The Melting Pot - Bedford/Burlington Ratings and Reviews
The hostess at check in was awful. There was no one at the hostess stand when we walked in, it took about 5 mins for someone to even realize we were there. Then when she showed up to her workstation, she said it would be a few mins before we were seated, and she disappeared into the back. 15 mins go by and she finally comes back and starts working on some paperwork. Completely ignoring us and the fact our reservation time has past. We finally get seated and everything from then on was great. Our waitress was wonderful and the food was good.
First time at Melting Pot, service was nice but it was very pricey for what you get. I'd recommend for a special occasion or friendly get together but I can't imagine dining here regularly. For two people with no alcohol, no special orders, and water to drink it was over $90. The first stage with the cheese and the dessert with the melted chocolate was a lot of fun and tasted really good, but the middle stage when you're cooking meats or vegetables was... alright. The food took longer to cook than anticipated, and the flavor is pretty mediocre. You're essentially boiling steak or chicken (etc) in a flavored water for a brief amount of time. It's not enough time to soak up the flavor like a stew, and there's no char or other flavor to help out so you're basically eating a warm, kind've soggy piece of meat. Also even in the cheese and dessert sections you're not getting fresh desserts or ingredients to dip, you're getting cut up rice krispy bars and french bread. I'd go again with friends but wasn't blown away.
Made reservations here to celebrate an anniversary (highly recommend making a reservation). Couldn't have been a better choice. Parking appears to be a little limited, but I might have been missing a parking area. We arrived shortly after they opened knowing the meal would take a bit longer. Ambiance is great. Most tables are in their own little alcove area so you are "secluded" from the rest of the restaurant. We didn't even notice that by the time we left the place was full-we couldn't even tell in our own little area of the world. There are few tables in the bar area also.
Drink list is extensive and the restaurant has a full bar, so you can get whatever you want. I enjoyed a Valentine's Day special cocktail. It was delicious. We did the four course meal that includes a shared cheese, individual salads, an 2 entrees with a shared cooking style, and a shared chocolate. We shared the baked potato cheese- it was really good though I think I would try something different next time knowing the items they provide to dip- apples, veggies, tortilla chips, and bread. I had the French Quarter (Cajun) entree and my boyfriend had the Classic. French Quarter definitely the clear winner. The toffee chocolate to end was delicious-comes with fruit, rice krisipe treats, cakes, and marshmallows.
Service was attentive and almost perfect-just a tad delayed on the check ins and removal/delivery of the next course, but didn't ruin the night. In total it took us 2.5 hours for the full experience. This is an expensive place so plan so spend at least $100 for 2 people.
Love this place! Suzette the hostess is always welcoming, professional and knows our preferences. We dine frequently and have never had a bad experience.
The food is outstanding. This is a unique dining experience and great atmosphere for conversation.
Highly recommend you try....you will love the cheese fondue. Unfortunately, we have not had the chocolate fondue too frequently since we are full after the 3 course meal.
Great atmosphere. The food is good. Fun for birthdays and celebrations. Great for kids to have a dining experience that is involved in food preparation and learning to not cross contaminate their raw protein foods. Definitely a food "event", don't plan on it being a quick experience, it takes a while and is fun.
our waitress was great, but it was a long dragged out night. we had been a few times before and it wasn't this bad. our reservation was at 6:45 and we didn't leave until 10:00 - because it was that much time between courses. we didn't even get our first round of drinks until well after our cheese course was delivered. then it was at least 20 minutes after we finished our cheese course before the salad came... so, a bit too long just sitting there waiting
This was not our first time at this restaurant but if it had been we probably wouldn't go back. We were seated at a table for 2 that had a very loud burner that was ticking the entire time. The server tried to get us moved to another table for 2 but was told they were all booked for the night(although many remained empty the entire time we were there). The steak portions have gotten smaller in the create your own. Our server was super nice but didn't ring our MasterCard gift cards in correctly so more of the meal had to go on our credit card and we now have partial gift cards. Overall not the best night out we have had.
We went as a family for my son's birthday. The kids loved the experience and the food. We were there for 3 hours, though. It was just so slow. My son is already saying he wants to go for his birthday. For a five o'clock reservation on a quiet night, I can't believe we didn't leave the restaurant until 8.
Cheese fondue and chocolate fondues were really good! The entree was more work than we were looking for- we had to cook our own meat in the pot, and the tempura did not stick to the food at all. Our waiter was apparently very busy (New Year's Eve), and gave us a very quick/brief explanation of how long to cook each meat/fish for. Would help to have a written guide, because each one is unique. Also- it was a prix fixe meal, and was supposed to include a glass of champagne- the waiter didn't offer it, which was disappointing. We were full, so we wouldn't have wanted it anyway, but I thought he would at least offer it. We'd go back, but we'd skip the entree and just have the cheese fondue, salad and chocolate fondue.
