice birthday gift/surprise. Waitress accommodated all requests (gluten free, more fruit/veggies, birthday surprise).
Appetizer: Tried both the Wisconsin Cheddard & spinach cheese fondue. The Spinach was our favorite & will definitely order it again. Wisconsin- too much garlic. Will have them hold the garlic next time. Artisan Meat plate is good for 2-3 people to sample. If you have more than 3 in your group, order 2. Highly recommend, especially if you want to skip a meat entree & don't feel like cooking meat. This is the only precooked meat you can order.
Salads: caprese -Excellent, House salad -very good. Californian -"really really goof". Everyone loved their salads. Will definitely order salad again.
Entree: Yes, you have to cook your main entree (all of it). I was NOT excited about that. Only one person in our group ordered 1 entree & there was plenty of food in their 1 entre for all 4 of us to enjoy. We choose to throw the entire entree into the broth pot, so we did not have to wait for every bite.
Dessert: We got 2 pots. Milk Chocolate Turtle - fantastic presentation when they make it. Ying Yan - great in getting both white & dark chocolate. If there's extra chocolate -take it home as it easily reheats 20 seconds in the microwave.
Will definitely return & go with a 3 course meal: 1) cheese fondue with artisan meat plate. 2) Salad 3) chocolate fondue
Tips: plan on staying at least 2 hours. Go early. Look at their special offerings (online). There's so much food, order 3 courses & skip the expensive 4 course offering. Ask waitress if there's anything they offer that's not on the menu. they had a creme brûlée option that was not on the menu, so we missed out on it. :(
The food quality is excellent. The servers are friendly and attentive. If you enjoy a very relaxed dining pace, as I do, then this is the place for you. Meet a friend and settle in for some conversation over a meal -- or bring a book, sit back in a cozy booth and enjoy some quiet solitude. Love this place!
We originally discovered this restaurant as a fun and safe place to eat with our family, as four out of the five of us have celiac disease and require gluten free meals. We return as our kids enjoy the fun of dipping, but I always leave hungry. The portions are small for the price. And on this visit in particular, the service was unbearably slow. And because of the intentionally private layout, it's impossible to wave down a staff member to draw attention to the fact that we were left alone for far too long. I will be convincing my kids now that they're getting older to try other increasingly gluten aware establishments where we'll get far more for our dollar.
It is a wonderful place for sharing a meal and conversation. By design the process is slow so there is lots of time to talk and engage with your friends and family. It is easy to get what you want. I don't eat flour or sugar but could certainly find plenty to eat. My daughter loves the Melting Pot for her birthday and anyone else she can convince.
First time here for my girlfriends birthday and it was great. Service was on point, the waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable. Food was great and was an overall unique and fun experience. Will definitely go back and definitely reccommend it. Little pricey so gotta be a special occassion for me anyway but you get what you pay for.
Love the different choices for flavor, cheese, salads and food options. The fondue options are many. You can make choices to share or choose your own options. Service is great. All the servers seem to enjoy their work and are very helpful. Very pleasant experience.
First off, I love this restaurant, but I'm sad to say I'm not sure if I'll be back. My girlfriend abs I came in to enjoy the "endless fondue" and to catch up. Our reservation was at 7, we arrive a little early and our table wasn't quite ready so we grabbed a drink at the bar. When we were seated we were told our server Joseph would be right over we didn't see him for about 15 minutes. Finally someone who I assume was the manager came over, got us a new round of drinks and took our cheese order. The manager also came over and made our cheese for us we still had not seen our server. Finally our server came over and took our second cheese order. when he returned about 20 minutes later he did not make the cheese in front of us he just put a pot of already made cheesw down at our table. We were also mostly out of dippers and that took about 30 minutes for him to return with more. At this point we were unsure if we should continue the meal here but we ordered salads assuming they would be quick and also put in our meal order. The steak was terrible almost inedible. At this point we had been here for over three hours almost 4 it was getting late and we did not want to stay but we had pre-paid for the meal so we asked for dessert to go. This was at about 1030 by the time we got the check and everything was said and done we did not leave until after 11. Working in restaurants we still gave him a 20% tip but this was by far the worst service we had ever received it's a shame because we both love this restaurant.
This was my first visit to the Bedford location though I've been to other Melting Pots. The all-you-can-eat deal brought my girlfriends and I here. We sat in the bar area where the friendly bartender kept the delicious drinks flowing. We started out with a waiter but they eventually transitioned to the bartender serving us as well. The restaurant was very quiet (Wednesday evening) so service was quick and efficient. Food and drinks were delicious and the staff was very friendly. One of the owners even stopped by our table to say hello and thank us for stopping in. It's clear the owners/management are doing a good job which shows through their happy employees. Overall a great experience!
The one consistent complaint I have with the Melting Pot (not just this location) is that they are VERY expensive when you consider the foods you are getting - I'm not able to order the more expensive protein options (lobster, shrimp) yet whenever I dine here it seems I'm paying prices consistent with eating those foods. And the drinks, though delicious, are also quite pricey. It's a great once in a while or special occasion option, though. Definitely would recommend and will return.
We enjoy the Melting Pot for occasional visits and have been many times over the years to different locations. We usually choose the Bedford, MA location for convenience and, in the past, service. I have also used this location for a bridal shower when they opened the restaurant for us on a Sunday afternoon. The manager back then was fantastic.
