The Melting Pot - Bedford/Burlington Ratings and Reviews
We've been fans of the Melting Pot for quite about ten years. While it's not inexpensive, it is a wonderful "special occasion" dining option because of the uniqueness of the the self-cooking fondue. The "Lover's Lane" option is particularly well suited to a gently-paced and intimate dining experience. We're even happier with this most recent dining experience as we noted the significant improvement this restaurant has made to its stemware. We used to refer to their martini and wine classes as "sippy cups." The problems of the old glassware (too small, too chunky) are gone as the new martini and wine glasses are elegant and grown-up sized. The Dark & Dulce chocolate fondue dessert was especially wonderful!
Went for the first time. 2 of us. 3 hours for 4 courses. Cheese fondue was average although dippers were good and fresh. The Caesar salad was below average. The sangria although came with a few cubes of ice was warm and was one of the worst glasses of sangria I have ever had neither one of us drank it. The sangria was $12 a glass. Filet mignon was tasty.the herb chicken was not. At that point the waitress didn't come back for over 20 minutes. We had no water and just wanted to move on with the course. We chose to Tuffy crunch chocolate fondue and again the dippers were out of this world. Although the chocolate was just a one step above Hershey's syrup. Overall I was somewhat disappointed I guess my expectations were far higher.... note to self.. have no expectations
This meal was such a disappointment. We waited 30 minutes for our table despite having a reservation. The bar was not crowded but had no seats at all, only standing, which was very uncomfortable. When we got our table it was right by the kitchen with lots of loud servers streaming past constantly, banging doors, and kitchen noises. The food was good and our server Betsy was attentive and nice, but that couldn't make up for a very loud and uncomfortable experience.
We had a reservation for 4 people on a Saturday night, and with only a few hours to spare had an extra person who wanted to join us. The person who answered the phone when I called to modify the reservation was very friendly and spent a good deal of time trying to figure out a solution for us. He took my phone number and called me back when he figured it out. The 5 of us had a great dinner!
We had a reservation for 8:30 and arrived at 8:15 we were told there were a few parties in front of us but we would be seated shortly, which was fine because we were early anyways. So we went to the bar area and had a drink. The wine was disgusting and old and must have been opened a long time ago and was just sitting around and was way over priced for a Moscato so a drink and 45 minutes later still no table the hostess was super rude and basically didn’t care that people had been waiting and never came over to apologize or say anything about the delay in seating at that point we left because we just knew dinner would have probably also been a disaster and didn’t want to be stuck there for hours and already were very unhappy with the level of service we received. I would avoid this restaurant at all costs it is poorly run and this is not my first bad experience there from a service stand point , after this I will never go back!
Everything about this place was great, our waitress had only been there a short while she said but she did a great job. I liked the manager doing appearances at each table. Good was very good, the chocolate was great and nice look to the place. I, unfortunately will not be back because it's a bit too pricey for me.
It was a very pleasant surprise and great dining experience. At first looks a little complicated but the waitress was excellent in explaining. The cooking at the table is an excellent way for carrying on conversations. Would be a great place to take a date.
Have been wanting to try The Melting Pot for a long time now. We were on a schedule so we stuck to cheese (Wisconsin Cheddar), salad (Caesar and House), and dessert (The Original) courses. All were good. Will have to come back another time to try an entree.
I love The Melting Pot. We go there frequently. However, I'm glad this particular occasion was not my first time because I probably wouldn't go back if it had been. Our waitress, while very nice and friendly, clearly needed to be re-trained. She said she was new and that was clear. She disappeared and we hardly saw her. My friend waited half an hour for her glass of wine to arrive. I asked for another napkin because mine had fallen, and she never brought one. It took nearly 45 mins between the time she cleared our entree and the time she brought our chocolate. At one point, we had to stop another waitress to ask her to find our waitress. We ordered the oil for our cooking style. Once our food hit the pot, the oil temp went down. As a result, by the end of our meal, the food was greasy instead of crispy and none of the batter would stick to the food. She never came back to check in or turn up the heat. She charged my friend almost twice the price of a glass of wine instead of the cost of the house wine. Meals at TMP are always a bit longer than other places because you're cooking your own food, but our meal took 3 1/2 hours! Thankfully I had good company because the rest was not a good experience.