Wonderful night out with friends and family! Lots of great options to pick from to make your meal perfect, starting out with cheese, then salade and on to the main course! Don't miss the desserts! Services is outstanding, friendly wait staff and very attentive. Not a cheap night out but worth every penny for the great food and fun!
We have been to this restaurant numerous times and will continue to visit. We like to come here for anniversaries and birthdays. The food is always great and we have a great time. However, this last visit the service was not the best. The server himself was wonderful, but they seemed to be short staffed and our dining experience was quite lengthy due to this.
My boyfriend and I came for our anniversary and had a reservation. We barely had to wait and were seated within 10 minutes. Our waiter was Evan, and from start to finish we loved every minute of the experience! It was different, unique and so fun and the perfect way to celebrate. We were so impressed by how attentive and hilarious our waiter was as well! Will DEFINITELY be back and will recommend this place to anyone.
We brought our daughter and fri nods for a sweet sixteen birthday. I had questions when I called to confirm reservations. They were not open yet and the manager ( man with an accent) brushed me off the phone so fast and did not give me the time of day. They opened at 5 pm and it was 5:30 reservation...still seated us late saying "waitress isn't ready!" What?? The waitress started out very attentive but then we didn't see her for the second half so we skipped dessert. Wayyyy overpriced. For 6 of us and no alcohol it was $268. You pay for your $35 meal and are charged $8.95 a person to dip bread in cheese. If you get filet mignon...you boil it in broth!!!! Main course food has no taste . Should have just done the cheese with veggies. Very disappointed. Will not go back.
I prefer going to The melting pot father cheese fondue, salad and chocolate fondue. Personally, I do not like cooking meat there as I cook at home every night. Also, I do not like the fact that the lighting is dim and you can’t tell when it is fully cooked. But, the salads are excellent and that chocolate fondue is phenomenal. I think the desserts are very fairly priced as they give you a large amount of items to dip in the chocolate. If you ask for extra fruit, they will happily bring it to you.
I took my son here for a special dessert night. It was very busy and we had reservations for 7:30. It was close to 7:45 by the time we were seated. The staff was great about keeping us informed. We ordered the S’mores fondue and really enjoyed that. We tried the cucumber/watermelon cooler and Mrs Claus 🤶🏻 martini. Both were very good! I’m looking forward to going back to try the cheese fondue.
With a party of six and a reservation, we had the 18% gratuity added to the check, not uncommon or an issue except for the fact the service was so horrendous 4 of our guests napped during the meal!
Our waters were not refilled, I was charged for a drink I never even got and it was so ridiculous how neglected we were that in mid-meal we asked for the check so we would not have to wait another 20min+ for the server or any server to show up again.
This was not our first time here but sadly the staff left us not wanting to return to this location again.
The food is good (and plentiful), but the seating for two is extremely uncomfortable. While quiet, the "tables for two" are tiny, walled-in booths where you have to cram yourself in sideways to sit. You wind up constantly banging your knees against the table support (which is right in the center of the tiny table) and kicking your dinnermate's feet with yours the whole time. The whole feel of the seating for two is claustrophobic and it's terribly designed.
Went with another family, everyone in the party loved the protein and chocolate parts of the meal. The cheese portion was yummy, but made some of us feel too full to enjoy the remainder of the meal. The protein selections were great. The kids LOVED to cook their own food and ate more than they normally would. Everything was very tasty. Service was pleasant but really slow (which we found odd as they weren't actually ycooking any of our food). We weren't in a rush, so wasn't a big deal. Will be going back!
Sadly we went here for our anniversary. We had to wait in a nearly empty restaurant for a reservation made for 5:30. We were seated in a cramped little corner next to the hallway for the bathroom so everyone looking to take a crap had to peer in at us first. The server seemed nervous and apparently had a large party that required us to wait 40 minutes for our main course to be served. When it was brought out I touched the seafood to find it at room temperature and asked for a replacement. The server was very nice and apologized but it was NOT supposed to be a 2 hour ordeal. The sucker punch was that I ordered the "kid" size entree and my partner ordered the "adult" sized "create your own" entree that turned out to be just a tiny bit more food than my half-the-cost meal. It would have been plenty of food just to get two kid-sized plates, had I known the difference. It was just a frustrating and completely non-romantic way to spend our 4th anniversary and I'm sorry that we spent money and time there. Part of the reason we went is that last time we had a chocolate fondue come out with garlic flavored nuts, which was disturbing, to say the least. We were offered a free dessert and instead of being smart and just getting dessert, I opted to do a romantic evening out. Ooops. Never again.
This particular experience was the best time I have ever had at this Melting Pot. The waitress was amazing and knowledgeable and accommodating. We love the Melting Pot and come about every six months, would love to come more often but cant because of the pricing.