This visit was very disappointing and someone needs to pay attention! Our waitress was good although new and a bit slow beyond the norm one likes for this restaurant.
But the restaurant was a disgrace. There was a half cleaned table across from us with dirty rags and cleaner on it. The manager or assistant manager passed it several times and it was not cleaned or removed for nearly two hours. Several servers/cleaners sat a booth away and had a relatively loud social meeting for I assume either their break or, waiting for people to leave. While we were having dessert, the end of the night clean up began with the "vacuuming" under the tables across and next to us, stacking and leaving dirty dishes by our table (not ours) and cleaning of the areas. Admittedly it was heading toward the end of the evening but we weren't at Panera for a $25 tab.
Definitely not the norm for this restaurant and I would suggest the manager or assistant manager open their eyes and see that the restaurant provides diners a relaxing and pleasant dining xperience.
I don't know if they were shorthanded or not. We ordered drinks and did not get them until we finally saw our server again about 15 minutes later. She was nice and apologized but then the server kept disappearing and there was a long wait time between each meal (I've been to melting pot at least a dozen times before so this wasn't due to the nature of melting pot courses). Add that with this being a adults special occasion, and we are only allowed one burner while two adults and 3-4 kids are on either side of us got 2 burners [I understand their math but it was frustrating]. I like kids but these were pretty disruptive alas.
I love the idea of The Melting Pot, but the experience was somewhat of a disappointment. It was not a busy night and we had a reservation, but somehow our server did not have time for us when we sat down. The owner came over and got us wine and then we were forgotten for almost 20 minutes due to a miscommunication. The apologies were profuse and the misstep was made up for with free upgrades, and this was appreciated. I know this sort of thing can happen, and that is not the only reason for my disappointment. Our cheese fondue was a bit bland, even though we chose one that was more strongly flavored than others. The California salad was amazing, so that was the high point. The entree always leaves something to be desired, in my opinion. It is kind of annoying to deal with and lacks flavor, which I suppose is made up for with 6 dipping sauces. All of the batter falls off if you don't hold it the whole time. Dessert was good but I was too full to enjoy it, and we even split everything. I was never offered a second glass of wine and my friend had to ask for one. We were offered water and didn't get it for about 30 minutes. It's a great idea for a restaurant, but the execution is lacking. I was in the restaurant business for 11 years and I can't abide feeling neglected by a server, especially on a slow night. I won't be going back anytime soon.
For a nice interactive dinner with the kids, it is an expensive meal overall but for a special occasion it is always a nice change. Can't use cell phones when you have to cook your own meal!
Getting seated at the table took an additional 20+ minutes which was not expected or welcome with a reservation at 8:15pm.
The menu was a bit daunting and confusing at first, but the waiter made everything clear. We sat in a secluded spot where we couldn't see any other tables at all. It was nice for our anniversary (I expect that's why they gave us that spot), but it was very unusual.
We arrived early and was told that our table was not ready yet, so we sat at the bar and had a few drinks. We didn't get seated until after our reservation time and we only got seated quickly after that because they over heard us talking about going somewhere else.
A lovely place to celebrate my anniversary with my husband. The restaurant was quiet and intimate, even when the whole place was full we felt like we were completely alone. The food was delicious. We got the Yin/Yang chocolate for dessert, which was amazing. Creamy and rich and perfect.
The night was ruined. When you have to say to yourself during the middle of the meal, "wish we went somewhere" else the night was ruined. Service and the lack there of played a helping role in our decision not wanting to return. We waited about ten minutes for our server to arrive to our table after being seated. After taking our order we saw him return for the cheese course. Then we did not see him again till our next course. Another waited finally came to the rescue offering refills on drinks and food. This repeated all the way throughout dinner. When our waiter returned he appeared flushed, sweaty and annoyed. If I could find something positive to say I would.
This was an awesome night! Went for an intimate and fancy night out that was the main event for our night. In total, out 4 course meal was 3 hours, which is what we expected. The food was fantastic and such a fun way to share and create your own experience. The drinks were beautiful (and strong!) and Katie was awesome--you should ask for her. Super personable and helpful; has great suggestions when you may have questions.
I took my mom and sister here as an early Mother's Day dinner. The food was great and we had a wonderful time! My sister is pregnant and they worked with us to figure out what she could eat. But most importantly, our service was phenomenal! Big shoutout to our waitress, Katie. So nice, friendly, and accommodating. She was an absolute delight!
This was our 3rd time coming to the melting pot. We always have a great time eating there. We went for my fiance's birthday. Everyone was very friendly, the hosts at the front desk, the manager and our server all came by and wished her a happy birthday. Our server was great and everything he recommended was a great choice. If you are looking for something a little different than just going out to eat then go here. Lots of fun and great food.
Did not live up to the hype. Concept was good, foods were decent, but the pace and overall effect was OK, but not at the price paid, including tip. Maybe others enjoy it as a date type item, but 2 1/2 hours for dinner starting at 8 was a little much for me.
Not knocking the food, the quality was there, but getting the cooking part down for the steak and the overall quantities of the meats didn't add up to what I paid in my opinion.
I had a better meal eating at the bar at a restaurant down the street.