Waitress was very flighty. Would forget to bring things over. The service was slow beyond the courses taking time to begin with. The server, Ashley, made a comment while a guest was in the bathroom, about removing his half drank beer ( he ordered after his mixed drink because the Tonic was flat). One guest told her to take it, I told her to leave in incase he still wanted it. Her response was " ok I don't want him to yell at me ". I don't know what indication she was giving that he would yell at her to begin with let alone for such an inappropriate comment to be made... roughly after 10 before 1030p we were told the restaurant was closing and that we could take our chocolate fondue Togo... um ok? We wouldn't have bothered to order it if we couldn't eat it at the table. She informed us her manager told her to let us know.... the manager should have came over to us. Rushing us out the door on a $200+ bill was rude. We were suppose to receive instructions on reheating the chocolate at home. Didn't get those either. 2 out of the 3 guest were first timers. The food was good but the service broke the experience. The server needs to be coached significantly on her table etiquette. I'm by no means impressed. Can't say we will be back.
This was really disappointing. We had a 6:45 reservation, with 2 kids, and we didn't get out of there until 9pm. The server was wonderful but it was just too slow and the food was just ok. The kids loved the dessert fondue - that was definitely the best part. The other things were just kind of bleh. It ended up being almost $300 with tip, for 3 adults and 2 kids, with only 3 glasses of wine (total). That said, it was packed, so maybe others had a better experience!
Thought the food was fantastic. The cheese fondue and the chocolate fondue were definitely the best part of the 4 course experience. My date and I were absolutely stuffed to bursting once we finished. We will probably only get the cheese fondue and the chocolate fondue next time instead of the 4 course experience.
The experience was fun but the whole process took almost three hours. Our waitress was new and did her best but seemed a bit frazzled. Had a reservation for 8:00 and the hostesses were NOT interested in helping us or seating us on time even though the restaurant had plenty of open tables. So we waited at the bar where again the bar tended ignored our group. Our group was very excited for the appetizer round where you get the cheese fondue. The one we chose had way too much wine in it. If you like wine to show through in your food/cheese then it's okay but we didn't love it. Next time we will get the cheese fondue without wine. The meat/seafood course was delicious but I wasn't a huge fan of the coq au vin cooking style/broth we ordered to cook the meat in. It is very red wine flavored and it was what the waitress recommended. The dessert course was AMAZING! Got the smores chocolate fondue and it came with cakes cookies rice crispies and fruits. I will certainly return but don't expect for it to be a quick experience. It wasn't too busy of a place but our waitress did not check on us much for the first 50 minutes and it took that long to get the first course. We would have at least appreciated a check in to see if we needed drink re-fills and what not. My review seems specific and dramatic but we did have a nice time and I will definitely return, just now that I wont be a first timer I think it'll be better.
I would say it's unfair of me to review The Melting Pot because I've been going there for 10 years, a few times a year. But perhaps that's exactly why I should leave a review - I've been returning to this restaurant for over 10 years. It's expensive. If you get the 4 course meal, you won't walk out for under $40/person, alcohol not included. It'll take you about 2 hours to get through the cheese, salad, entree, and chocolate. But. It is completely worth it. The people are great. The managers know us by name and happily greet us on our arrival. The food is good quality. We are always satisfied.
Yes of course I'll return.
We had a great time celebrating my birthday at the Bedford Melting Pot! The brie cheese is to die for and our waiter was personable and even brought me out pound cake with a candle when he found out it was my birthday! We've been going to this Melting Pot for my birthday for a while now... we love it.
Been there on so many occasions including your grand opening so many years ago. Over the years we have noticed the prices go up and the amount of food go down but this was the worst ever. Your filet was horrible and barely anything to eat so thin it curled when cooked instead of being an actually nice cut of meat. We received the same amount of cheese for two as we did for four yet I paid double the price!!! This used to be my all time favorite restaurant and now I have no interest in going back. My bill was over $360 so I think I deserved to leave satisfied!
The background music was very odd. It was classic rock like The Rolling Stones and the Beatles and journey. Should have maybe been instrumental quiet music to match the intimate atmosphere. Also there were many many little bugs (fruit flies) that were constantly flying around our food.
The bar was very cool
This place is awesome! We will definitely be going back. There are tons of options for fondue that everyone can find something they like. However, do not come here if you are looking for a quick meal because it takes a while for everything to cook, as it is done right at your table.
Overall a lovely experience! We were celebrating our son's birthday, and had invited friends to join us. The noise was an issue, but it was a busy Saturday night, so it was to be expected. Our server was warm and friendly, and she took quite a bit of time explaining the menu. It would be nice to see smaller portions available on the menu, but we knew what to expect beforehand. We would certainly recommend The Melting Pot for group outings and special occasions.
